Oh trust me, I do my fair share of feeding trolls. It's just that, being a PC gamer myself, this kind of idiocy reflects poorly on my breed.omega_peaches said:Eh, either way it boosts my post count (or e-peen on these forums.)Raiyan 1.0 said:People fall for troll threads way too easily...
This was more my intention. However I've now realised that people get defensive about consoles. For some reason.Tim_Buoy said:i wouldnt exactly call it a troll thread but i do like me a good discussion / argument
It seems that you are the minority of PC gaming (or at least the vocal minority,) Steam is like a nightmare for us console bros, I think I have been called homosexual (or different variations of the word,) more than there is actual homosexuals (I kid, I kid.)Raiyan 1.0 said:Oh trust me, I do my fair share of feeding trolls. On topic, motion controllers aren't all bad, if games like Flower and Child of Eden have shown anything.
Trust me, when someone starts a topic with such broad generalizations, they're not looking for discussion. OP's post was simply an inflammatory statement with no discussion value.Tim_Buoy said:i wouldnt exactly call it a troll thread but i do like me a good discussion / argumentRaiyan 1.0 said:People fall for troll threads way too easily...
I know I said I wouldn't respond or anything like that but the irony here is just to fucking funny. A PC gamer saying another group is overly defensive. Wow.... just wow...TypeSD said:people get defensive about consoles. For some reason.
The same reason that you defend your PC, I prefer my console, and I like defending my purchase, do you think that consoles shouldn't be defended?TypeSD said:I see no one read my second post, go ahead, I'll wait.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't minecraft heavily based on Infiniminer, i.e to the point it is cited on the website as a major influence. So again innovation isn't layered that thickly here.martyrdrebel27 said:okay, so minecraft is a good call, but it should be pointed out that the fact that it's coming to console makes it entirely possible that the game couldve been made on a console, the fact that it's pc is incidental.TypeSD said:martyrdrebel27 said:i'd like to know what PC gaming is innovating that consoles aren't. seriously, make me a list.TypeSD said:Seriously, what's happened to innovation in the gaming market?
Oh wait, it's on PC.
Come on consoles, step it up. No more endless Mario/Zelda titles please Nintendo.
if you mean graphically, with hardware melting games like crysis (which was universally panned as poor gameplay in pretty makeup) then you're in gaming for the wrong reasons. while i enjoy the graphics of our current generation, they are in no way needed for a good game, or should be considered "innovation"
in fact, as much as i hate it, the 3D and motion sensing gaming is as close to innovation in todays game market as we are seeing. and these things are almost exclusively console features. what other examples do you have? the only real gaming innovation that still mostly belongs to the PC crowd is MMO gaming. and that's on the way to the console market too. and not ff11, but i mean things like Class4 (the persistant online world zombie game coming to xbox, and the follow up to the smaller Class3, which if you read up on, is AGAIN a console exclusive gameplay innovation.)
and how about the xbox indie games? while a lot of the time, these games are crap, just the fact that we've been given the tools to create actual games, and not just half life mods.
i, in no way hate pc gamers or pc gaming. but to say it's more innovative than console gaming is just blind, blatent elitism.
and at least my performance in online shooters on consoles isn't effected by how good my hardware is. with consoles we know that everyone is playing on the same piece of hardware, and therefor are judged purely by their skills. or their ability to crabwalk.
In a word, Minecraft.
In some more words, the original Portal.
and, correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't portal hit all markets at the same time on the orange box? again, not a pc thing. in fact, the portal idea was done (on a much simpler scale) on the 360 launch title prey. there was a blue entrance and an orange one, that looking into it shows the other side, and takes you there as well. in fact, playing portal, prey was the first thing that came to mind.
(EDIT: to stop the innevitable "porting a game is not the same as actually making it on the hardware, an xbox indie game created a minecraft ripoff from the ground up thats almost identical to minecraft. the fact that mojang chose pc to make it on doesn't make the innovation a pc specific one)
i actually game across all platforms some i bought with my own money others through random luck i recieved my ps3 when one of my family members who already had one won a second one in a subway contestomega_peaches said:The same reason that you defend your PC, I prefer my console, and I like defending my purchase, do you think that consoles shouldn't be defended?TypeSD said:I see no one read my second post, go ahead, I'll wait.

And yes, I did read your second post, but that seems irrelevant when you are blindly saying that PC>Consoles because of Portal and Minecraft.
(Portal wasn't Valve's Idea, and Minecraft is a lot like Infiniminer)
A freakin menSpace Spoons said:Innovation is overrated. Judge games based on how fun they are and you'll be much happier.
Talk about lucky, I saved up for a year for my PS3 (Being a 14 year old male in a predominately rich neighborhood doesn't help.Tim_Buoy said:i actually game across all platforms some i bought with my own money others through random luck i recieved my ps3 when one of my family members who already had one won a second one in a subway contestomega_peaches said:The same reason that you defend your PC, I prefer my console, and I like defending my purchase, do you think that consoles shouldn't be defended?TypeSD said:I see no one read my second post, go ahead, I'll wait.

It's an online community - of course they're going to call you a homosexual!omega_peaches said:It seems that you are the minority of PC gaming (or at least the vocal minority,) Steam is like a nightmare for us console bros, I think I have been called homosexual (or different variations of the word,) more than there is actual homosexuals (I kid, I kid.)
In the one PC game I do play (Insurgency,) I've found a good server, but now I'm more of an old-er PC games guy, as my computer is kinda meh.Raiyan 1.0 said:It's an online community - of course they're going to call you a homosexual! Which is why it's a good idea to find a decent server and stick with it.
