There is no such thing as fair play in true combat, which is what martial arts train you for. I train in use of a rifle to save not only MY life but the lives of the people I deploy with from people who use bombs to attack us. You want to talk about fair? Tell that to the 31 people who didn't make it back from my last deployment because they were killed by roadside bombs. Tell them that using a firearm to protect yourself isn't fair.

That's what I thought.
Mate I don't believe a word of what you are saying. You just seem like a cocky prick. Get over yourself. Oh and your big long post about your rifle. First of all I don't believe you have a rifle, and second, you could have just said 'm4 carbine', practically everyone on this site will know what that is.
Practically doesn't mean everyone. Being able to tell you about something I take pride in is no different than anyone gushing over their favorite anime. Like it, hate, I honestly don't give a shit.

And no, I'm not cocky. Just a little tired, a little frustrated, and all around rather annoyed by the statement he made. Now honestly, I don't give a crap what you think of what I say. If it's true or not is something you can try to argue with me until the end of time but I'll stick with what I said. I'm proud of my integrity and will stand by it no matter what. Honestly though, until you've smelled what burnt flesh smells like, and had to help unload charred and blood soaked gear from the wrecked skeleton of what used to be an up-armored HMMWV and even see someone you know wheeled out of the operating room a lot shorter than he was when you last saw him, and then see him taken to a waiting truck to move him to the helipad to airlift him to what counts for a hospital you won't really get it. There is no true honor in combat. There is only doing what you can to protect yourself, your battle buddies, and the innocent civilians in the area. So all this crap about fighting fair, or having no honor in using a firearm is bullshit. Because in the end no one cares about honor out there. They just care about making sure everyone gets home in one piece.
Ok maybe not cocky, but obnoxious. This is what I mean though and this time I'll say it in a none-aggressive way. You just seem to rant on about what you've done or seen or whatever and realistically people don't care. It is totally off topic, what I am saying to you now is also off topic but I feel the need to let you know. The fact that you have smelt burnt flesh and seen people die etc. will not get you any sympathy at all on here. Lets say for the sake of argument you are telling the truth, there are many many more people who have experienced far worse things than you, and I don't see them ranting about it in forums.

P.S. Personally I like guns too, I go shooting about once a month using a remington 700. I love sniping, it's the way I am. I do not care about honour however. If being cheap leads me to 'win' in whatever sense, then that is the best way to go.

Bo Staff. Hands down. It has to be the easiest weapon to improvise on the fly and just looks awesome as it's flying through the air up until it hits you in the face.
Seconded, it has a certain beauty about it. I would réally like to master the bo staff, probably never will though

My other choice would be the wakizashi:

Basicly a short katana, used by ninja's (although modified with a larger handle), according to Wikipedia). Although I see the awesomeness of the katana, it's a bit too large for me. Hacking and slashing, so messy, kinda cumbersome for close-quarters combat. Maybe a bit too...ritual, hence why I prefer the wakizashi, for stabbing.

Sad but true, the time when combat was still honerable is over :( Also, the pre-gun area wasn't all honor and dignity as well. Simply proven by 2 words: Genghis Khan. Swords are more personal though, instead of flicking a switch a couple of miles away to bomb some people. O well, as you sad, on today's battlefield honor doesn't matter anymore.

@ ChromeAlchemist:
Lulz, the moustache of that nodachi wielding guy is more awesome then the sword itself :p

i do Karate, which translates to something like "Empty Hand" or similar, though my stream (Goju Rhu (sp?)) is centered around doing the most damage possible using any part of your body that you can to make an impact, and take the high ground.

so, from experience i'd have to say that my favorite weapon is my open palm. if you lunge with it, you can shatter ribs, cave-in jaws and skulls, and do all manner of unpleasant things to a persons arms.
then you turn you chosen hand 90 degrees, and you have a hammer.

i love the hand. it's so versitile it's almost untrue.

and of course, if you get bored, you can always just punch the bugger

Bo Staff, Naginata, and Katana are the ones I can use efficiently. The Bo Staff is my favorite for its simplicity, versatility, and concealability (Staff? What staff? This is a walking stick).

I'd say mine would be to dual wield a katana and a wakizashi together, as most martial arts use nothing resembling a shield, apart from handguards and those weird defensive sword thingys Michaelangelo uses in Teenage Mutant Nija Turtles...
Duel wielding is sort of impractical because you may always need a free hand.

I like nunchucks, because it's always funny watching people try it and hitting themselves on the head :D, they're impracticality is what makes me love them.

I like the ninjitus kantana is shorter and has a straight blade with a square hilt, looks cool and compact for close quarters
I think you meant the wakizashi
As katana are a main side arm (samurai only used katana in close quarters and prefer to use bows) while the wakizashi is purely used as a side arm, so yeah I think that is what you meant.
As for my faviorite martial arts weapons... THE GLOCK 18!
I might of chosen a rifle, but they are 2 handed weapons, which are harder to hide.
No no he is talking about the ninjutsu katana. The swords the ninja's used that were poorly made and weren't even very sharp because of that, hence ninjas always stabbed rather than slashed :p I think they look very cool also though :)

My fave would be the wakazashi, I have like 5 katanas, 2 bokkens, 1 wakazashi and 1 tanto, so I need more wakazashi's but they seem hard to get on their own, always sold in sets of 3 with the katana and tanto

Nun Chucks, because they are the most useless wepon ever, a yo-yo does more damage, and your less likely to hit yourself with a yo-yo.
