Repo! The Genetic Opera - rock/punk/industrial/pop(a little)/jaz opera/horror/triller.
Nobody I know has watch it so far. It is too bloody for the soft lyrical types and has music wich turn off the blood thursty types. Plus people just don't expect to like it. They know it is diffenrent and as we know being different is dead sentace in the movie buisness.
(few people did liked, me included, and I think that if you watch it without any expectations you will be sucked in around the 3 song)
It was a pretty good musical i liked it

Lucky Number Slevin

I thought it was awesome, but no one I know has ever even heard of it... Despite it having a good deal of great actors and a fun plot.

Same with Inside Man.
And this Lucky Number Slevin was great it's one of my favorite movies

Starship Troopers. Why? because it doesn't take itself too seriously, and everyone knows it. People expecting a die hard translation of the book, when if they put aside the expectations, its a very entertaining popcorn flick.
I loved that movie,
my parents let me watch it when I was about 5 years old,
I thought the brainbug was hilarious

This too.
Becuase all the cheese and shit dialouge was just too entertaining.
the second one wasnt very good and whats up with the 3rd ones CGI bugs and zero blood?
but the best parts where the more you know conmercials randomly in the movie.

DRAGON - The Bruce Lee Story

It's not that everyone I know hates it (I know at least one person who doesn't despise it) but I can't even get my friends around to watch it. =( I cannot understand why though, it's such a great movie.

Highlander.

All my friends think it sucks. What's not to love about it? I know Christopher Lambert can't do a Scottish accent to save his life, and the special effects are pretty terrible, but it's still a great film. Obviously you can't take it too seriously, because if you think about it for more than a few seconds you realise it has plot holes the size of Jupiter, but it's still a great film.

Go with your instinct: Children of Men was excellent.

Not a masterpiece... but not THAT far from a masterpiece. It was leagues better than the majority of things out there; both when it came out and now...
I thought it was incredible, especially the use of special effects to extend camera takes. I mean, that just blew my mind. It gave it such a cool, real feeling... sigh. Needs a sequel.
I god damned loved that movie. this and Rockin'rollas with gerald butler.
but CoM cant have a sequel. He dies at the end remember.on the row boat.

Eragon.

*hides behind a dumpster*

EDIT: I have read all three books, granted they did a bad job shortening the first book, but I though it was still a good move. Saphira looked cool.

Vanilla Sky. Thought it was awesome, but it seems to get regularly panned by everyone. I really like Cameron Diaz in it as well..

I loved Memoirs of a Geisha.. It was a great movie.

EDIT: And Starship Troopers isn't just lighthearted - its a critical look at the US army..

A movie called Hackers. It didn't do very well sales wise but I love it, it was the film that got me into computers. Also Angelina Jolie is in it which is always a good thing. =P

Most of the Arthouse pictures I go to see, my friends are certainly not the kind of people to appreciate that kind of stuff so when I tell them how amazing this movie (let's say Mongol from last year) was they say something like:
"No way man, watch Transporter 3."
Or worse when I mention how much I loved the comedy 'I Bruges' they say:
"Paul Blart Mall Cop."

Then I say, NO WAY.

I feel alienated from my own friends when this happens.

Henry Fool, most people I know hate movies with even a modicum of thought put into them.

No, whether he dies or not is left ambiguous.
