My preferred one is Wrench Monkey Style. To fight in Wrench Monkey style, you do following things:

1) Take a wrench.
2) Beat people with it.

Then there's Runaroundandblowshitup-fu,but it's kind of hard to pull off, what with the gun control and all that.

I couldn?t find a thread like this...Amazingly...

Now if you can't pull of this style or want to learn how to fight like this that?s welcome too but if you can fight like it feel free to tell us so we can shower you with praise, I have always wanted to learn CQC which I now know is an amazing fighting style

This just simply amazed me and I am right now sending messages out to a trainer who is willing to teach me I wanted to know if people out there prefer a certain fighting style as in waving hands fu or an actual fighting style like basic karate (Which I studied but was never any good at and never really liked the fighting style enough to put effort into)
I don't want to be the ass that breaks it to you, but the techniques you see in the video only work with people that don't know what they're doing. Unlike what the video disclaimer says, the techniques are neither power nor size neutral. That's just bull, and the Army only makes use of that when dealing with people that, again, don't really know what they are doing.

There is one guy you may want to look up, his name is Tim F Kennedy, he is a mixed martial artist who fights under the Strikeforce banner; he's also a Green Beret. What he uses is called Army Combatibes, which is basically what they show to the U.S army corps, he completed whatever he needed to, and is now a Sniper and member of the Special Forces, so yay for him; but the fact of the matter, is that you never see him trying any of that fancy stuff shown in the video with people that do have an idea of what they're doing. You'd have to be a fighting god to do that.

Instead of going crazy over it, just go somewhere and learn MMA from a reputable gym, or join the Army.

My preferred style of fighting is the one I crafted for myself for the sword. Apparently, it's oddly effective, so in spite of having no formal training, I'm a damn decent swordsman.

Should I lose the sword, I'll go with the hand-to-hand style that I... taught myself....

Don't judge me. I might be a decent fighter. Maybe. I just haven't been able to test my hand-to-hand style.

I never was a hand to hand kind of guy. If anything, I'm a weapon specialist. Currently I fence Foil and am hoping to start Archery once I start Uni. I'd also like to try Muay Thai (I was never good with fists but using Elbows and Knees... :D)

I follow my own school of martial arts: The underhanded fist of the cheating drunken turkey
If not I try to scare my foe away, psychological violence can sometimes be more effective then physical violence.

I've been doing judo since I was 5, and I'm pretty good at it. This style of fighting is very similar to the kata that I practise, and it's insane:

I don't fight and not trained, but I'd say my favorite art would be Wuxia or Tai Chi. The movements just are so fluid, its amazing the human body can be trained to move in those ways.

In a fictional world, gun katas from Equilibrium.

Cheapshot-fu, the art of attacking the eyes, throat, groin and knees with unsterile pointy objects, kicking them while they're down, then running away like a terrified gazelle.

Properly would be Fencing. I wanna learn so bad. Starting soon

I heard a brilliant story where some muggers attack an old man with a stick. Turns out the old man was a retired Fencing World Champion, and the stick was a concealed sword (like in films) given as a retirement joke/prize. Needless to say, the muggers were interred into emergency care, on critical status
I want to try out fencing aswell but i'm not sure if there is any classes near me:p

I tryed Tae-Kwon-Do out for a few years but I quit as it got boring. I've never had to fight anyone, If someone trys to start a fight I just don't talk and stare at them till they go away, that usually works. Although that CQC looks effective:)

if you want to, go for it. I am actually one of those people who prefer weapon styles over hand-to-hand. That's why I take European Fencing and Kenjitsu (Samurai sword). I do have some experience in the hand-to-hand: I took Kook Sul Wan, Tai Chi, and Ishin-ryu Karate. I'm taking Hapkido soon. That being said, there's nothing really I prefer as far as a style except I like working with weapons more. that's about it.

I have done some training in Eskrima, Kendo and Judo along with some boxing (I also have some experience using firearms if that counts).

In an actual fight, however, I usually resort to the age old technique of 'punch the other bastard really hard'.

I train Shotokan, coupled with a few, basic Judo throws and some submissions. I know the basics of Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu stances for ground fighting, as well as some transitions, but I wouldn't rely on it at all as I haven't had any proper training in that.
I'd like to start training Judo seriously as well, which I might do later on.

So, yeah, I prefer striking, resorting to throws if my opponent comes too close. I've never been in a serious fight, and really the best thing you can do is being aware of your surroundings and avoid fighting unless it is absolutely needed.

well i have a fair amount of experience with a variety of weapons (basically everything from stick to assualt rifle) i prefer weighty mid length bladed weapons or un-armed. as for a formal style I've seen some basics of karate, boxing, judo and kendo but it never sat well with me so i just make it up as i go. I've been told that I have more in common with the old Vikingr berserkers when i get going..... not that anyone can really tell
