"You do remember the part with the giant acid spewing quicksand beast right? I'm pretty sure that will be more than enough distraction now come on. You still have work to do, and I intend to force you to do it. Your aunt left you a coded note before the military killed her. Whatever that note was, it was important enough that she gave her life for it, so SUCK IT UP! If not for me or yourself than for her, your sister, and your father. If family is so important to you, than FUCKING PROVE IT! Deal with your problems on your own time, not theirs!" Jack said before yanking the blankets off of him.

"GUARDS!" Alan yelled, getting fed up and grabbing the blankets back from Jack. He winced in pain from doing it, clutching his ribs. "IMPOSTER!" he continued, causing some of the people walking by to take notice.

"Bye Jack. Oh, and for your information I'd rather deal with the giant sand monster than even spend another minute with you," he said as a few soldiers came over and asked Jack to leave as he was bothering the patient.

Jack flashed the badge and gave them the same orders and they immediately left after he chewed them out for disobeying orders and dereliction of duty. They brought up that the patient had called him an impostor, and he immediately chewed them out again for taking the word of a delirious prisoner over that of a superior officer. He outranked both of them and they immediately apologized and went topside to help their comrade.

"That isn't going to work Alan. Now. Put. The. Fucking. IV. In. Your. Fucking. Arm. I don't care for this pissy little attitude you keep giving me anymore. Your aunt left something for you to finish, and so either finish it or live long enough to decode it and let me find someone who will. Then you can lament the fate you have been given all you want. You can cry, whine, piss, and moan while your family dies for all I care. For now though, you owe everyone in the world, because they all get to deal with the bullshit your family created for them.

So for once in your life, give a shit about someone other than yourself. Be a man for once rather than a whiny child. After that I don't fucking care what you do."

"No. I plan on continuing the research, but like hell I'm doing it with any help from you," Alan replied back. He took the IV bag and bit into it, throwing the contents at Jack. "God, I'd rather help these bastards than have anything to do with you. Now go! Maybe you should think of helping these people here instead of talking to me about 'family' and 'friends' and 'duty' and all that bullshit. Don't talk about what you don't know!"

"I don't fucking give a shit what you know you whiny little *****!" Jack said as he backhanded him.

"If you know so fucking much than DO something! Stop bragging about it like every little piss ant while you hide in a corner so the big bad monsters won't get you! I may or may not know as much as you, but I'm sure as fuck a better human being, scientist, and hell probably would be a better Bixler than you ever could! Your father gave his life to protect his people, your aunt died to continue her research and protect those she cared about, and I'm pretty fucking sure your sister is doing something incredibly stupid to try and save your ass! You sit there and talk about how I don't know, while you hide and play your little games with all of us like we are trash! Man up! If you're a Bixler then FUCKING ACT LIKE ONE! At least I try to protect those close to me, you would probably sit there and let them die. Never once did you come up with one fucking plan for all your knowledge, never once did you save any life but your own, and never once have you done anything that makes me think of you as anything more than a sniveling rodent." Jack was screaming at him by the end of his speech.

Alan threw his hands in air and threw a verbal tirade on Jack. When he was done he threw his covers at Jack and climbed over the railing of his bed and started to drag himself away from Jack. He continued to yell at Jack as he dragged himself away, tears streaming from his eyes as he started to break down from the pain. Everybody stopped and stared, with Dr. Westin coming over with a shocked expression.

"What is going on here? Why are you out of bed dearie? You can't even walk! And why does this man have your blankets?" she asked, extremely confused about the situation. Alan just continued yelling and dragging himself away, trying to explain but not being understandable.

"I have his covers because he threw them at me. He is crawling away because I will not leave him be. That monster attacking the soldiers up there is partially of his doing, and I am under orders to move him to a safe area so he can fix this. Now sedate him and put the IV in his arm." The woman did as ordered with shock evident on her face from the information she had just learned. Jack grabbed another syringe of sedative for later before continuing.

Jack placed him on the bed wheeling the IV next to him and got him out of the building. He made it to the cruiser while the beast attacked the soldiers, paying no mind to them. He handcuffed Alan's hands and feet together and placed him face down on the seat of the cruiser, placing the bag on the clothes hangar hook on top of the door. He climbed into the driver's seat and pulled out before starting to head back into the city. There were no guards at the gate due to the monster in the background, and Jack was glad for it. He would get him to decode the letter and then drop him off back at the school for the others to find him.

