Its not a video game, but the stargate series
Agreed, and since you brought it up, I'm going to get something off my chest that's been bugging me:
[rage]
SINCE WHEN DID THE STARGATE HAVE A LIMITED RANGE!?!?!?
[/rage]
ok, I'm done now.

... and back on topic, Star Trek too. Some franchises need to be brought to an end while they're still ahead.
I haven't watched Stargate in a while. Is it really bad now?

Also Id have to say FF (Final fantasy games) first one I played was FF7, was amazing, love it still even today for nostalgia feelings.

I played FF8....got around the time after you found out Rinoa was some kinda of angel of death and you were all kids or raised in the same family or orphanage or AHHH WTF WAS WRONG WITH THE STORY?!?!?, I think around disk 2-3 and just stopped playing, I actually hated it.

after FF7 I went back and picked up FF1-6 and they were actually good got my ass kicked many times, damn the games were challenging (I really am confused as the what 1-6 I played since they were translated and numbered differently if you tried to find them in the US at the time)

I took one look at FF9 and said "the hell?" and never played it.

played FF X, and it was fun, liked it and played it through to the end, playing blitz ball pissed me off tho, hated every moment of it, thankfully everything else made up for that bull.

FF X-2....well at least it had scantly clad women to stare at...

FF 12....well at least it had scantly clad women to stare at...

Would have loved to say what I thought about FF13 IF I COULD FUCKING PLAY IT, more cinimatics then MGS4 and thats saying ALOT and I loved MGS4, even if you skip them you have a Idea what WTF your supposed to be doing "destroy metal gear, save the world".

after that I decided FF was done, no more redeeming factor and was dying a horrible death of that of Halo and CoD, filled with fanboys and zealots (tho I think that would be the same thing, meh..) oh and multiplayer is awesome on those games don't get me wrong, but I can only stand 3 weeks of that before its done.

Yahtzee said it best, "when it became more about spectacle the substance, all about skinny 15 year olds looking they were dress up by outfits designed by a achesketch then fed through a threshing machine, endless gardy cinematic, retarded angst drama bloated unwieldy menu driven combat."

Crash and Spyro. Those were my childhood games. Now Crash is an Action game and the new Spyro will be played with toys.
I want my childhood back...

Final Fantasy. TBH, none of them were ever my favourite games, but anything after IX was actually painful to play. I needed a shower after 10 minutes on XIII.

Final Fantasy has craped out after 7. FF8 was awful, FF9 was very good so I thought 8 was a fluke but, 10, X-2 were crap, 12 was OK and, I have no wish to play 13.

I'm going with final fantasy also, loved up to 7, didn't like 8, thought it was turning around with 9 and gave up after that.

Also, Suikoden, the first was amazing and I was pretty disappointed after that.

Breath of fire was another, the first two looked like an incredible start to the series, then they slowly trailed down. 3 wasn't terrible, but it didn't hold up to the first two and they went down from there.

Crash Bandicoot, definately. What else... most of the Final Fantasy games. I'm afraid that F.3.A.R. will be trash.

as for movies

It gets worse. The screenwriter for the next Highlander movie also worked on the Twilight movies.

-The Fallout series

The first two were amazing RPGs for their time and then Fallout 3 came along and ruined the mythology.

I mean come on the Brotherhood of steel are good guys now ?! The Enclave the evil ones ? WTF Bethesda ?

-Warcraft series

the first 3 were RTS bliss but when wow came along it ruined both the universe and the series.

Star Fox. Assault was decent but as far as I know there hasn't been any since then(and no DS doesn't count).

It's not trash, but I preffered my Street Fighter in full 2d. I dont think that counts, but its similar.

Samurai Shodown, it hasnt had any fir treatment since part 3. Part 4 was meh, like an expansion. Part 5 is pretty much M.u.g.e.n., and the 3d one, I got, but online is deader than fried chicken, and the game itself, whilst bemusing, isn't really standing out on its own that much, aside from the fact that you can remove limbs at the ends of matches.

Bushido Blade was awesome. It became Kengo. ><

Tenchu was awesome. Then they released it on the wii. ><
(the 360 version was awesome, and ppl still play it online)

I love Gran Tourismo 5, but I have a nagging suspicion that Kaz wanted/needed about another year or so with it. (considering only SOME of the cars are premium. wtf?) The free roam open city online MMO mode would have been stellar, and well worth the wait.

Goldeneye. No shields, No true 'classic' mode with fixed damage and non-regenrating health, no weapon pickups. And they had the nerve to call that map "Facility"

Dragon Quest, sure it had long since been a cheap pixel mash, but when it hit the 8th on PS2 it was pure beauty, which of course got stomped into dirt by nintendo when they bought the rights to it after 8, they took the thousand-step-backwards route into pixel-land with 9, and i assume they'll do it again and again.

I felt the Final Fantasy Tactics series went down hill. The first game was my favorite game of all time. Advanced was somewhat fun and kept me entertained though the game was too easy playing through, then the game got too hard too fast thanks to ridiculous laws which I despised in the system. Then A2 in my opinion was horrible, I never followed the laws for bonuses which was nice, but the story had one plot and that was to herp derp around and solve nothing other then to have an invisible hand write in your diary for you. Though the last entree the remake War of the Lions was welcomed and I truly hope if they make another one it takes place during the rule of a certain King which I will not go into details about for sake of spoilers.
