Halo FTW! Yeah, I'm getting the remake on day 1. Sue me, the original is great and a better running, better playing, better looking, better online remake is totally worth every fucking penny. And the fourth looks to be pretty fracking slick as well.
I agree with you 2. HALO FTW!

I can't wait for the new instalment, if people don;t like them they should just ignore it.
i know i love all the halo series and im pumped for the anniversary edition mostly because i never bought the first game and 4 looked good hopefully it will be

Seriously, what's happened to innovation in the gaming market?

Oh wait, it's on PC.

Come on consoles, step it up. No more endless Mario/Zelda titles please Nintendo.
i'd like to know what PC gaming is innovating that consoles aren't. seriously, make me a list.

if you mean graphically, with hardware melting games like crysis (which was universally panned as poor gameplay in pretty makeup) then you're in gaming for the wrong reasons. while i enjoy the graphics of our current generation, they are in no way needed for a good game, or should be considered "innovation"

in fact, as much as i hate it, the 3D and motion sensing gaming is as close to innovation in todays game market as we are seeing. and these things are almost exclusively console features. what other examples do you have? the only real gaming innovation that still mostly belongs to the PC crowd is MMO gaming. and that's on the way to the console market too. and not ff11, but i mean things like Class4 (the persistant online world zombie game coming to xbox, and the follow up to the smaller Class3, which if you read up on, is AGAIN a console exclusive gameplay innovation.)

and how about the xbox indie games? while a lot of the time, these games are crap, just the fact that we've been given the tools to create actual games, and not just half life mods.

i, in no way hate pc gamers or pc gaming. but to say it's more innovative than console gaming is just blind, blatent elitism.

and at least my performance in online shooters on consoles isn't effected by how good my hardware is. with consoles we know that everyone is playing on the same piece of hardware, and therefor are judged purely by their skills. or their ability to crabwalk.

In a word, Minecraft.

In some more words, the original Portal.
Minecraft is coming to Xbox.

Portal is on XBLA...

Try again.

Coming to =/= made for.
Portal IS on XBLA...and has been for ages. And if Minecraft does come then i assume PC won't innovative...

My point still stands...try again.

i mostly agree with you but you also for get that the pc still dominates the RTS genre
oh yeah, i'll never argue that. i enjoy halo wars, but the controls for RTS just aren't made for consoles. halo wars needs a shift+1, shift+2, (EDIT: or is it ctrl+1, ctrl+2, etc? been awhile since i played warcraft, i forget...) etc squad creation and selection option. it makes for much more strategic armies. RTS belongs to the pc world. and turn based i'd venture to say. i love heroes of might and magic.

2 titles that are innovative=/=innovation for the whole market.
I admit, Minecraft was innovative, but it could easily have been done on any console, or apparently on the Xperia Play.
Portal was on all consoles, yes, it was built for PC, but it released on Xbox and PC at the same time.
Also:Valve's upcoming game is a sequel, their most recent game is a sequel, their last game was a sequel, and that was a sequel to a game that wasn't made in-house by Valve (IIRC)

Pretty much E3 has gone like this so far:

Microsoft: Kinect implementation, foreseen releases, some nice gameplay footage. (Honestly was happy with the new uses of kinect)

Sony: Hur Hur buy our 3D TV's (although the new splitscreen overlay feature was something I thought about and was looking forward to), Playstation Move, Foreseen releases and nice gameplay footage.

Guesses for Nintendo: Five rehashes, a new console, and 200 dollar controllers.

And it appears to work. Quite well. I think Sony also apologised for all the PSN stuff.

Oh and to the "try again" guy, What's the nearest approximation to Civilisation that the console market carries?

in a conversation that i had with friend the other day, we kinda decided that most valve games are just half life sequels. obviously, that is a WAY over simplification, but seriously, it seems like all valve games seem like half life mods. and then valve just buys the company that created the mod.

happened with counterstrike, left 4 dead, and portal.

(i should point out that i own every valve console game, and, redundantly, most of the same one's on steam, so i'm not a hater or naysayer, just an observer.)

What's the nearest approximation to Civilization that the PC market carries? All I hear is "HURR DURR WE'RE BETTER BECAUSE OF GRAFICZ AND KEYBOARD MOUSE OR DIE."
Unless you mean the game Civilization.

I agree, I love Valve, but I think that they get too much credit for what they do.
But on the other hand, I am apparently a 14 year old tool because I like Call of Duty , according to most of the people here.

Well in fairness, they are all built on the source engine. Mainly because it's amazing.

Mainly because they've been using the same series with the same basic mechanics for a while now.
But, there's a reason that it hasn't changed much: Don't fix what isn't broken.
I loves me some Nintendo.

You are so edgy and hardcore that if I ever met you in real life I would probably slap you silly.

It works for some franchises. Smash Brothers, for example. But not all of them. especially in that one franchise where the final, final boss is more often than not, a giant pig.

Those games trying to be deep and fail because they tried can't match the story by nintendo. Most people say pokemon has no story, and mario, and etc.
Fact of the matter is I think Nintendo is the only on focusing on what's important, Fun.
Not being hardcore or anything fun.

I agree, but more often than not, Zelda is played more for the gameplay than the story, because the story is usually.
>Princess kidnap
>Young boy that has never been a hero must be hero
>Young boy rescues princess.

The gameplay you refer to of course being,

Throw boomerang
Fire hookshot
swing your time travelling sword.
Also there's an ocarina

And a horse, sometimes.

Yes, but it is fun, IMO.
The gameplay you refer to of course being,
Throw objects with Gravity Gun
Fire guns at Combine
Swing your bone tearing crowbar
Also there's a city 17

And a female accomplice, sometimes.
Or alternatively:
Throw turrets
Fire portals
Swing turrets
Also there's a cube

And a robot that goes bad, sometimes.

Good mechanics can make a game and believe it or not Zelda has a deep story and so does mario and even Kirby. You just have to look real hard. Btw Link has very broken items, like REALLY broken. I mean the Ice arrows freeze a erupting volcano for 5 minutes all the way to the core.
