"Alright then." Jack said before turning towards the recruits.

"Now I'm going to tell you all basic firing range etiquette. The only rule you need to worry about is that if I or anyone else is out on the range, all of you keep the safeties on and the gun on the table. If I catch even one of you with the gun in your hands, much less firing, when someone is on the range, I'll tear you a new one. Now each of you take a stall and await further instructions." Jack watched as everyone took a stall at the indoor firing range.

"To your right is a target in the shape of a human, hook it up and move it to half distance. Once that is done you may pick up your weapon, but do not turn the safety off." He waited until all the targets were at half range.

"Make sure the front sight is clear, the back is blurry, and you don't have your non-aiming eye closed. Turn the safety off, aim for the center of the body of the target, and fire five rounds." Jack heard each gun discharge five times.

"Turn your safety on, put your gun down, and bring the target back." Jack walked through seeing fairly decent groupings in the center of the target. Everyone had obviously shot before, now was the hard part of breaking them from the habit of body-shooting.

"Send the target to half range again, and fire five shots into the head of the target." Jack repeated this process at different ranges multiple times, having to give minor corrections but not much else.

"Efficient. It's surprising about how many of them there are. When i was in the city I must've only seen...maybe 30 at the least. It's good to see people were surviving though." Christie nodded, looking over to the area where they were scanned for infection then following Jacobs again. "This is very similar to the procedure at St. Justines, except over there the ideals were to get them checked and get them shipped ASAP. I'm not sure what happened there. I haven't received any updates since two days ago." She muttered still looking around.

"True. Well we'll go with that...this isn't going to be easy..." Lisa thought aloud.

Jacobs looked at the ground before saying, "St. Justine's Hospital was taken out a few days ago by a horde and a mutated infected. Since then there hasn't been any words on it, no report of where the infected went or the monster. We've been very, very wary of straying into that area."

Dewey added the two siblings into the range, both relatively good after only just learning the basics. "Kids these days. They learn so quickly! It took me a few weeks before I could get a head shot and look'a them! First try! What the hell?" Dewey asked, laughing with the students.

"You weren't being fueled on revenge, fear, and sadness. You also probably had to break that good against a human but shit against a zombie tactic of body shooting. Same as most of the people here you were probably taught center mass. Easy to learn something, but hard to break someone of something already learned I would say." Jack lightly joked back.

Christie raised her eyebrow and looked away momentarily.
Damn...
"That's terrible. Albeit expected but it doesn't make things any better...more good men. More of my good men." She sighed slightly, recovering herself.
"I suppose that it's more important to keep a weary mind on whether whatever attacked them is still out there. Any idea on what kind of infected attacked?"

"Well, from the reports we had it was relatively big. Grey was another description used. IT was very ashy before it attacked too," Jacobs recalled, "I'm sorry that you've lost some men there. There were a few survivors, I'm not sure if they were any of yours but you can go see if you want."

"Hah, true. The new thing learned will be 'aim for the head no matter what'. I wouldn' have a problem with that," Dewey said with a chuckle, checking his watch. "We get food in a half-hour, just letting you know. Early dinners and all that jazz."

"We're here," Albert said, as he had Ivan stop and pull off to the side of the road. He jumped out and climbed to the top of a hill and over looked the compound. "Bigger then I expected," he said, looking through his binoculars.

"You say that now, but wait until you all go back to conventional warfare. You'll be trying to get that perfect shot, but your enemy won't have that problem and he'll be shooting back. I'll probably give them a break for now. Give them some more time to settle in and all that." Jack said waiting for a lull in the fire on the range.

"Alright boys safeties on and weapons down. You did good work today, dinner is in half an hour though, so You should all probably get ready for that." He turned back to Dewey.

"I probably won't eat anything, you know of a place I can get the news? I don't think there was a tv in my room, but I didn't really look for anything."

Christie nodded.
"Thank you. Would you mind showing me where to go? I'll get my bearings on this place soon. It's a pretty big base, that's all. If there are any of them there, I need to give my commendations." She answered seriously.

Lisa slid out of the truck, her eyes adjusting to the brightness, cupping her hand over them. Her legs had gone numb from sitting in one place for so long but she slowly followed Albert to the hill.
"Better get moving soon. Will we need the tracker?"

"Well, they'd be over at the bunks by the General's office. Last time I checked they were over there," Jacobs said, leading her over to a makeshift structure on the other side of the base. "Well, you can check inside. I'll stay here," he told her, opening up the door.

"I don't think it'd be a good idea, simply because they'll probably check you. Then they'll find this and stuff. Though, I guess you can just tell them it was to lead you here. Heh, here," Albert said, turning it off and handing it over to her, "We'll keep watch."

