When I get sad, I stop and be awesome instead. True story.

And when thee above doesn't work depending on severity of the depression and what caused it, I range from sitting in my room listening to sad, sad music, attempting suicide or gaming the hell out of my life, which I do pretty much all the time but gaming takes my mind of all the bad things in my life.

smoke weed, listen to metal, play games, read about science stuff to reinstill some semblance of faith in humanity.

For real depression? Consultation with a trained professional.

For self diagnosed depression, a.k.a. "the blues"? Anything. If a person is sitting around feeling sorry for themselves or just generally feel like they're in a bad place, the last thing you want to do is sit around continuing to feel bad - that's how you got there in the first place! Sleep. Read a book. Jack off. Turn on the radio. Go to youtube. Play a game. Go outside. Find an anthill and see if you can accurately bomb the opening with your spit - trust me, this is an excellent way to kill 15 minutes on a muggy summer afternoon.

Listen to anything by Ronald Jenkees. Seriously, the guy knows something serious about feeling alright and having fun.

I wouldn't claim to have any idea what it's like to feel depressed but I've been feeling down and gloomy a lot more often than usually recently. I generally immerse myself in fiction, be it literature, cinema, tv series or videogames (currently Fallout: New Vegas).

Doing the above in combination with a few friends and massive amounts of weed and booze helps too, if temporarily.

Contact sports and play extra physical!
I play rugby and ice hockey and when I'm feeling low I go to training and matches and hit everything that moves with overkill hits!

It's prob not good but I feel better inflicting pain on other people but at least it's in a controlled environment and not just randomly shooting up a school or something.

I stare out into my back yard for a bit, look at my phone with no texts on it, then play halo with some music. Usually helps a bit.

I be creative as I possibly can. I make a video or write something.

If I wasn't talented enough to entertain at least some people, I would have probably committed suicide. I'm sad to say that this is the only thing left in my life.

Talking about my issues, or swallowing meds for them never helped me,
so nowadays I just keep busy, all the time, either cleaning, studying, going to the gym, videogames, movies.
The trick is to never get bored, because when you are bored you start to think, and thinking sucks.

When I'm sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead.

But to be honest, I don't have much to contribute. I don't have depression, and I'm not really even sad often, even though my life's been (and kind of currently is) shit. I'm pretty optimistical about everything (or I just consciously try really, really hard to not care about the things that could make me sad or depressed).

And also, that's what escapism is for: to escape from that. I usually just distract myself with something I can immerse myself in, and that helps. And, to be honest, if I didn't have a computer and internet, ready for usage 24/7, then I'd probably have turned off to be a lot worse than I am right now.

I may say I'm a generally cheery person who tries to overlook the bullshit in my life, but seriously, if I didn't have the 'net, I'd have to face that bullshit all the time, and that'd be grounds enough for turning into a murderous, ravenous killer. Possibly with an axe, if I could get my hands on one.

I just dwell in it, excluding the time I'm diving in a flow experience on games, TV series or music. Have self-destructive thoughts, occasionally cheer up and feel like I can do anything, until getting crushed deep down to the ground again.

I should've been to therapy ages ago.

Usually I watch anime or play a shooter. But not Gears of War 2, because after playing that one part (everyone should know.) i get depressed whenever I play it.

Whenever I'm sad, i'll run to the highest location at hand, be it the top of a hill, or the roof of my apartment, look out over the ,hopefully, good vista in front of me and drown myself in deep, but cheerful (preferably instrumentals, or melodic/choir) music. If it's sunset or early evening, then i get best results.
