As i see it they focused in fixing the broken things in Fallout 3, its the same engine but fixed, so no more weird glitches or falling trough the floor, the story seems kind of stupid i give you that, but it´s so vague that it basically tells you "go nuts" in the open world, wich is what i liked about Fallout 3

I have already preordered it from Steam, I cant miss the chance to play with one of the settings I have always wanted to experience in Fallout 3, the hardcore setting where if you dont eat you starve, and ammo weights, so no more running around with 50000 .44 magnum rounds, and food will actually have a meaning to exist, that pretty much broke the game for me, if i got overcrumbed while in the middle of a quest, i would just sell all my stuff in the nearest store and exchange it for ammo, then go, finish the quest and buy it back, travel to my house, save it and repeat.

and if you have mild OCD like me, you HAVE to pick up EVERY ITEM IN EACH ROOM!!... i hated some places where there were 100 spoons or forks littered around the kitchen UGH...

anywhay, I do think F:NV will be good, if only because it fixess a lot from F3

Graphics on player models were improved upon and some other graphical tweaks but the same engine yes. Its a big world in the same size as Fallout 3 with plenty of new features then fallout 3 and also a very much improved combat system out of VATS.

Plenty of games have used the same engine and same graphics for sequels and no one batted an eye at that. Crackdown 2 uses the exact same city with a few changes to the city like destruction to go along with their near absent story and that was a pretty good game.

Mass Effect 2 also uses the same engine as Mass Effect with slight upgrades to the graphics and more gameplay changes and had a lot of similar enviroments from the first and that game was awesome.

Yeah, it does look like F3, which in my book, is a selling point. I loved F3, and I'd love some more of it.

Seriously, i haven't heard any previewer say that he or she thinks it looks exactly like Fallout 3. All it gives you is some new weapons and locations. You could do that in a dlc and get the exact same result! [See The Pit and Point Lookout].

And it doesn't look like they have upgraded the graphics in any way. ANY. I got pissed of when pc gamer described most of the map would be like F3, just with a blue sky. That pissed me off.

You can yell at me all you want, and guess more of what is good is good i suppose, but you know Yahtzee is going to rip on what ive said for about 2 minutes of his episode.
No you're not the only one, I made this exact post when the first trailers came out.

so your major complaint is that the graphics are the same? How many times do we have to cover the fact that graphics don't make a game
Exactly. Besides, if you liked Fallout 3 so much you're anticipating New Vegas, I'm guessing graphics isn't at the top of your list of priorities. They don't exactly produce the best looking games do they? Don't get me wrong, Oblivion had some awesome scenery but whenever I talk with people in F3 or TES, I feel like I'm in the hall of presidents.
So, I don't care. If they're able to make NV as interesting to explore as the capital wasteland, they can have ps2 era graphics and I'll still have a ball.

Does it REALLY matter? This is NOT fallout 4. Its practically a side story to the whole fallout universe. That is like seeing GTA fans ***** because GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas would be cheap games because they have GTA3 graphics. And they do(did), but that does not diminish in ANY WAY how great those games were. Plain and simple, the OP needs to look past the graphics and see a game that can actually bring a lot to the table.

It seems like it's an expansion pack, but it isn't.... Price of a new game and length (I assume) of a new game. On the other hand nobody's calling it Fallout 4.... What is this strange creature?

I wonder what you'd want out of a post-apocalyptic desert. I mean, I would assume there is only so much you can do with a landscape that has drastically reduced/altered plant life, and rarely enough rain to fill a thimble.

That being said, it would have been nifty for the desert town of Las Vegas to be a rain forest in post-apocalyptia.

The fact that it looks just like Fallout 3 is the exact reason I am buying it. My biggest fear when it was announced was that someone would muck up the perfection of Fallout 3 by trying to make it more like the originals or trying to take it some whole new direction.

Thankfully they didn't mess with it too much and my hope is for something that is at least as great as Fallout 3 in the fall. No need to improve perfection, just give me a new story and a bunch of new side quests and leave me alone.

I don't care much about how it looks (almost exactly the same) I just hope they changed up:

The shooting controls (I hated Fallout 3's shooting mechanic, you had to use VATS or you would lose ammo fast)

The ugrific facial models (Yeah I know, with Bethesda, having ugly ass characters is sort of par for the course, but this game is being developed by Obsidian. Please adjust the damn facial models, I swear the people are more horrifying to look at than the wasteland monsters)

Being developed by Obsidian, my biggest fear is that the game will be glitchy and unfinished. Obsidian isn't a developer with a great track record for this, and even though I love Alpha protocol, it still could've used a lot more polishing before its release. I hope New Vegas doesn't suffer the same fate.

I want to like this one, I really do... please deliver Obsidian!

Who cares what Yahtzee says?
He isn't a game reviewer.
He is a comedian.

Just because the graphics look similar doesn't mean that the game is going to be bad, just almost entirely like Fallout 3.

Since its not being made by Bethesda that's a selling point
The fact it uses the same engine as FO3 isn't
And i hope they didnt do the same crap Beth did
Nickel and Dime us just to keep playing
-That was off to me-

Everything in the game is more of the same, most of the new game has already been done with mods so I really dont have an interest in the game.

They were bragging about a grenade launcher machine gun, they have that in mods so what do I care? Ironsight aiming, thats been a mod for a while. Do I want to play it? Sure but not for 50 bucks no.

I've noticed, and I'm not sure I'm okay with it. I hated the look of Fallout 3. A great game, mind you, and great environments, but some people looked like they just got beaten with an ugly stick. I'm not sure I want to sit through that again.

Two things, 1) you are never the only one, 2) I thought the game looking the same was kind of the point. Looking the same, but in a new location, new story, new characters and so on.

Fallout 3? Good. Fallout 3 improved, fleshed out in some areas, moved to a traditional Fallout setting, but not fucked around with too badly? Better.

I know I'll catch shit for this, but I LIKE "lack of originality" in gaming, because the stuff that's innovative seems to hew to Sturgeon's Law. I have limited funds to spend on games, so I gravitate toward proven formulas.
