Unpopular opinion?

I think people are too harsh on Bioware

guilty pleasure? TBH any game counts as a guilty pleasure
I can 1-up that. I think people are too harsh on EA.

(I wonder if there exists a big enough flame-shield to protect me now)
Don't worry man, I'll help you hold that shield up.

Guilty pleasure: either Fight Night which i adore or CoD multiplayer...

unpopular opinion: Graphics don't matter at all as long as gameplay is good!

The Fable series tends to get a lot of ire, but I enjoy them ALL, for they all have strengths and weaknesses over each other.
I get the impression that most of the fandom just thinks each sequel is getting worse, but I disagree.

Fable 1: Graphics have aged well, specifically the actual environment. The leaves and trees, the backgrounds are just absolutely gorgeous. Every area portrays a wonderful atmosphere.
Odd thing to say, since it's a REALLY old game. But I still have it installed.

Fable 2: Strengthened character customization, tenfold. The dyes are easier to handle than in the third (Though the third's hue/darkness dyeability is nice). I could play the same archetype several times and not have her look the same.
I still return to this game when I want to play through the Crucible :D Somehow it doesn't get that old.
Weak? Story felt practically copy/pasted from the first, they just turned 1-2 years into 10 in the prison section.

Fable 3: Strongest story of the series, a bit sad that it took a dive in character customization. The voice acting of the hero, while nice and a good move, felt a tad unnecessary. Maybe if they gave us better lines, because the dialog itself didn't feel natural. (The voice acting of our heroes themselves was fine, though)
Had a strong story, but the whole "You can't unlock things until a certain part in the story" was kind of a dick move on the designer's part.
The Arena was weaker, too. Didn't feel like an arena.

Fable 4: Give us better stealth

As said before I actually loved Mass Effect 3 up until the ending, even that I think has been exaggerated by everyone. Also I love me some Theme Park World and Sims, I dont care what my friends say The Sims is manly!

The first Two Worlds is a pretty fun, enjoyable game. That's a fairly rare opinion, to my knowledge.
This. It obviously wasnt a very well designed game, but it had a certain je ne cais quoi, plus the map and enemies were pretty interesting and varied.

The only good thing about Two Worlds I can say is the combat. I did enjoy how the combat worked, as well as some of the atmosphere.

But pretty much everything else from writing to mechanics were just, meh.

Well, I`m not sure I really have a guily pleasure outside of maybe the fact that I actually really enjoyed Dragon Age 2 and plan to play through it again at some point.

When it comes to unpopular opinions, however, I`ve definitely got a few.
- I don`t believe that Mass Effect 3 was a bad game and I don`t beleive it`s lackluster ending somehow ruins the game (or entire series).
- I believe used games are hurting the industry as we know it and offer 100% support for things like online codes and Project $10 as ways to promote new copy purchases
- I believe gamers these days are extremely entitled and definitely cross the line from logical consumer self interest into illogical whining, crying and tantrum throwing when they don`t get their way (and yet they still play the games they piss and moan about no matter how evil they supposedly are)

Unpopular Opinion: Mass Effect 2 was crap compared to Mass Effect 1.

Did you hear that Molyneux left Lionhead? Judging by what they spit out without him (Fable Heroes) I wouldn't set yourself up for disappointment with Fable 4 should it exist, especially if you appreciated his work on the trilogy.

Alone in the Dark: Inferno. This is the game as it should have been released, but this improved version was released later as a PS3 exclusive, and by then, most had dismissed the game as broken.
Thank you for this. I own the 360 version and felt it could have been great with some polishing and tweaks, and was under the impression that it was just called "inferno" to differentiate it from the other ones in name. Added to "pick up if I find it" list.

I suppose I respectfully disagree. I played through it in the last 6 months and still enjoyed it, but I'm noticing that my patience for random encounters is not what it was when I was younger. I will admit that Cecil having to "defeat" his former self through non-violence to redeem himself as a paladin to the Mysidians was superior storytelling and such an early example of story through gameplay, and I'm amazed after all these years it's been matched only a handful of times.