Dewey thought for a moment, "Well we don't really have a newspaper or anything, and the broadcasts are just instructions. We have a bill board up near the clinic that might have some news. If anything though I would just say ask around. Heh, I'd say go to Jacobs for all the latest gossip and news but you don't know who that is."

"No, I wouldn't. I was hoping maybe you would have some national or world news. Would be helpful after this is all over to not come out to a nation that seems to have passed us by. Then again, due to the quarantine, we may be dominating the news anyway. Though if you had anything with one of the news networks I would be ecstatic." Jack said

"Sorry man. We don't really have any of that. The tv stations don't really work anymore. I can't tell you about any of the info about the government or the other nations either. I can tell you that this is a global thing. Everyone has been hit with this zombie-itis. Heh," Dewey replied back.

"Damnit, I was hoping it was an isolated incident. If this is airborne than the situation just got much, much worse. Who is in charge of this base? I've seen tapes of the military doing things that are less trying to save the populace and more of wholesale slaughter. Why does this base seem to follow a different policy? You seem more inclusive than I was expecting." Jack spoke seriously.

"Oh, General Kaufman is the leader of this base," Dewey said, looking unsure of how to respond to Jack's questions, "I dunno what ya' mean about the military doing bad things. I mean, we've heard that some were causin' problems and bein' dicks basically. W dealt with a few of them too. Honestly the world's gone mad and people are actin' crazy. Sorry ya' had to see that.
"The General has strict rules that everyone has to abide. We all look up t' him and follow the rules. Hell a few hours ago some men got into big trouble for breakin' some!"

Lisa nodded, putting the tracker in her back before pulling her sawed-off out and holding it in her right hand.
"We'll do everything we can, If anything goes wrong we'll head back as quick as possible. We won't leave without him." She confirmed before heading off towards the compound with Ivan in tow.

She looked into the almost silent room, It was dark with a lot of beds. The majority were asleep, apart from a few who were sitting to the right side of the room, chatting quietly.
"-It came from nowhere."
"It tore up the screening room first. Poor bastards thinking they escaped only to die moments later..."
"That Sonofa..."
Christie look a few steps forward towards the men. They turned to face the woman, spending a few moments studying her then standing and saluting.
"L.C Bailey, Ma'am."
She gave a smile at the survivors from team Foxtrot.
"At ease."

"So am I. Watching as people line up at the door to let the military in only to be gunned down by that same military is less than pleasant. Even more so when the survivors are herded into rooms and executed. Scientists and security guards all of them, makes trusting military men a bit difficult you understand. I'd like to meet this General Kaufman, I saw something else on those tapes he might be interested in if he isn't like that particular group." Jack said

"I don't think you can see Kaufman until you get verified, and even then it wouldn' be private or anything like that. Sorry you had to see that kinda stuff I-" Dewey started before noticing a Jeep pulling in, "-I gotta go man. That's my team over there and I need to check on them. Bye." With that he ran off to follow the jeep as it made it's way over to the Office building.

"Good luck," Adries said to Lisa, waving a hand as she and her uncle watched them head down.
"I have to say, bringing Alan out is not going to be easy," Albert told Adries, looking at all the guard posts.
"Memorizing the patterns?"
"You bet."

"Yea, see ya." Jack called as he walked back to his room. He went back to the bed and decided to wait for the time being. He probably wouldn't stay in that room long, but he hoped he could be cleared quickly.

They made it to the border of the compound that secured the area. She put her hands behind her head, to show compliance while Ivan did the same. They approached the guards what were watching the outpost, slowly. They raised their guns and lowered them when they saw no danger, before approaching them.

Christie spent a few moments with the survivors offering praise and cigarettes to the men. She wasn't too pleased by the amount of information they gave, but chose to leave the subject on what happened for the time being. They asked a lot of questions about where she had been and if they had heard anything. She said nothing much either, leaving after a few minutes with parting words saying she'd be back soon. She left and exhaled deeply after closing the door.

"So, you found them?" Jacobs said, waiting on a bench outside, "I'm assuming you did since you look a little relieved."

The soldiers at the gate checked the weapons from Lisa and Ivan and put them in a box. "You'll get them back," one said, checking everything else they had. She found the tracker and looked at it, figuring it was just a normal one that led them here. She gave it back and showed them their next destination. "Make sure neither of you are infected," she said, pointing to a building close to them.

Christie walked over to the bench, standing beside him.
"That's right. I'm glad a few made it. They are still pretty out of it though. I promised that i would visit them later if i got any updates. It's endearing. They're still as respectful as ever, even after what happened." She shook her head, believing she was starting to ramble.
"Anyway, anywhere to go now?"

Lisa took back her bag after it was searched through, relieved as ever that they had given back the tracker. She waited for Ivan to pick up his stuff and they both followed the directions to the building. She was slightly wary of the sterilized building, not sure but interested as to how they'd test for the virus.
