My dentist always compliments me on my teeth - better than having them pull out the guilt trip about eating lollies. I was lucky in that I never needed braces, so while my teeth might be a little wonky they don't develop caries which is fantastic news. I usually brush twice a day, don't care about flossing. They stay alright without it so who cares?

I can quite honestly say that I have great teeth. Wasn't easy though, I had braces for two year and I've had a total of eight teeth removed. I brush twice a day and my teefs are loverly.

Sounds like me - except I only had 6 teeth removed and my braces were on for almost three years. Oh, to be 12 again... =)

then use listerine

I mean think about it, they're bones that grow through our skin in spikes and are hidden by a little slit in our face. It's like something out of a monster movie.

Dammit, now wish I hadn't read that... I hate being too aware of something...

I'm pretty lucky to have healthy teeth, I've only had one tiny cavity and that's it. I brush twice a day. I also have the tendency to chew a lot of gum, but I'm not sure how healthy it is for the teeth...

My teeth are by no means great but I don't think they are in any danger of melting or corroding before my very eyes (with the use of a mirror to actually see into my mouth).

I take my time brushing them while under the shower, taking about 10 minutes or so to thoroughly brush each cavity. Only once a day though, and I don't floss. My teeth could be a bit whiter, but they are in good shape I suppose.

Teeth are weird... why did they evolve the way they did, so that without maintenance they decay and fall out? It's not like your fingernails fall out if you don't clean them every day... they just seem like such an evolutionary liability to me.

Wouldn't it be sweet if we were like sharks, and we just constantly grew new teeth?

I think that the diet we have now is what causing our teeth to decay. In the early days, we didn't consume so much sugar and other bad stuff for our teeth, and hence they maintained in a reasonable condition. That or we maintained our teeth in a different way then today, chewing on something to keep them in shape, a bit like dogs do with branches and bones and the like.

Though it would be wicked if we could have shark teeth! Steven Tyler would look surprisingly like a great white if he showed his teeth .

I brush once a day, and have an extra tooth behind both canines. They're pretty awesome, the dentist said I can keep'em and use them. Had a root canal, and three cavities.

Its also the reason I can't get rid of my video as I have all the 'Trap Door' on tape as well as Henry's Cat, Button Moon, Danger Mouse and Inspecter Gadget.

EDIT: What can I say... I went through a phase of Magic Mushrooms and those vids sure amused me and my friends ahh the good ol days of Uni!

My parents refer to my teeth as the 10,000 dollar mouth because I've had dental problems

My front teeth and the ones next to them had second teeth growing behind them that were fused to the ones in front, in order to get braces (which I desperately needed as my teeth looked almost like swung inward saloon doors) they had to file these teeth down (apparently this is pretty rare as my dentist put me in some dental magazine and took like a million pictures of my teeth >_>.) In the process they hit a root which caused an abscess which was one of the most painful things ever to happen to me.

This called for an emergency root canal. Upon opening my mouth up they discovered I suffered from a phenomenon known as "onion roots" (on my front teeth only) meaning each tooth had a series of roots rather than just one. Hoping to save my teeth they removed only one layer of roots (both sides, since afraid of causing another abscess.) I had an adverse reaction to the Novocaine and half my face swelled up.

So five years of braces later (from aged 10 to fifteen) one of my front teeth turns gray. So much for saving the teeth. Now its five root canals later (on each tooth, getting rid of all the roots, although they did it all in two visits) and I have porcelain front teeth (funny story about them, though. The day I got mine another shipment of false teeth was hijacked. That's right, some guy stole hundreds of front teeth.)

Anyway, that's the story. I have had one other root canal as I split a tooth down the middle from chewing on a pen cap.
