Huh...so we're not due a solar eclipse then?

I've not seen any of the previous movies and I don't imagine I'll watch this one either.

Oh...

I thought this thread announcing a solar eclipse.

Though now I wish there was going to be one so that someone would have goddamn a car accident and die on their way to see the movie so all those fucking busy body parents would start talking about how Micheal Bay is the devil and burn down the theater.

Then maybe it won't make so much fucking money and they'll stop making sequels...

Needles to say, I'd prefer the solar eclipse

Michael Bay is easily the worst director working in Hollywood today. Anyone who actually enjoys his movies obviously doesn't know what a good action movie entails: Interesting characters in exciting situations. Not Shia LeBitch screaming at a green screen for 2 and a half hours. And don't give that, "Oh dude it's just a popcorn movie it doesn't have to be good." Movies like this are not popcorn movies, they're just horrible movies.
Sorry, does that include Uwe Boll? 'Cause if thats the case, I really can't agree with you.

Wow.

Even though I dislike the movies, I have to admit that trailer is totally awesome and very well-done. I feel like watching the movie now.

DAMN YOU HOLLYWOOD I'LL REMEMBER THIS. *shakes fist angrily at the clouds*

I was kinda looking forward to it, but when I found out it was pushing Captain America's release date back off of July 4th, I began loathing it.

If it can tighten up a bit (i.e. not introduce characters who could be cool, like the Autobot sports car at the beginning of 2 then have them drop off the face of the Earth in favor of "wacky" comic relief) it might be good. Also, less of the military stuff. Military movies are usually good, but we're not here for Josh Whathisface, we're here for robots whaling the tar out of each other.

And does the subtitle make anyone else think Pink Floyd?

The difference between Uwe Boll and Michael Bay:

Uwe Boll is a German director. Uwe Boll has made one good movie (Rampage). Uwe Boll doesn't have movies released in theaters.

Michael Bay is an American director. Michael Bay has never made a good movie. Michael Bay does have movies released in theaters.

I honestly don't mind the Transformers movies, I know people give them a lot of hate but honestly they aren't that bad. That being said I was never a Transformers fan growing up so don't feel the sting of Michael Bay destroying everything I held dear as a child. But from an outsiders point of view they are OK, not good, wouldn't see them again by choice but not the worst catastrophy to ever strike the Earth.

The problem I have is that I don't want to watch Shia La Beof that much, if I want to see a film about robots' I want to watch the robots not him. And notice how I said 'if I want to SEE a film about robots' if you've spent all of this money on a massive CG shot of two gigantic robots ripping each other apart then for the love of good keep the camera still once in a while so that it's actually possible to see whats happening.

Michael Bay is 10x better than Uwe Boll at least.

Well, at least I can be happy in the fact that either:

A) People who aren't easily entertained will avoid this movie and leave me to my mindless mechanical and vehicle explosion glory, or...

B) Those same people will go just so they can trash the movie, and I can ask them to be removed from the theater. :D

You fucks want to know something? You're just bitching over the latest popular thing. It's a fun movie, put your criticism out of your mind, lean back, and enjoy watching giant robots blow each other to hell. That's why people enjoy this film, why can't you people?
First of all, if you're going to expect reasonable comeback, it's best not to start with "You fucks"

Secondly, it's now popular before it's released, is it? That's a twist.

And we (the people who cheered the hardest when we heard Transformers was coming to the big screen) should just accept that Michael Bay is making another horrific Dawson's Creek movie with the Transformers as the background characters? That his direction of action is like a child with Attention Deficit Disorder? And he'll judiciously spread racism, sexism, and his own world view across the screen?

We should just never speak of anything that we dislike? Ever?
They're not exactly my favorite, and if you don't like them fine. But don't keep stepping on people just because they like them.
In all of the quotes you had, do you see anyone attacking people who go and see his films? No...
The attacker here is you. Perhaps because you know deep down what the movies are like.

Here's a test - Name one of the major scenes of either of the two previous films. Dialog would help. Remove all extraneous action and just give us the feeling of that moment.

I'll be waiting.

And don't keep stepping on Michael Bay just because he likes to make things explode. He at least did a decent job with Pearl Harbor.
It's not that he likes making things explode, it's that he uses explosions as a cut-scene. And Pearl Harbour was awful as well.

Y'know, just a thought here, but the concept of a "popcorn movie" ignores the fact that the only compelling reason to go to a theater these days in an era of surround-sound giant-screen asshole-on-cell-phone-free home theater is that there has never been a compelling way to make true movie theater popcorn at home.

The greasy kernels are the entire selling point for the trash-tastic Hollywood movie experience these days.

I'd like to see Michael Bay do a Care Bears movie.

Just think about that for a minute.

You've started grinning, haven't you?
Yes, Yes i have, now stop reading my mind.

OT: Here's the thing i don't get, There is, understandably, a demand for, "brainless action movies" if you were......and that's perfectly fine......
But why not just play Video games? I mean, MP shooters ARE brainless action. Hell even some SINGLEPLAYER games are brainless action. Just boot up CoD4, or Bad company 2, or Bulletstorm when that drops. Why pay for a movie ticket to sit and watch some snooty millionaire prick be a badass, when YOU can be a bad-ass just as easily?

Now excuse me while i go blow up a quaint russian town for the 207th time with a fucking AC-130 SPECTRE GUNSHIP!

Sometimes 'shit go BOOM, oh look, shiney robot.' Is perfectly fine. Being a self satisfied ass because you recognise that this film isn't trying to win awards for story, doesn't really make you observant or smart.
No no no. See, these are the kind of movies I like. What I didn't like was Even Stevens kid, car commercials and "Be All That you Can beeeee, in the army national guarrrrrrrd" take up 80% of the screen time. In a movie about giant fighting robots that turn into kick-ass vehicles, you don't need anything to make it more interesting.

If memory serves, Michael Bay actually get a tax break on most of his films for portraying the US Military in a positive light, as well as access to military hardware (supervised and not loaded, obviously). Your vaguely-recalled possibly-wrong trivia fact of the day.

As much as I love fun movies (Starship Troopers and Die Hard), this one is going to be a bit more serious than the previous (terrible) movie.

Well from the looks of it? Every human being is going to be involved...AGAIN which doesn't help the name 'Transformers.' I'll be watching it anyway >.>

I love brainless action movies, and Transformers is a great series for this kinda stuff. I'm excited.
I'm of the same opinion. Not every movie has to be Oscar material.

Too bad this thread will turn out to be another Bay bash.
Amen. People just can't have fun with anything anymore.
It's either got to be amazingly deep, or it's shit. And that is very sad.

I mean, I love movies like 'Kung Pow: Enter the Fist' and 'Balls of Fury' Not because the acting and story are awesome, but because they are just silly, stupid fun. I like 'The Transporter' and Tony Jaa films and Jackie Chan films because of the action, not because the moral of the story touched my soul. Yeah, those 'great' movies have their place. I love them too. But on a lazy weeknight when I'm just looking for something to throw on to kill time, I'm not reaching for 'Schindler's List'. I'm reaching for 'Hot Rod', 'Ninja Assassin', 'Zoolander', 'Legend of the Drunken Master', or 'Shoot Em Up'.

Throw out your monocle and have some fun, people.
Geez.
