Could I ask what that has to do with Hitler having an upper hand when it came to U-boats, or are you referring to the fact that he lost the upper hand because those two events occured?

OT: My favourite is the Welrod.

It's the centre one of course.

The X8 rifle. Damned shame they cancelled that, it looks sexy, really future-ish. Would've loved to see that as the next standard rifle, but nooooo....

I want one, like, now.
whyd they cancel it? those look fuckin insane
Because they just weren't terribly great rifles for the price. The M4 carbine has WAY more options as far as what you can do with it, and actually costs less per unit. So they'll keep using the M4 (Though they MAY be switching to 6.8 sooner or later) until something that actually improves the design comes around.
If Iraq has taught me anything it's that the military does not care what the hell it will cost. From what I understand the X series was canceled based on feedback from soldiers in the fields who needed a larger caliber and less complex weapon that was easy to maintain in harsh conditions. The SCAR is scheduled to go in service to replace the M4 models in a few years.

Ooh, shiny! I'm a little out of the loop, thanks of the update. Also: I had no idea the SCAR's grenade launcher was that ambidextrous. Very cool.

I have to agree with the people who said M14. It looks like an M1, fires a rifle round (no intermediates here!), and its FULL FUCKIN AUTO!! Well, only the first run. Then they found out that it had way too much recoil to be full auto. But, still badass.

Hmm, I'd probably have to go with the H&K G11.
It never actualy saw service, but it was all ready to go until a heat-distribution problem got it delayed. By the time the H&K fixed the problem, their contract was cancelled, putting the final nail in the G11's coffin.

It's a shame that it never got a chance to prove it's self, it could have revolutionized the concept of the assault rifle.

For one, its hand guard melted under extended fire, and it lacked any ability to mount attachments currently in the US arsenal so those would have to completely restocked. Also, all in all, it didn't offer enough advantages over the M4/M16 to warrant the expense of changing over.
Anyway, any battle ship. I mean, how do you get rid of this?http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ea/BB61_USS_Iowa_BB61_broadside_USN.jpg

The B2 Bomber. Why you ask, because it looks cool (and my dad help build it).
The B2 is still in active service. In fact, I attended Northrop Grumman's, "B2 20th Anniversary," celebration at the company's Palmdale, CA complex last summer. They will be around for a long time to come, and I am not familure with any plans to retire them any time soon. They are actually looking for interns at Northrop Grumman to transfer the old B2 design drawings into CATIA so design changes can be made to keep the aircraft up-to-date.

M1 Garand
M79 Grenade launcher
MG 42
T-34
Rail cannons: http://www.tee-usa.com/store/media/kato23601.jpg
Armoured trains: http://static.panoramio.com/photos/original/1151639.jpg

The SPAS 12 is a cool shotgun, and you can still get your hands on them (if you're obscenely rich and have too much time on your hands). There's only a few thousand in the US, and they don't import them anymore.

On the other hand, they didn't handle recoil terribly well, and were... finicky.

There are quite a few that I miss.

Iowa class battleships - DEAR GOD THE FIREPOWER!

The M1 Garand - It is still a great rifle, and, "The greatest battle impliment ever devised."

This one is my personal favorite!

Wait for it...

...

...

...

The F-14 Tomcat! I was so sad when it was retired.

Those two events lost him the upper hand just so you are clear ^.^ (in my opinion anyway) The U-boats gave him a huge advantage when it came to the brits since it basically cut off their supplies and he basically controlled the waters around europe

I had the chance to buy one a few years ago for $400. I am kinda sad that I didn't. It would be cool to have one in my collection. However, I too have heard that they had some issues. I also heard that they were picky about certain shells and didn't like to cycle certain aummunition types reliably.

Man, you really SHOULD have jumped on that. My friend almost got one for $800, but he needed to buy an entry weapon (he's law enforcement... frighteningly...), and got a Remington 870 instead.

Am I going to get in trouble for pointing out that the Rapier is not a military weapon? In fact the whole concept of there being military and civilian weapons really came about with the development of the rapier as a sword worn and used for duels and protection on the streets.

If I'm going with a military weapon I'd have to say the Victorian period sabre advocated by Alfred Hutton. Light with a slight curve, easy to carry and a joy to use.

Failing that a backsword.

I have to go with the Davy Crockett [i/]Atomic Annie[/i].
Those look funny.

I suppose I'll say... The Lee Enfield Rifle.
Those are quite good rifles... and all my other favourites are still in use somewhere.
Those are my favourite too. The lee enfield was in service for nearly 70 years. Its hard to top that. It was reliable, accurate and easy to use. A near perfect weapon.
I am also quite partial to the vickers machine gun. Saw service from ww1 right the way through to the problems in malaya.
The 1911 was the service pistol from 1911-1990, totally beats out the Enfield for service history. :p

Yes you are in trouble. Now go to your room and think about what you've done.
