I just got my Ps3 a few months ago and I thought it was worth it. I love heavy rain and ratchet and clank I a game series I am in love with. Oh God of war tis a goood game. I like it and would recommend it.
Not to pick on Aphex Demon, but there are many responses in this thread just like it or have this attitude.Aphex Demon said:PS3 will always dominate the 360 in terms of hardware.. The new 360's still suck, and are still loud.
My friends Xbox is pretty loud in comparison with the PS3, with the disc spinning anyway.Dodgy said:Not to pick on Aphex Demon, but there are many responses in this thread just like it or have this attitude.Aphex Demon said:PS3 will always dominate the 360 in terms of hardware.. I own a PC, a 360 and a PS3 and all three have their merits. The new 360's don't suck and are JUST as quiet as a PS3. If anything, I think 360's are better looking as well, but that's again up to personal taste.
If I'm a fanboy of something, it'd probably be a PC, but I like the consoles as well. The truth is though that I play games on the 360 and use the PS3 as a (really REALLY good) BluRay player. Games like God of War don't appeal to me at all, loved Heavy Rain because of the atmosphere and Uncharted for the same reason. But those are the only games I played on the PS3. Was it good, yes, could I have lived without it, yes.
Since most games come out for both consoles, I prefer the 360 for gaming. Why? No reason, as there is little or no difference between the two consoles. I could have easily started playing on a PS3.
Hmm, the thing here is that you can't base the merits of a game on its online capabilities. You have to ask yourself, how replayable would Gears be without the online? The gameplay is bland and the characters are pretty soulless. It's a dry game wrapped in macho-fetishism and chainsaw guns. God of War? Likeable character in a rich story (at least the first one was).Aphex Demon said:Master Chief and Marcus Fenix are for Xbox fanboys.
Kratos and.. yeah.. are for PSN fanboys.
Both consoles have there exclusives, but just think about which ones are replayable over and over? God of war 3? Yeah its a sick game, yet no online? To put that in comparison with Gears (In which the online is awesome) there is no competition.
inFamous and Prototype were compared quite often when they were first released, now look, which one is getting a definite sequel? I'll give you a clue, not Prototype.Aphex Demon said:Infamous, is good, but we also have Prototype, IMO pretty much identical games of a different theme.
Heavy Rain and Alan Wake near identical? Did you even play both... or either... they're not even remotely similar in theme, gameplay or story.Aphex Demon said:Heavy Rain, yeah thats good, but we have Alan Wake? Once again pretty much identical games, with a different theme.
Prototype was shit tbh, infamous has beaten that one up.Azure-Supernova said:Hmm, the thing here is that you can't base the merits of a game on its online capabilities. It depends on the trackball - I'm using a Microsoft Trackball Explorer which is great for Unreal Tournament, but completely gimps me for Quake 3 Arena even though they're otherwise the same type of game and it's pretty much impossible to play Diablo II with it because of holding down the thumb button. I could definitely see some games not working at all with a trackball depending on the specific configuration of it and the requirements of the game, but that can be solved by using a different trackball (which may not be too desirable given the costs associated and the simplicity of using a gaming mouse, for which FPS games were designed).dathwampeer said:I played a few games on that. It's still working for certain games I think. I know it was working when I downloaded blacklight.
I've got my 360 controller on the PC for some games. It's ok for things like TF2 and killingfloor. It work'd perfectly for blacklight too.
I can't compete on a game like cod though. Mouse users are just too fast to aim in comparison. I had a trackball for my pc to save space. But I've easily found that to be the worst gaming control I've ever touched. (mind you it wasn't at graphic design standards, I use a wacom for that stuff because of pressure sensitivity and tilt controls.) I recently bought myself a good gaming mouse and I'm really getting into it. It still doesn't come as naturally as a controller though. I suppose it's just time and effort. Eventually I'll get the knack.
A lot of console FPS games use auto-aim, so if you almost land the shot it'll actually swerve the bullet to turn into a headshot. It'll give you the impression of having accuracy, but since that's missing from most PC FPS games that could also explain why you're not able to land it as much. You see. I'm the exact opposite. I'm really struggling with online PC. A game like TF2 is fine. Because it doesn't really require the same amount of accuracy as a game like COD or BF:BC 2. I only started PC gaming about a month ago. And I admit it is far superior to console gaming.I'm really enjoying it. I just find it difficult to aim. Especially snipe. On a console I can bust out the headshots with sniper rifles. Knocking them out like no ones business. I rarely get one on the PC though. I think it's panning. I can't pan with a mouse like I can with an analog. It's great for snapping to the general area. But I can't move it accurately after that. I assume that's something that will just come in time though.
One guy? Heavy Rain was focused on one central plot, involving four main characters. Whilst the plot didn't revolve around one of them exclusively.Aphex Demon said:I felt Alan Wake and Heavy Rain had very similar game play types. One guy, on a quest to do such and such.
