Anything from Metroid, including remixes *cough*www.metroidmetal.com*cough*. Also, pretty much anything from Castlevania. And Dragon Quest. And, not to bash on Halo any more than it needs, but the halo 1,2,3 soundtrack is not something I'd buy. I mean, yeah the opening theme is good, but that's all I remember from all of the games, which leads me to believe that during the games there was a.) no music at all, b.) bad music (or at least music that didn't suit the mood), or c.) music too quiet to notice. Once again, no offense intended.

The boss music from Final Fantasy seven, after that comes the Jenova Battle music, again from Final Fantasy seven.

The Snake Eater theme, it's so delicously tacky how can i not love it? (Plus the instrumental alone sounds like cheesey porno music, always fun to make grunting and slapping sounds to.)

The first level music from Kirby's dream land for the original Gameboy.

and of course, live and learn from Sonic adventure battle. (I forget which one)

You kinda have to have experienced it in context, but the Cornered theme from Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.

Also the boss music from the latest Trauma Center game. A lot of the rest of the music feels really out of place. During the invasion of the bad guy's lair, it's playing calm, jazzy music. WHAT.

yeah the world ends with you has a great soundtrack... I love that one song... and if you have played the game (english version) you know wich one I mean.
Anyway most classical game scores are to my liking. I was suprised with the SSBB theme it's so ... grand.

I like the music of Metroid Prime 2 when it first comes on and starts showing the credits

Devil May Cry 3 and 4, Metal Gear Solid 4, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I haven't played it in a while, but I recall Okage: Shadow King having a great soundtrack, and Kingdom Hearts II. (I didn't notice until after I finished writing my list, but those are also my favorite games. Coincidence?)

Definitely the Alien Trilogy video game. It can be eerie but at the same time engaging.

I would have to say the techno gameplay theme to the iPhone game Cube Runner. If you have an iPhone, 3G, or an iPod Touch that has the App store buy it because it's fun and FREE.

Sarias song was stuck in my head for days after hearing it. The Longest Journey soundtrack was very good as well, also available for free from the funcom site for anyone interested.

1 song I found good in any games. Breaking Benjamin - Blow Me Away from Halo 2 which was played for like 20 seconds unless you stop playing and sit around which isn't fair. It's the only song I ever downloaded after hearing it in a game.

Yasuhiro Kawasaki did Illusion of Gaia, whole game was underrated, but it was an excellent game.
couldnt agree more. The game was great except the crappy random ass ending that made next to no sense at all. Still had great music. I am also surprised no one has mentioned mega man X music. Zero's theme, X1 opening stage theme, armored armadillo, STORM EAGLE!! Those games had some truly awesome music.
Yeah, even it being two days later...I agree. MMX was an awesome game.

I think a list is in order:
-Nobou Uematsu's work on Final Fantasy(the majority).
-The battle themes from Devil May Cry 1,3,and 4. (Though 4 had the weakest of those, and 2 only had like 1 good track).
-Eternal Sonata, though you would expect this from a game based around the music-inspired dream world of a famous composer.
-Shadow of the Colossus, epic music for an epic game.
-Some of the Halo stuff. (The most memorable being Rock Anthem for Saving the World)
-Ocarina of Time was good all around in the audio department. (Favorite being Gerudo Valley theme)
-Metroid Prime series also had some memorable tracks.
-Half Life 2 and it's episodes for their techno-battle themes.
-The theme for the first level of Megaman Zero 2.
-The soundtrack for MGS 2, thanks to Harry-Gregson Williams.
And a bunch more I'm probably forgetting.

I agree with the Gerudo Valley theme being awesome, I just found this fantastic piano rendition of it, it sounds great.

I'm a sucker for oldies. Give me megaman 2 musics any day (my cell phone's ringtone bubble man's theme). Old C64 musics are also great, Commando, IK+, Last Ninja, so beautiful with so poor sound chip (if you look at it now, the chip was great when it came out).
