Checking my inbox... I was never given a warning before my first probation, where I made a generalization about furries... It wasn't really WRONG either. In fact, my post sparked a string of responses and only one of them was slightly butthurt. The rest laughed.
Then I got suspended for posting a link to something that was NSFW, but I tagged it as such. I felt that was unfair that it resulted in a 7-day ban when it could have just been a warning, especially considering that the mod sent me a message saying "Linking to offensive content is not mitigated by a NSFW line. Don\'t do it." Clearly I didn't know any better because I wouldn't have done it if I did.
Then I got put on probation because I started my post with the word "************," quoting someone. I was being clearly hyperbolic for the sake of humor and the person I was quoting acknowledged the joke and never took offense. I even PM'd him after the fact to get his take on it and he said he didn't take offense and then proceeded to rant about the moderation policies of this site.
Then I got suspended for calling someone out in a way that was actually constructive... They were trying to give advice on a certain topic and they were covered with reasons as to why they should never give advice about that... Let's just say it was like a blind person giving tips on driving. The worst part about THIS one is the mod who suspended me left the message: "Don\'t insult other users. Take a break to grow up." I'll accept being told to not insult users, this place isn't 4chan, but seriously? Being told by a mod to "grow up" in a suspension letter? Isn't that a little hypocritical? Especially since the way I said things wasn't necessarily even insulting. It was just shedding light on VALID negative aspects of a person for RELEVANT discussion.
The few mods I've interacted with on this forum directly have been really nice and sensible, but I've had some anonymous others wake up on the wrong side of the bed and taken it out on me.
