The German MP44. I'm not hugely knowledgeable about weapons, but my readings on WW2 tell me that was quite the sub-machine gun. Plus it's awesome in CoD!
Apparently the MP44 was the first gun ever made entirely out of metal, although it was said to be far less effective than the Thompson counterpart because it fired small rounds that went incredibly fast which meant they punched right though a soldier but left a hole that was probably smaller than a pencil. The heavier slower rounds of the thompson expended all of their energy directly into the target causing crater sized wounds.
You might be getting a little confused. The STG-44 was the first assault rifle, meaning that it fired rifle rounds, not pistol rounds like the Thompson or MP-40. That is the difference between SMG's and Assault Rifles. The STG-44 fired 7.92mm rifle rounds, unlike the .45 cal pistol rounds used by the Thompson, or the 9mm pistol rounds of the MP-40. The STG-44 had a far heavier round than the Thompson, bit similarly it did kick like a mule.

Actually the stg 44's round is a 7.92x33mm kurz("short" in english) which isn't a rifle round. It lands inbetween the 9mm (mp40)submachine gun round and the longer 7.92x57mm Kar98k round. had it been a rifle round the stg 44 would have been a Automatic rifle like the BAR.
also my favourite gun Mauser C96.

Quite right. My bad.

I just saw the "7.92" part and lept to conclusions. Good research.

Lee-Enfield Rifle- accurate and so fast firing the German's thought they where up against machine gun fire when they first encountered Tommy's using them.

There isn't anything that can beat the Chicago Typewriter, or as the technical people call it, the m1921. Soooo awesome and evocative.

The Gattling Gun. I think theres one left belonging to someones military (Probably the Americans) but its not used any more.

Oh and by that i mean the infantry-ish one. I know that there is a type of fighter jet which has a gattling gun attatched to its nose.

The X8 rifle. Damned shame they cancelled that, it looks sexy, really future-ish. Would've loved to see that as the next standard rifle, but nooooo....

I want one, like, now.
Check out the G36K. Pretty similar.

I like katanas... or just swords in general.

No thanks, I love the X8 for it's round, smooth and sleek design. The G36K doesn't have any of that sadly.

It can't shoot anything, it for reconnaissance but hey intelligence is a weapon of sorts, the SR-71 Blackbird. A spy planes whose defence against ground to air missiles was to simply outrun them, I think it's still the fastest plane, or indeed anything, ever built.
