Wait up, we got a whole shiny new TOR cinematic, and we haven't even seen the Skyrim panel yet!

Admittedly, it's been a bit of a letdown so far - I wasn't at all excited about the new Halo trailer,[footnote]Yeah, it sucked.[/footnote] and everything else so far has been a waste of time, but there are still quite a few good games we've yet to get a look at, so we can at least be excited for those.

This was more my intention. However I've now realised that people get defensive about consoles. For some reason.
Well you are coming across as quite pompous about your PC. Maybe that's why.

EDIT: OK I saw your second post sorry I didn't read that one clearly, you should have not acted so arrogant in the first post though "Where's the innovation, oh wait its on the PC" makes you sound very elitist you probably could've presented your opinion in a less elitist manner.

It seems that you are the minority of PC gaming (or at least the vocal minority,) Steam is like a nightmare for us console bros, I think I have been called homosexual (or different variations of the word,) more than there is actual homosexuals (I kid, I kid.)
It's an online community - of course they're going to call you a homosexual! Doesn't matter whether it's Steam (especially 14-year-old foul-mouthed CS players), XBL, or <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.284376-PSN-vs-XBOX-fanboy-Facebook-war-so-so-funny#11197442>console wars being waged on FB.

Which is why it's a good idea to find a decent server and stick with it.
In the one PC game I do play (Insurgency,) I've found a good server, but now I'm more of an old-er PC games guy, as my computer is kinda meh.
Also, lol at the facebook link.
Well, older games do have small player bases, but they welcome new players more easily and the trolls and griefers usually have already moved on to something new.

Holy shit, when did this place become /v/? As much as a point as he has about the lack of innovation, damn. Next thing you know we're going to be discussing how much we miss the feel of videogame related topics on the videogame board.

EDIT: Dude, saw your 2nd post. Edit your OP, or else this is going to be nothing but a flame thread.

No, I ment that I am mainly playing Single Player games (So far I have CoD1, 2, Max Payne 1 and 2, Star Wars: KotR, and a few others under my belt.)

The reason some PC games may be better is because there are so many more of them. With consoles, homebrew is illegal (or at least blocked, so I assume it's illegal), with computers, anyone can make and distribute a game without paying any royalties to Microsoft.
Of course RTS's are still far superior on computers, those controls are more fit for them.

Innovation is innovation, it doesn't matter whether it is on PC or console. All that matters is what CAN be done on a certain system. The PC probably does result in more innovation, there are far more games and it is far cheaper to produce games for it, but that doesn't matter. The consoles may not be the first to try something out every time, but they still often use those innovative mechanics to improve their games.
PC's are important because they do help develop new ideas and new companies, but if all we are talking about is the enjoyment of the gaming experience, consoles are just as good. Personal preference really matters more.

Maybe? Because Halo games have been the same thing over and over with tweaks and only minor improvements/changes.
I thought that was the point to making a sequel to a video game but perhaps I'm wrong.

Aight, to continue, I agree that games in general need innovation. After all, if it weren't for innovation, we wouldn't have all these sequels in the first place.

E3 is for the investors, so they focus on what will sell.
Halo is profitable, shovelware is cheap to produce, and gimmicks expand the user base.

It's simple capitalism logic.

This may seem like a shocker here, but to some extent I agree with the OP. It's like everything but DICE has either put PC gaming on the backburner, or outright disregarded it as an inconvenience.

That's the only thing I can agree with.

What? Surely proper innovation means that sequels would a) have less of the samey crap to pad them out and more new stuff. They might still be there but they'd be somewhat different.

If it weren't for Final Fantasy 7 innovating gaming and making them story-based and jumping to 3D after FF 6, we wouldn't have that shit that is FF XII and XIII. See what I mean? When something innovates in a likeable way, it attracts a bunch of shitty sequels most of the time.

Yeah but what I'm saying is that with continual innovation shit like "Mario Jumps on something else, IN SPACE, 2!" wouldn't exist. I think we agree at a seminal level.

IMO i thought Halo 3 and Halo Reach are a lot more different compared to their predecessors.

JNA since you have that badge you may have heard this before from our own Yahtzee.
"Sequels build on their predecessors". This doesn't mean they copy them exactly.
