As far as intros go, it's repetitive but Bioshock's unbeatable. I played it for approximately five minutes after the opening sequence, there was no way in hell I was going to be able to identify with someone who injected comically massive needles into themselves. But the intro was utterly fantastic.

What was so special about Bioshock? How about the MGS games or some of the Ace Combat games. Of course it's all personal preference but i really didn't see the big deal about Bioshock. Apart from when you're swimming up to those stairs outside the entrance to Rapture and from afar it looks like some psycho standing there but it's just a shadow. That was cool.

Metal Gear Solid 2 and Onimusha 3 had awesome openings. Of course by MGS2 I mean the tanker opening not the big shell.

As for my personal choice, the Star Ocean2 remake for the PSP had an amazing intro (or rather, intros)
The Final Fantasy XII intro was also amazing to me.
Hard to say one best opening...there are several that do a fantastic job of making me want to play the game.
Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 for NES do a fantastic job mostly due to the music
Tales of Symphonia had me watching the intro nearly every time I booted up the game after my first play through when I could appreciate each sequence all the more.

Onimusha 3. This oppenig is epic. And the funny part is that the 1rst time you see it no one was especting Jean Reno as a character in this game.