I thought of a couple more:

I wasn't upset about a lot of the streamlining in ME2, as I don't believe the series was really meant to be a full-blown RPG as we knew them from Bioware, It seems in retrospect that a lot of the weapon mods/crazy customization UI were added to justify the "RPG" part of action-RPG. There's still dialog choices in 2/3, and that's what really allows you to *role-play*. I never expected KOTOR with their own canon outside of Star Wars.

Another pleasure I have, though with no guilt, just weird stares and confusion from people, is that I'm totally addicted to getting as many units folded as possible on PS3. I bought a slim, and I kept my fat PS3 so that there's always one folding 24/7. If anyone could provide evidence/insight as to how I'm not helping anyone achieve anything with this, I could lower my electric bill quite a bit. Until then it makes me happy.

I like Skyrim and other fantasy rpgs

I like RTS games, base building ones specifically, not so much squad micro.(Sins, Supreme Commander, Starcraft, DoW)

I like a wide variety of FPS (Tribes, CSS, CoD, Halo, TF2, KF, Unreal, Painkiller, Metro 2033, STALKER, Bioshock, Crysis)

I like a ton of mmos (WoW, DDO, GW1&2, Rift, SWTOR, Champions), unless it has too much freemium browsery garbage.

I like racing games (burnout and need for speed, and kart racers like modnation)

I love indie games (Botanicula, Braid, Cthulhu Saves the world, VVVVVV, Super Meat Boy, etc)

I like third person shooters (Sniper Elite, Gears of War, Space Marine, Splinter Cell, Saints Row)

Basically I'm a man of many games. I don't care so much about reviews and popular opinion, I just play what I find fun. I hate this notion of brand loyalty and fanboyism because I CAN LIKE MORE THAN ONE TITLE. I don't need some idiot telling me that him hating a game takes precedence over my enjoyment. People are so biased they can't grasp me liking Warcraft AND Guild Wars AND other mmos. It just doesn't compute with them on a basic level. Its funny really.

I think this is generally a "mainstream" people issue, or in particular teenagers. Some people like to be in their clique or niche and are comfortable there, and can't imagine how someone can enjoy something from their niche and move outward.

A personal example would be someone catching me listening to Nick Drake and saying "what the hell? I thought you were a metalhead!" A hypothetical example would be someone saying "You went to see the Avengers? I could have sworn you were a romantic-comedy person."

Your interests should not be a defining factor of your personality, and I couldn't imagine purposefully restricting myself to the one niche I felt would define me best. I would get tired of it, and feeling "meh" about something I love doesn't sound appealing. Gaming is not immune to these human tendencies.

Guilty Pleasure -- Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. I've beaten it 3 times and still playing it.

Unpopular opinion -- love 40k pc games, and can't wait for moar.

Read this is you want a more detailed look into what was changed. But yeah, I bought the PC version for the collector's edition, was left feeling the game could've been much more, then bought Inferno months later for cheap, and it's totally worth it.

Some of the 'simulators' Excalibur churn out from time to time, it's easier to switch off to than the TV.

How is Space Marine a guilty pleasure? The game has an active multiplayer community and was pretty well received.

Likewise, Dawn of War is considered one of the best RTS games ever made, and the older 40k games are mostly fondly remembered classics, so not sure about the unpopular opinion either.

I don't mean to nitpick. I'm just a giant 40k nerd (been playing for close to 20 years) and that is not the impression I get at all.

Guilty pleasure: I played the shit out of Red Faction Guerilla (hundred hours+, I guess). Loved that game.
I also kind of like the old A2 racer games, which is a Dutch racing game series which is... pretty terrible. Not really into racing games anyway, that's probably why I like it.

Unpopular opinion: Deus Ex Human Revolution is shite. So is Bioshock. Not because I don't like games with a strong narrative but rather because I do, and they just pretend to deliver on a deep and meaningful story and then they don't. Also, I hate pretensions. I didn't like Bastion either, very boring gameplay and the narration was terrible IMO.

I'm looking forward to The Elder Scrolls Online.

Don't really have any guilty pleasures, though.