Adries and Albert were watching the ongoing fight with the monster, before they noticed the car driving away.
"What the fuck is that?" Adries asked.
"Maybe they went to get something? Reinforcement?" Albert said.
"Maybe they're just leaving?"
"Cowards," Albert muttered.

Alan muttered something that sounded like a few curse words at Jack, falling asleep as they drove along.

"Yes, yes, fuck me and all that. Once you decode the fucking note you will never see me again, so you can look forward to that." Jack said as he drove along.

The fight with the monster was going badly. Kaufman was currently yelling at some of his men who were thinking of deserting. He ordered the civilians to be taken away to a safer area as his men dealt with the monster.

"What the hell is that thing? Is that, like smoke?" Adries asked.
"It seems to be. Make sense as to why we can't really see much then," Albert replied.

Christie covered her mouth giving orders to everyone inside the canteen to stay put and wait for others to move to a safer area. She moved her Carbine onto her shoulder and left through the back of the building. She searched through the crowds of personnel for any idea of a plan. Catching brief sight of what was attacking atop a building
This is...what Foxtrot was talking about.
She ran to the side taking cover in the hysteria outside while she considered what she would do.

She'd moved away from the orientation group and made it down another corridor into the sleeping quarters, Lisa had waited a while to ensure that she wasn't noticed. The area was silent, she found lunches abandoned in the hallway as people seemed to have left in a hurry. A tremor shook the area making her almost trip.
"What the..." Lisa muttered while she took another few steps forward, unsure whether she should head back.

"I know that men, but how do we defeat it?" Kaufman asked the room full of people debating what to do.
"A vacuum!"
"Jenkins get the fuck out of here," Kaufman ordered before telling everyone, "I want nobody to be inside any buildings because that is how St. Justine's was lost! Everyone soldier needs to be out on the grounds helping to deal with the infected. Civilians go to the small town nearby. I still want a patrol to make sure no zombies get inside. Like we need another problem on top of this."

Jacobs was about to run in and help fight the monster, but was told to stay on patrol. He followed orders, though the sheer amount of smoke everywhere was making it hard to see. He did, however notice a police cruiser go on by. 'Huh, I guess they had different orders,' he thought.

Lisa pulled out her sawed-off as she started to get nervous. She pulled out the tracker touching the screen momentarily to see if she was heading in the right direction. Her eyes widened as she saw the light blue dot that symbolized Alan quickly leaving the compound.
What the hell is going on!? She thought between all the curses in her head.
She spent a few moments watching the screen, worry starting to dominate her emotions beside confusion and anxiousness. She put it away, deciding it as best to find Ivan and tell Adries and Albert.
She starting to jog down the hall trying to find the door to open onto the main area of the compound. She met the half-open doors with a dead soldier waiting near the door as he had tried to make a dash to get inside, his face distorted from what looked like asphyxiation. From looking out of the window, Lisa saw thick smoke. Stepping over the body, trying to remain respectful while covering her face, she stepped into frantic territory.

She followed the instructions, she guided a group of frightened civilians in the direction of the garage area to board the armored Bison carriers that were now waiting near the borders. Christie kept an arm covering her nose and mouth, so she directed with her gun. She decided to make do with this for the time being, saving a few before going to fight against whatever that thing was.

"These ideas do not make any sense men! The vacuum idea made more than this stuff!!" Kaufman yelled at two men who were trying to figure out ways to deal with the monster. He was starting to yell at a few other men when his secretary told him he had a call.
"Hello?"
"Er, hello sir!" Jacobs said from his radio, "An idea just came to mind sir! Smoke has to come from fire right? Or something of the sort...and since we can't see the source that means it is internal right? So, maybe we should find a way to stop the fire source inside...oh! What if uses the humans it collects to fuel the fire inside?"
"Jacobs, you are the only one so far with an idea. We'll work on that. Stay in your position though and make sure no zombies come in."
"Roger sir! Over and out."

