I like to see if people have progressed beyond wielding a club and hitting each other. But honestly it's a question I like to ask, generalizations and all.

Americans: The only idiots who would willingly live on an area called "Tornado Alley".

Pretty much sums it up.
Not to mention, in houses made of wood.
Straw and sticks didn't work when the Wolf came to town...

Foreign policy does seem to have a guns-all-blazing attitude, as does the military.
Most Americans I've met have turned out to be decent folk, but it's a shame about a few folks (primarily from the South) who end up coming off as bible-bashing, surprisingly militant Christians.

With guns, the logic seems to go:
-The constitution says we can have guns;
-So lets get a gun, because the constitution says, we have a right to;
-If we don't get a gun, we're not exercising our rights;
-Not exercising all the rights you have is un-American, and one step away from godless communism, etc.

Oh, and very few over the pond seem to understand cheese. It's made from milk and rennet, not polymers!

Americans: The only idiots who would willingly try to rebuild and reinhabit New Orleans

Pretty much sums it up.
fix'd
So your saying you wouldn't try to repair a major port and cultural center?
I'm saying its a stupid idea to try to repair a major port and cultural center that will inevitably be destroyed and cause major problems for the government and people who live there again...
And what makes its future destruction inevitable? Also, what would happen if no one ever rebuilt anything destroyed by a disaster(natural or otherwise)? Do I need to list all the major cities that wouldn't exist today if people acted that way?
1. THEY LIVE IN BELOW SEA LEVLE
2. THEY ARE SURROUNDED BY WATER
3. THAT PLACE IS PRONE TO FLOODING/HURRICANES (that involve... water!!!)
4. THEY ARE A BOWL IN A SEA OF SOUP THAT IS VIOLENTLY MOVING.
A 5 year-old could put that puzzle together. People rebuilt cities destroyed by natural disasters but they learned to make cities that could withstand it. Please post a list of those cities and that same 5 year-old could tell why those were rebuilt and why New Orleans shouldn't.
1. Learn how to spell level. If your going to needlessly insult my intelligence, at least have the decency to check your spelling.
2. Plenty of other cities (and countries) are surrounded by water. Large portions of Denmark are completely below sea level, and they seem to be doing just fine.
3. Katrina was the first hurricane to do that level of damage in a LONG time. It didn't just take out New Orleans, it took out a large part of the gulf (which is also PRONE TO FLOODING/HURRICANES as you put it. Perhaps we shouldn't rebuild half of the Gulf Coast and Florida as well?).
4. Its not as if the entire place was gone either, the French Quarter (the oldest part of the city) held up pretty damn well.
5.New Orleans is a MAJOR PORT. Those don't grow on trees.

I doubt we will have our own planet. China or India seem to have that taken care of quite nicely! And yes...it's not all good and jolly. But everything must come to an end...

Btw....Im not of those "Oh yeah America is fucking awesome, fuck all you other ding dongs. My truck will run you over and my guns will kill you!!"
I am. And anyone who says otherwise should get back on their trains or blimps and go back to the french part of china or wherever the hell part of austria you all live in. Throw another shrimp on tha ol' barbie, eh mates?

It kind of hurt my head to write that.

The "americans are ignorant" stereotype is getting tiresome. Its cute, i think all you adorable canucks and euros need to get off it though. Theres 300 million of us. Of course our nitwits outnumber your nitwits.

If america is such a stupid backwater, why, pray tell, has English become the international language of Science, and why do the best and the brightest from around the world flock to America's educational institutions for postgraduate education?

A country filled for the most part by proud, nice people with a large enough part of the population being idiots to merit scorn from other countries. In terms of laws and policies it can be very backwards. Examples the laws concerning gun control, capital punishment and a health care system that is inferior to most other wealthy industrialized nations. Oh and a tendency to spend way! WAY! too much on military funding.

Hey hey, atomically similar cheese is still cheese there mister. But yeah there are things about America that we just can't control, simply because the world doesn't accept the understanding of Natural Selection. You know, one man's genocide is another man's Euthanasia. I believe the "Right to bare arms" is an acceptable right, everyone should have the right to some sort of weapon. But you know, back when that right was thought out, we weren't exactly fighting battles with automatic, or semi-automatic weapons for the record.

Of course I believe America would be better off just with armed citizens who aren't such, well bluntly religious nuts. I mean let's be honest, crusades are so last millennium. I also believe firmly that every requirement before acquiring a gun license should be some sort of IQ or standardized test, just so we can confirm intelligent people are the people carrying guns. Of course, that doesn't exactly pick out the insane people, but you can't win them all.

As for the whole godless communism thing, that doesn't sound so bad from my point of view, but hey I am the one with the 5'x3' USSR flag hanging on his wall, so shoot me.

And you have all the unnecessary gang wars over something they thought they saw in a mirror or whatever the hell possesses them to look retarded. and finally you have the rich piles of crap that give absolutely nothing to the poor and sit around by an effing fire place drinking wine that the butler pissed in and they stare at a family portrait all damn night and name their children crappy names like "Chadsworth" and "Barnelbee". so here's to you america [=

We are the most recognizable, hence we will be the most targets for stereotypes and insults. It happens to the biggest around. Telling people to leave isn't quite the answer..cause they just won't leave.

And the English thing is a funny thing. Before we even existed, there was this island that spoke a language, and it was called English. This country spread their influence to many parts of the globe during the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. With that global expansion came their language known as English. With such an influence from those people and with the spread of such culture and knowledge, making it a standardized language makes sense. So it was pretty popular before we were even a speck on the world stage.....

I agree people love to hate. It has happened since we have existed. I am even convinced trying to make it better may not be the option. but someone has to hope.

my main problem with america is that the majority of americas seem to be oblivious to the fact that there are other countries in the world with equal rights to them

At the same time, many of the other world powers were spreading their languages around. However, french and german were the languages that a scientist should know on up through to the 20th century, simply because of the power of the journals based in those nations that published scientific articles.

English didn't really get established as a major international language of science until the 1960s at the earliest.

And now, even if america crumbles and china reigns supreme, english will remain the language of the sciences-- you can go to any major international conference and the majority of the talks will be in english, though not necessarily good english.

And this organic trend is due solely to the good ol' U. S. of A.

And my problem with the british is that the majority of brits seem to have watched a few episodes of Jerry Springer and MTV and extrapolated that to the whole country.
