My friend would like to know. He is a big Russell Crowe fan, and thinks the movie will be one of the best(or at least pretty good).

My personal prediction is that it looks like(and may very well be) a medieval version of Gladiator(which may have been a great film. I've only seen parts of it).

Now, Escapists, he wants to know what your predictions are.
The only thing you need to know is that it's in the hands of Ridley Scott... that alone is enough to warrant seeing the film for.

From the Trailer it looks massively Mediocre.

Russel Crow is one of those actors who should not play established characters. Just new ones.

But thats just my opinion and i could be massively wrong.

there is only one good robin hood and that is men in tights... I guess the disney cartoon one isnt bad either but cartoons tend to have it easy

Seeing as I was recently dragged to the cinema to see Clash of the Titans I will probably go and see this. I mean it can't be WORSE than Clash can it?

I mean I like Ridley, I like Crowe, but still not entirely sold on this, the very first thing I thought when I saw the trailer was Gladiator, which was a great film, but that was literally all I could picture throught the whole trailer. At worst it will be a mediocre Gladiator rehash, at best it will entertain for a couple of hours.

the BBC in britian had a TV series about Robin Hood, and it was pretty crappy compared to most good series out there these days. I'm hoping Russell can give me a good look on Robin Hood, to take away this crappy one I have in my mind right now

There was talk a few years back of a Robin Hood film in which Hood was portrayed as the villain. I thought it was this one, and that would have been interesting. From the trailers, however, it would seem that I'm mistaken.

I'm guessing it'll be a lot like the King Arthur that came out a few years back. Pretty good, but faded into obscurity rather quickly.

Kevin Costner owned this role. Crowe is simply too mucho for me to watch him play the Prince Of Thieves.

Wow, I can't believe anyone's brought up The Adventures of Robin Hood with Errol Flynn yet. That movie is still considered the golden standard of Robin Hood adaptations and it was made in 30s back when Technicolor was new... Or is that just too old?

Sounds interesting I'm sure it will be good but someone needs to tell Russel Crowe he has been playing the trailer to Gladiator over his new movie probably an editing mistake no big deal.

The only acceptable film adaptation of the legend of Robin Hood is the one starring Errol Flynn.

Costner sucked, Disney always sucks and Mel Brooks isn't funny.

I don't see it as being all that great. The trailer definitely didn't sell me on it.
Yeah same here...and Kate Blanchett is kinda fugly looking...not exactly how you'd want maid marrion to look..

EDIT: Does anyone actually think she's attractive?

well know my roommate said,
"ugh, it just looks like Medieval version of Gladiator..."

and my response is still
"...that's a BAD thing??"

I don't know much about it, but Ridley Scott doesn't let me down very often, and Russel Crowe is meant for these types of characters.
It's a movie that I'll reserve final judgment for when I see it

If it comes out the way it looks, it will most likely butcher the classic Robin Hood in every way. Damnit, stop modernizing all the good classics! Some of them don't need LoTR remodeling, you know!

Ridley Scott still owns my movie going soul for now, however.

I honestly don't know, robin hood has been made so many times that it is getting boring.

Seriously... people need to have faith in this. The guy knows how to tell a damn story. I would go see a movie about a Vacuum Salesman if he directed it. Alien, Blade Runner, G.I. Jane, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Matchstick Men? This guy is one of the only directors currently relevant who can take a story like Robin Hood and make it relevant in today's film world. Have a little faith and optimism people.

Ridley Scott = win.
Pretty much this. I choose to believe that Ridley Scott can and will make good movies. Even though this is basically free ammo for people to use against me, in my opinion Mr. Scott hasn't made a bad movie yet.
