Let me put this simply.
Metroid Prime is one of the best games I've ever played.
Heck, if you can get your hands on a Wii and Metroid Prime Trilogy, I'd recommend that.
But as far as Gamecube games go,
F-zero GX is pretty sweet.

I'm Commander Shepherd and Metroid Prime is my favourite game on this console.

Closely followed by Beyond Good and Evil. Seriously, you like Zelda? Go buy BG&E. Like, right now.

Luigi's Mansion is one of my favorite games ever made, get that.

Super Mario Sunshine is another must have.

Also if you're willing to take a gamble, I remember having lots of fun playing the first Lost Kingdoms, I'm not sure if I'd enjoy it now but as a kid I fucking loved it.

Finally, Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean and its prequel, Baten Kaitos: Origins. Two of the very small selection of RPGs on the Gamecube. I picked up Baten Kaitos: EWLO on a whim one day and proceeded to spend the next 60 hours enraptured in the game.
I was waiting for this to show up in this topic.

Those games need more love, better than Final Fantasy in my opinion, and that's saying something.

The first game ranks in my top ten, for sure.

Also, every self respecting gamecube owner shouldn't be without eternal darkness, that game is incredible.

The only ones I can think of of the top of my head have already been said:

Fire Emblem
Eternal Darkness

Also, asking if there are any good Gamcube games is like asking if fish live in water. ;P
Also SSBM and a few others here and there that I can't recall atm.
Either way, I love my gamecube games... which I play on my Wii, lol.

Thinking back about it as a kid, I always felt left out because my friends with xboxs could play halo and the like, but now thinking about it, (and after actually getting to play halo and having my expectations crushed) the GC rocked, way to go, now I'm going to tear up Amazon looking for all the GC games I missed as a kid and the ones I sold, way to send me into a nostalgia rage, guys.
some epic ones include
the timesplitters series (you can get 2 & 3 on the GC, if you like a fast paced shooter with infinite replay value, get this)
paper Mario and the thousand year door (epic, but I got stuck on one of those between chapter intermissions where you had to make that F@#%ing invisibility potion as peach, I couldn't do it for some reason
Star Wars rouge squadron, there is 2 and 3 for the GC, 2 had the better campaign hands down, but 3 had the campaign 2 had, ON CO-OP!
hmmm, I'd have to think about some other great ones, but those were some of the best I could remember

the games I enjoyed the most were:

Resident Evil 4
Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker
Eternal Darkness (though getting a copy can be an absolute pain)
SSX3 (the radio commentary is so good and there's tonnes of it too, enable only one song to be played, what the DJ starts saying is brilliant)

Other ones worth checking out:

Super Mario Sunshine
Pikmin
Metroid Prime 1+2
Luigi's Mansion
Mario Cart: Double Dash
Hunter the Reckoning (DO NOT play on your own, its pretty much impossible as a single player)

Not having my console at uni means I can't check through my collection to see what I might of forgot but they're stand out titles!

I can pull out my whole collection, but i can't really be arsed going upstairs because i'm lazy.

Off the top of my head, Resident Evil 4 is fucking amazing on the GC: much better than the PS2 port, but not as good as the PC version from what i hear.
The Day of Reckoning series (wrestling games) are fantastic aswell.
In response to the Res 4 comment, the PC version was actually a shoddy port of the PS2 version, turns out it's actually inferior. The Wii version is hands down the best, just for the simple fact that you can have your head-shots lined up before you've finished raising your weapon!

As for the OP, I would definitely recommend Skies of Arcadia, Smash Bros. Melée, The Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition, XIII, Luigi's Mansion [if you can find it cheap, it's a fun game but too short and with little replay value], Wind Waker, Killer 7 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica.
Oh, and the Res remake. Although I'm too wussy to play it.

IF... you're into some cooperative multiplayer awesomesauce, I would heartily recommend X-Men Legends II to you and up to 3 friends.

Last time I played it one of my mates kept falling asleep, and we'd only notice because every so often Wolverine would forget to turn.

2nd EDIT -

Crazy Taxi! Well worth owning on at least one previous gen console. I kicked it's ass on the GC and PS2, but never could get it right with the Dreamcast controller.

3rd EDITY -

This. If you loved No Mercy on the N64 this is the closest you'll get on the GC, PS2 or Xbox. Although Smackdown Here Comes the Pain on the PS2 is quite solid. Probably the best roster of any Smackdown game and features coming out the wazoo.

Do you have a PS2 or Xbox? If yes, do you have Metal Arms: Glitch in the System? If yes, ignore me.

If no, then hunt down Metal Arms: Glitch in the System, because it is AWESOME.

Also, Ikaruga, bullet hell fun. Skies of Arcadia: Legends. but those have been mentioned. OH, oh! If you don't have a PS2 or Xbox, Soul Calibur 2.

Also Wind Waker. My favorite Zelda game ever.

of course Metroid Prime as well.

so yeah TL:DR (you lazy bum) Everything that has been mentioned, plus Metal Arms: Glitch in the system and Soul Calibur 2.

Thank you so very much for completely failing to properly read my opening paragraph. I wasn't saying I preferred the Gamecube over the PS2, I was saying I preferred it over the Nintendo 64. I loved the Gamecube AND the PS2. I mean, you do know we can like more than one now, right? Anyways, this thread is still not about consoles!!!!! It's just about what games to get for a system that you definitely own. And calling yourself or your opinion humble isn't humble.

Captcha "words": youviva 449
Whatever.

I was just using your comment as a jumping off point for for a very thread-relevant topic about PS2 and gamecube's relative success, I said nothing about you. If you've got a problem with that then maybe this will help relieve your grief:

I responded to your post. Get over it.

If you disagree with anything I said like you actually think PS2 sold well purely on games then I'd be glad to hear any thing you have to add but if you don't think my post was relevant then just ignore it don't lecture me that I shouldn't have gone there.

"And calling yourself or your opinion humble isn't humble."

IMHO means "In My HONEST Opinion", or at least that's the way I use it and everyone in the UK means it. It's such a common acronym, you are straight up trolling if you genuinely have a problem with that.
[small]Trolling as in looking for trouble and making a big deal about it rather than trying to be a bit more considered and measured.[/small]

Truthfully I never played Twin Snakes, I just know I enjoyed original MGS on PS1 and since he was after good Gamecube games, I naturally assumed the port would be good.

Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil (remake) are amazing. You can also get the other Resident Evil games.

Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes - best game on the GameCube.

Wind Waker - Fantastic.

Mario Kart: Double Dash - Amaaazing.
Everything this guy said. Minus metal gear..... because console exclusives suck. Console exclusives that start multi-platform. Then become exclusive... then branch off into different stories, to bend the rules on the non exclusive platform... suck even more.
Ignore that, sour grapes there. MGS: Twin Snakes is the greatest game in the Metal Gear Series. So what if it was an exclusive? Didums have to get the GC just for this, awwwww. I would have. It's good enough to warrant a GC just for Twin Snakes.
I don't 'pay' for any console exclusive on principle. If they are willing to cut out a percent of there audience. I'm a drop in the ocean. I have played it.

It's a glorified, unnecessary, remake. At best.

There are far better games deserving of a remake; from that era in gaming.
