Wheeeel of Tiiiime. I don't care that it's so long.

Since everyone seems to be mentioning it, I read and disliked the Ranger's Apprentice. I've had my fill of young teens saving the world through improbable means. The characters were cliche, too.

Anything by J.R.R. Tolkien and the Earthsea Cycle by Ursula K Le Guin. A Song of Ice and Fire is a recent favorite.

Discworld, the Johnny Maxwell books, The X-Wing Rogue Squadron and Wraith Squadron books, and probably any of the David Eddings series. Dirk Gently was fun too.

Anne McCaffery's Ship books, Asimov's Caves of Steel and the Robot City books.

Probably the Night Angel trilogy, even though every single death makes me want to smash things up. And there are a lot of deaths. If all those Warhammer omnibuses I own count, then I like them too. Dan Abnett needs to stop being so awesome, and the Black Library needs to stop being so..expensive. Ugh.

I can't advocate just one, so here's some, least favorite to most;

The Inheritance Trilogy (Eragon, Brisingr, ect) by Christopher Paolini is my guilty pleasure. Really glad he's making it into a another book! The third one, while sometimes poorly written (I think he rushed it) added a lot to the characters and I'm expecting the fourth to be better.

The Bartimaeus Trilogy is by far one of my favorites - the ending made me cry in a car full of people.

Harry Potter. 'Twas my childhood, and still sits up there as one of my all time favorite series.

And finally, my favorite; the Vampire Chronicles - or at least the first three. I tried reading the Body Thief, and I just can't get through it. Haven't tried any others.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy. It's pure genius almost all the way through and it also gives you the answer to life, the universe and everything!

He's not really that old and his age doesn't hamper him at all. He's the same misanthrope every author almost seems obligated to create in every fantasy universe and the author of Ranger's Apprentice almost ignores physics and reality when he made a stumpy ranger being able to take on barbarians by himself. Not to mention a 14 y/o boy being able to get stomped on by a horse and live.
Someone doesn't know the meaning of misanthrope. Oh and the "fantasy universe" "ignores physics and reality" in the same sentence made me lol.

I fucking love A Song of Ice and Fire. GRRM has created such a vivd world that even though it isn't nearly as detailed as Tolken (who I hate) I still find myself wishing I could go sit on the banks of the Trident and search for Rheagar's rubies, or go and Marvle at the masive wall of ice that keeps the wildlings and something much more sinister at bay. Or to watch the Tourny of the Hand and see that shit go down (if you read the book you know what I'm talking about they just filmed it for the HBO series). I might even want to go to the Twins and meet the Frey's of pnly to punch Lord Walder in the face.

I've never been good at just accepting things though. Even in a Song of Ice and Fire, I always asked "Why?".

And George always gave me an answer.
I don't know about that I've always found Arya a little unbeleivable with all the shit she gets up to.

Also I just curious who you think Jon Snow's mother is.

My favorite book series is easily the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher.

The books are basically Phillip Marlowe stories as told by Gandalf. Definitely awesome. And if you need any more incentive to check them out, the following picture is an accurate summation of the essence of the books:

Edit: In case anyone's wondering, yes that is a zombie T-Rex, and yes that actually happens.
Oh God. I have a stack of books sitting right next to me as I type. I finished at least twelve books in about a month. I hate reading, btw.

Oh and Harry Potter.

Eragon! And Bartimaeus! Someone get this guy a drink!

The Bartimaeus trilogy could be such a good set of films......

Brisingr is good, but theres no sense of urgency or interesting twists....