Christie helped the last few onto the vehicle before running off back into the smoke. She wanted to know what was happening. There was no way she'd waste ammo on this thing only to get flat-out killed. She ran to the office that Jacobs had showed her earlier. She walked past the secretary. She didn't care for them particularly. She stood outside the office though, courteous enough to wait, giving a salute, while two other men looked over a blueprint of the facility.
"Sir, permission to enter?"

She'd ran from the area covered in soldiers. Struggling away when some tried to guide her, but getting grabbed by the arms and guided anyhow.
Lisa murmured about needing to find someone, but they said nothing. One got a call on their radio and stopped momentarily. She threw a kick at the other man's legs and ran off behind a building.
I know that wasn't smart, but I can't leave yet. I need to find out what happened to the orientation group. Plus I can't leave with the civilians.
She'd ran for a while, it was official they had lost her. She stopped at the back of another building, outside the border. She gasped for breath through her makeshift cover through the sweater, attempting to quiet herself when she saw someone doing patrol. Only to let out a bout of coughs.

Jacobs jumped when he heard someone coughing behind him. He immediately rose his M16 before noticing Lisa and calming down. He jogged over. "Hello civilian. I am Private Jacobs. This area is not safe and I will have to escort you to...wherever they are taking civilians. I know it's over to the south, but I can't remember the exact position...Maybe the trucks haven't moved yet," he said, quietly contemplating exactly the next course of action.

"Enter, enter!" Kaufman said, trying to organize his men. "Hold on Bailey. What do you mean you don't know where the cryo-bullets are? Find them dammit! And you, get back to finding the extinguishers and getting the ice!" he barked as two men ran out to go and do their jobs.
He turned to Christie, "Yes Lieutenant Colonel?"

Christie lowered the salute but still standing straight as she moved for the other two soldiers to move out.
"Reporting I've led ten groups of civilians to the Bisons and they're on their way out, I told two or three other soldiers to search for the final few before returning to offense, if you don't mind that plan of action, sir? I'm also here to enquire on what plan of action is on mind, because i've seen these things before and they couldn't care less about bullets on their own. What are my orders?"

Still choking, she shook her head.
"N-no. I can't leave." She mumbled loud enough for him to hear. Lisa turned to the younger looking man, about to explain herself a little more but cut off my some final coughs.

"Thank you Bailey. As of now the plan is to, how did the Private put it? To extinguish the internal flame that is allowing to the create the smoke. So, we're getting the cryo-bullets we have to use against it. We're also going to try to quickly freeze some of the fallen soldiers bodies, since it absorbs them to use as fuel. If that doesn't work then we'll come up with a new plan. As of now I would say your orders would be to help get some of the bullets or extinguishers and take them to the clinic where the freezing and main offense will take place," Kaufman said.

"Oh, no. You have to! Crap, you've already breathed in a lot of the smoke," Jacobs said worriedly, bringing out a handkerchief and wetting it. He handed it to Lisa, "I should take you to the clinic where you can be checked. If not you might just die of asphyxiation!"

She gave another salute, giving a "Yes sir" before leaving quickly to follow the orders. She went into the building next door, taking two fire extinguishers from the corridors and carrying them off.
This should work.

Lisa took the handkerchief and put it to her face. She remembered the body she'd seen on the way out of the living quarters and started to worry. She sided with him so that he could lead her to the clinic. There would be less smoke in there anyway.
"O-okay. I'm tired too...It's not just the smoke..." She explained, choosing to ignore the fact that she didn't help prevent the coughing by trying to avoid him.

"Alright then. Please follow me and be careful, who knows if any infected got by before I went on patrol," Jacobs told her as he led her towards the clinic. The smoke was not as thick as it was over there, the monster having not gone over in that area yet. 'Perfect place to mobilize,' Jacobs thought as he killed a zombie that was shuffling towards them. They made their way in, the place bustling with people trying to get things done.

"Over there! The patients are to stay over here! Can no one follow orders?" Dr. Westin asked, bringing a patient over to a table. She noticed Jacobs and Lisa and called them over.
"My goodness things are going insane now that the counter-attack is being based here! Soldiers running around and the patients freaking out," she said with a sigh.
"Yes ma'am I can see that. Um, this civilian here seems to have breathed in a lot of smoke," Jacobs said.
"Poor dear. Alright, have her take a seat and I'll get right to her."
