This is for the forum only, because if it wasn't, I suspect many people would come and say "Oh, nice site design","Yahtzee's really funny" etc. Instead, this is for the very first thought you had when you opened an Escapist thread. Hopefully you can remember

I don't remember what thread I opened for the very first time, but first thing that I thought was "People seem so polite and educated/cultured. Holy crap some of their responses are twice the size of one of my essays... How can you even think that much?!"

So yeah, post some of your first thoughts of the Escapist Forum!

Well this was my first post (well I think I might have had a few more before it, but they weren't saved)

No, No, No, No Bioware! When you have an Eldritch lovecraftian Character you DO NOT explain what they are or where they came from. You merely dance around it or give cryptic or unreliable hints as to their nature.

To gaze upon the visage of Cthulhu is to court madness. If you gaze upon Cthulhu's tentacley awesomeness and understand it then Cthulhu's not that scary a character. The Reapers were terrifying because they were unknown (perhaps unknowable). If we learn too much about them or their motivations then they become normal, relatable, and mundane.

I WANT THE CTHULHU-BORG TO REMAIN THE CTHULHU-BORG! I don't want them to just be those rouge octopus A.I.

...Rant done. I guess I shouldn't care very much any more since Bioware already screwed the pooch on the Reapers (among other things) with the ending, E.C. or not, but it's easier to head-canon one screw up than it is two.

EDIT: On an unrelated note, I'm almost out of Space on my Xbox and can't handle many more DLC's... so... uhh... Boo

So it probably had to do with my still festering hatred for what Bioware did with the ending.

My very first thought when looking at the forums, before posting and joining in was definitely something along these lines:

"Wow, the rule against low content posts and fact that most people generally type with proper spelling/grammar is freaking amazing. I've never before seen such a thing on the Internet. This is way better than the Youtube comments section. People can have actual discussions! *mind blown*"

I can remember it very vividly because the general standard of the posts in these forums is still something that impresses me.

I second this. I've seen forums and communities before, and in the words of the great Sir Hammerlock from Borderlands 2: "I feel like my brain cells are committing suicide one by one".

Passive aggressive insults, passive aggressive insults everywhere. I lurked for maybe a year before I decided to make an account and start posting. I enjoy it for the most part but some users can be quite irritating.

Overall I love this website. Website I visit the most I think.

As it turns out, I was blind to the fact that not everyone lives the same lives just because they share the same hobbies.

I noticed how civil the forums hear are. Before this I had used gamefaqs and threads on there usaully devolve into a few people throwing insults at each other for 8 pages.

The strict moderation and good attitude is why I like these forums.

FOX speaks out about new violent highly sexualized homoerotic video game called Mass Effect 3.
