I didn't mean to suggest that the involuntarily unemployed were less than adult. That was careless of me and I apologize if I offended you or anybody else. I was merely trying to illustrate that I consider being 'adult' to mean more that being 18+. I should have articulated my thoughts better. Sincerely sorry.
Nah, I was in a bit of a bad mood. I get what you're saying, though. There are a lot of people that never leave home for very poor reasons, or a lack of willpower to actually go out and accomplish something.
I feel that this predicament has done me good, though. I'm with family this Christmas, and being around my niece has made me super excited for the coming celebrations. So as frustrating as it can be to still be living under my parent's roof, I'm at least with family.
I think the real issue is, when do you actually
feel like an adult? I know I don't, and in some ways I'm glad of it.

What's so funny? I'm 17 and probably more intelligent than most adults will be in their lives.
Yeah, I remember when I thought like that as well. That's not intelligence, that's hubris.
Most people I knew in College were "intelligent" as well, but there's a huge gap between intelligence and wisdom (there's a reason they are separate stats in D&D!). A lot of folks that think they are more intelligent than your average joe actually share a lot of the same ignorance. It's just got a different coat of paint.
As an example, I used to be afraid speaking my thoughts on religion around my friends because they were mostly Atheists and Agnostics and I didn't want to seem as if I was pushing my beliefs on anyone. However, they never spoke anything intelligent on theology at all. They made smart ass comments about "an imaginary sky bully" and other such things, all the while decrying religious folks for being dumb and intolerant. Funny that their attitude towards those that believed in a God of some sort was very similar to that of all those blasted high and mighty assholes trying to prohibit Gay marriage.
The fact that you said something as profoundly ignorant as "I'm 17 and probably more intelligent than most adults will be in their lives" only proves that you are not only a child, but a fool as well. So, no, you're no different than anyone else in your High School. You are just the same, except with a fresh coat of paint.
I'd advise you to grow up, but if you are even half as intelligent as you claim then you'll see in the next few years how big of a douchebag you are now.
