Your prefered alcoholic beverage.

Ohai there escapist, this is primarily for the drinkers amongst you, but if you do not partake then feel free to add your favourite non-alcoholic drink too

So yeah, what's your fave and least fave alcoholic drink/ coctail, and why? I'm interested to see what sort of answers I get, seeing as this is a fairly multi-national site I'm sure there'll be a good range of answers seeing as how such preferances differ across the world

For me, my favourite drink has to be Guinness. It's like a meal in a glass, but a freezing, smooth, tasty meal. It's gotta be from a tap though, the bottled stuff is like ass water.

Failing that, I'd choose one of the local ales from my local pub, the Three Tunns that are brewed on site. Delicious.

Least favourite has gotta be Vodka and red bull. It's so fucking sickly sweet, it smells awful and it makes me puke. A truly foul concoction.

i love guinness. it actually got me out of an awkward situation too. i got to a theatre school, located in a gay neighborhood of pittsburgh. this means there are a lot of gay bars. this isnt a bad thing, it just means that as a guy, im much more likely to be hit on than i am when i go to straight bars. anyway, i ordered a guinness and soon after this guy started hitting on me, trying to get me to leave with him and he didnt seem to find "im not gay, sorry" to be a valid excuse. when my drink finally arrived he seemed repulsed by the idea that i drink guinness and walked away. i dont know what it was about the drink but whatever the case, guinness saved my ass (pun definitely intended)

guinness is expensive though so if i wanna get drunk for cheap, my drink of choice is pabst blue ribbon. about $10 for a 24 pack. its not great but its certainly not the worst cheap beer either. i have also had lingerman kreik. its an expensive Belgium beer that tastes more like cherry juice than beer (which is surprising since its like 7% alcohol) the bad news is that a case costs like $127

But yeah, Jim Beam Black Label and Jack Daniel's are my personal favorite spirits.
As for beer, local Cigar City Hunahpu?s Imperial Stout.

I have not had a single alcoholic beverage but I will shortly be at drinking age. What should I try as my first drink? Should I expect my first drink to suck or be amazing?

suck. horribly, unless someone gets you a really nice drink or you get the supposed "girly drinks" (what i drink), they have the same amount of alchohol as the average beer in them and actually taste really good, they are fruity-ish flavored drinks and they taste really good. not too bad on price either.

so for your first drink, get some smirnoff ice (flavored) or some mikes hard(er) lemonade, they are both delicious to me, everything else i've had i only drank because i was playing some party games, otherwise they were gross. (now this is if you just want a decent beerish kind of drink, however if you dont think thats what you'll prefer, go crazy!)

I'm an underage non-drinker, so I'll go with my non-alcoholic beverage of choice: Chocolate frappe with chocolate cookie bits and chocolate ice-cream and whipped cream.

Duvel, LaChouffe, Cantillon, various other beers.

I'm a hard liquor man, my favorite (thus far) being Glenlivet Scotch. Expensive, but worth it. On the beer front, Samuel Adams brews some nice stuff.

Worst stuff I've ever had was neon green and served in a shot glass. I have no idea what it was called, but it was disgusting, no bite at all. I like my drink to remind me that I'm deliberately putting a poison into my system.

i swear, these types of threads really trigger my suppressed paranoia. i list my favorite alcoholic drink* then someone will check my birthday and bust my ass**. but for the record, it's mike's hard lemonade***.

I don't drink actually, but I've had a couple bottles of beer here and there at family parties and such, and this was just awesome.
