My first and only gun so far. It sure is pretty and fun to shoot. Heavy too since it's all stainless steel.

I only have an air-rifle. The idea that everyone is armed is scary, anyone can flip out at any moment and shoot people. I understand the American 'being armed for protection' back during revolution and such but I still think present day it is just asking for trouble.
Fucking hell! A Five-SeveN? Are you a cop or in the military, or are gun laws really that lax where you live? Do you really need a pistol that can fit armor piercing rounds but has light stopping power?

It might not look too fancy, but it's the gold standard. Light, simple, reliable and if the first round doesn't stop an attacker, you'll have 19 more rounds in the magazine to correct your mistake.

guns aren't legal where I live.
The only rifle I've ever fired was a chinese 5.5 millimeter bolt action rifle.
when I get older I'm probably migrating to Turkey, where you can buy weapons easily.

The GP 35, intimmiadting therefore may not actually need to fire it (course if I had to I'm a decent shot).
Wow, disinformation ahoy. The armour piercing ammunition for the FN is only available to police and law enforcement. The claim that gun owners were more likely to be shot by their own weapons was based on a study of not of private citizens, but of police officers, who in gun circles have notoriously lax gun handling habits. And also tend to lose far more weapons proportionately than private gun owners, but that's neither here nor there.
On topic, the first gun I fired was a battered CZ-75 9mil. I own a licensed .40 caliber Hk Usp Compact. Where I live, we tend to get violent home invasions and a fair bit of violent crime. So I got myself a firearm and the training to go with it - and it's the training that makes all the difference, not the weapon. Criminals by and large don't have any real proficiency with weapons, and count on the fear factor to win confrontations.
As for the OP's choice - the FN would not be my first choice, since the ammunition is expensive and hard to come by, and the gun itself has a bad reputation, which may stack up against you should you ever have to defend using it in court. On the flipside, it's light, accurate and has virtually no recoil, so follow-up shots are very very quick. The round itself isn't great - less the armour-piercing ability of its military cousin, it's just a necked down mouse round - but its size means that a standard magazine carries quite a few.
