I don't know the full story so I couldn't possibly say. It seems rather horrible from here, but without knowing the context who can say? She might have been bragging to other kids that she'd had something else on her.

This is something you would expect in the most corrupt and disturbing fascist states in history. The mere notion that the act is going to be discussed from being right or wrong in the supreme court sickens me. Though it really doesn't fucking surprise me anymore.

But guys, you need to calm down a bit. The Supreme Court isn't stupid. There were very obvious rights violations going on here; nobody is going to rule in favor of unconditional strip searches in high schools, I doubt that specific argument is even going to be brought up. This is being taken to the supreme court because 1) it's a constitutional problem, not just a legal one and 2) the ruling will need to apply in equal course to any school where this particular situation arises, because, again, it's a constitutional problem.

The whole zero-tolerance thing has deftly avoided the supreme court for way too long, if you ask me. Locker searches and random drug testing is perfectly reasonable and doesn't violate anything, but the extent to which schools have redefined these previous court decisions in order to abuse powers they aren't even supposed to have is despicable. It comes as no surprise to me that it eventually went too far, I just wish the sup. court had bothered to take notice of the situation first. There's a difference between proactive enforcement and tyranny. And too many schools have been gleefully crossing that line for years now.

A while ago, a girl got in trouble over the "zero tolerance" thing because her friend had an asthma attack, inhaler was empty, so the friend gave her hers. She was sued by the school.

Well, it's a matter of constitutional rights. 4th amendment rights. Does a school have a right to take these measures? It's a perfect supreme court case. Those are the cases that the supreme court takes.
