I think gore is pretty cheap, so things like Dead Space didn't realy freak me out at all. The original Resident Evil and Silent Hill are pretty awesome because they know how to create tension effectively, rather than 'oh noes lots of blood!!'.

I had trouble playing through half-life because of the bloody hagworms. those little maggot type things that live in water. They freaked the HELL out of me. Got to the point were I used all my grenades on each water section just in case there were some in the water. Yes I'm a wimp.

Surprise attacks from Ghouls in the underground areas of Fallout 3 had a tendency to make me jump. Bioshock was pretty freaky too... I had weird dreams after playing that before bed. I?m also not really appreciating trying to make Killer Croc chase after me in Arkham Asylum right now.

Fallout 3, the Mirelurk Kings, I dont know what it is about them, but they scare the shit out of me, worst experience with them was probably during the Oasis mission, heading through the cave after killing/saving Harold and you come to a ledge overlooking a pond, normally this is fine, you can snipe the mirelurks from there and they cant get you, but then the game gltches and next thing I know there a fucking King right next to me, i fucking freaked out and unloaded god knows how many assault rifle clips into that bastard, I hate when that games glitches out like that. Also, that horrible feeling you get when you spot a Deathclaw in the dictance, while another makes its was around and attack you from behing. Or when you get a red marker on your radar, but you cant see anything and VATS doesnt bring anything up either.

Oh and condemed 2 in general, I couldnt even finish it.

Finally, Pyramid head, behind that fucking gate in SH2, just watching you, and then when you come back out of the hotel room, hes fucking gone, I hate that game so much

Any encounter with a Snork, Bloodsucker or Buerer in any S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game, sometimes packs of blind dogs when it's pitch black at night.

I'd say Silent Hill 2.

The part where you have to go inside the apartment that's right near P-Head. He's just sitting there, staring at you, not moving a muscle. Your radio is going nuts. And you know you just have to go through that door or else you can't continue the game. Sure there were bars, but how much can those protect you from a two tone knife?

My eyes exploded and my spine jerked through my skull when I was speeding through a corridor in FEAR, when suddenly Alma speedily crawls toward me from the darkness ahead of me. HOLY-OMGWTFBBQARAaWRAAWrGGHAHHHH ensued. A friend of mine broke his keyboard and turned off his computer when that happened.

Also, the above sequence from Call of Cthulhu is pretty fucking scary.

The only time a video game made me poo a little was in Metroid Prime 3. Open a door and a husk of a pirate screeches at you and dissolves. ... that came outta nowhere!
What about U3 from the same game? You know, "It?" That thing was freakin' scary the first time I saw it.
Also, Salazar's boss form was pretty creepy.

I don't play many scary games, so I'd have to say Halo: Combat Evolved. Why? That first flood level scared the SHIT outta me.

The regenerator in Dead Space - not because Dead Space is the scariest game, that award goes to system shock. It's just that I'm such a wimp that Dead Space is the only 'scary game' I've ever got to the actually -scary- bits on without quitting and uninstalling the game.

Silent Hill 2 Hospital Basement, as you run to the elevator. You know what happens...

Damn you for linking a 4 Player Podcast video! I'm going to be up all night watching videos from them now... Watching them play scary games is always funny though.

When I first went up against crimson heads in resident evil I kept shooting them and they just wouldn't die.

The Dunwich Building in Fallout 3.

First time I went there freaked me the hell out for a few days.
Man the first time I went through there I didn't know there was a flashlight in fallout 3.
It made the all ready standing horribly terrifying experience 10 times worse.
