Finding out what a Deathclaw is. I was just starting the game and got curious. I was probably like a level 2. I went looking around the map and sure enough, I run into like 4 Deathclaws right outside of Deathclaw Sanctuary. I screamed bs and rage quit with the gf behind me. Embarrassing and surprising all at the same time.

The first time I wandered into the Museum of Natural History and realized that so many ghouls were attacking me I was in a George Romero film. Very terrifying - they really do the zombie isolation feel well when they choose to pull the card.

I loved the Herbert Dashwood Shows on Galaxy News Radio. I thought they were very, very funny and i had a blast listening to te them, while i journeyd the the Wastelands.
I was very suprised to meet Herbert Dashwood in person and even more suprised as i found out about the fate of Argyle.

Best moment in Fallout 3.....at least for me. :)

Point Lookout, when you ingest a certain type of plant and find a certain dead someone on a table with a birthday hat.

I was like "Oh, fuck no they did not!".

But they did.

EDIT: Non quest related, I came upon a fight between an Albino Radscorpion, 2 Giant Radscorpions, 4 Enclave Soldiers and a Sentry Bot all practically humping each other.

4 Nuka Grenades sorted them out pretty well. Oh, and I found one of the other girls from the vault near the garage that goes to vault 112. Susie Mack I think. Dead when I arrived though, poor thing.

When blowing up Megaton did not yield an equal number of missions. There I was thinking the developers that give two distinct paths (Good and Evil) would make them equal. Nope. Blowing up Megaton gives you about 3 missions with Tenpenny Tower, as opposed to all the missions you get in the Survival Book chain alone. And me without a save point prior. Sad day.
you can still completed the survival guide even after you blow up megaton.if you go to megaton the women will be at the outside as a ghoul, or at underworld

That never happend to me. Somehow :) Megaton got blown up, but the Survival Book- quest npc was nowhere to be found. Neither outside Megaton, nor in Undercity. :(

Looking up and watching a Deathclaw fly past.

Yes, I'm serious, it happened.

#1 The last scene with entering that damn code in Jefferson's Memorial. I was surprised to see an ending cutscene, no matter what choice I made. Fawkes would survive that amount of radiation and I would just walk right out of there not-dead, but obviously, they had to screw that up.

#2 Broken Steel released. F* yeah, I'm back from the dead!

Go to the underworld, Moira is there, you can still do the Wasteland Survival Guide quest.
Is this a spoiler? *shrug*

Possibly when i was shat out by my now deceased mother with a fully concious mind, and even more so when they asked me to decide my future apearance, without bothering to cut my umbilicol cord. AND THEN I chose to all of a sudden change my sex using the apearance machine. Do you know what it feels like to have your testicles instantly vapourised? I think not. Good day to you Sir!

Probably when I took out all the raiders in Evergreen Mills and the behemoth only using three or four stimpaks. Well, I suprised myself anyway.

I'm not sure if this guy is always by Super-Duper Mart, but there was this one merchant who was fucking STONED OUT OF HIS MIND. I go up to talk to him and he's saying shit like, "The world is GREEN." And then he dies. I have no idea what that was all about. It kinda freaked me out.
I found him too! I'm with you on being freaked out by it.

What momnet was most surprising to you in your time playing Fallout 3? Why did it surprise you?

My most surprising moment was when I stumbled across Oasis by accident. I was first surprised by the green plants that dotted the pathway to the gate. Then I finally got inside and was awestruck at what I saw: trees, living trees. However I was surprised the most when I met Harold and Herbert (aka Bob).

Honorable Mention is when you meet President John Henry Eden.

When I first turned on Liberty Prime.

OK, surprising bits...

I was playing a character straight out of the vault, and decided to stock up on weapons from the Super-Duper Mart. I got the quest and went off to kill a bunch of Raiders. I got there to find a group of slaves in a gunfight with some other dudes over a fridge full of clean water, while Raiders traded shots with an Enclave Drone and some Wasteland settlers. During all this, that kid from Greyditch ran up to me and asked if I'd help him save his dad. After telling him I hoped he burnt to death like his father, I came out of the conversation as a stray bullet set the car I was standing next to on fire. After running away, I started taking potshots at anything that wasn't me. One of the shots hit the car that had been set on fire, started a chain reaction that got every car in the car park and wiped out everything, leaving me with one dot of health. I went to tell my roommate the whole story, and came back to the game to see a stray dog charging at me - I managed to get the controller and go into VATS as it got close... And missed all four shots. Instant death, hundreds of caps worth of stuff, gone.

Another time I came across a huge pile of bodies, Enclave, Deathclaws and Talon Company. It took me a while to figure it out - I'd been coming up to an ambush point with my good character. The Enclave and Talon Company had both spawned to ambush me and had obviously started fighting, wiping each other out before I even got there. There was a looot of loot, though!

Most of the other cool surprising things have been me turning up in the middle of scripted battles that punctuate the Capitol Wasteland. Damn I love Fallout 3...

EDIT - Ooooh! Another good one! A woman ran up to me, yelled "I HAVE A LIVE GRENADE IN MY POCKET!", ran off and exploded.
