Ah here we go. Although your comment was funny enough that I'm just going to let it go.Hamster at Dawn said:Maybe you could somehow suck out their fat and use it to power our homes.
Haha yea that what they should do. If they can park there car in the parking lot that not Handicap and walk to the door. Then they should be fine walking though wal-mart.Ranis said:PUT DOWN THE FORK
But seriously stop eating. Maybe if grocery stores made a limit to how much people could buy things could change.
Also stores should be a sign that says obesity is not a handicap next to the little carts you can drive at like Walmart.
There is some real science behind that. Rather than taking a 2000 calorie/day diet and eating it in 3 meals, you would split that same diet into 6 or more smaller meals. The total would still add up to ~2000 calories but they'd be more spread out. The idea is that every time you eat, your body realizes it has access to food and will fire up the metabolism. This period of increased metabolism lasts for a few hours. It can actually speed up weight loss if you triggered a 200 calorie burn of energy by eating a 100 calorie bag of healthy chips.Ranis said:That just sounds like "snack more"crudus said:Another thing is eat more smaller meals rather than fewer larger meals (speeds up metabolism).
Ok but what do you do for my mother, who has a family of seven to feed. Or when someone movesw and has to resupplyRanis said:PUT DOWN THE FORK

Can I blame it on my scottish genes tooBorrowed Time said:6'2" here and I hover between 220lb. (100kg) and 260lb. (118kg) depending on how active I am at the moment. It's kind of funny, I've been like this since high school and was given quite a bit of crap for being 'fat' (as I was mostly 260lb then), yet in a chemistry test (we were looking at calories burned, etc...) our teacher had each of us weigh ourselves then see how fast we could run up a flight of stairs, in front of the entire class. :cough: Suffice it to say, this little 5'6" kid who weighed probably 120lb. wet (60kg) almost shouted "Whooaaaaa" when he saw me run up the stairs as I was faster then most of the 'skinny' people, though he managed to stiffle it down to an 'inside voice'.
Though I know you can't really see my torso at all (I'm no 'V' shape, more barrel like, damn italian/scottish genes) I was wearing a XL shirt in that pic and was around 235lb (107kg). People have actually come up to me before and said I have a problem. Er, yeah. Ok. Even when I'm at my skinniest I wear a size 36 pants. Now, couple that with anything shorter then a 34 length pantleg looks like I'm getting ready for a flood, yeah, not fun. Those measurements don't seem to exist here. I generally wear 2XL just so that I feel comfortable in my clothes. Hell, my shoulders are wide enough that I need XL if i don't want my shirts to look like muscle shirts.
I don't eat super healthy, but damnit I enjoy my food. I don't go out and get fast food every week, nor do I have snacks and dessert all the time, maybe once or twice a week, but when I eat, I eat. If anyone really has a problem with that, come here, I'll give ya a hug, a nice big hug!
Anyway, /rant off. (Yes Panzer_God I know this kind of stuff has been mentioned before but I just wanted to put my $20 in =P)
Nope, has to be the Italian/Scottish mix. BWAHA! Or are you talking about a pair of Scottish made jeans? If that's the case, of course!Jirlond said:Can I blame it on my scottish genes too![]()
i think this is a good idea, i dont know if it would work but its good but the clothes thing wouldn't work its alienating them.ShotgunShaman said:Idea 2: At any given gym, such as the YMCA, have exercise bikes hooked up to generators, obese people can get paid for using these bikes for a certain amount of time.
Hopefully it would result in: obese people get a workout, jobs are created in a bad economy, and a lower electric bill. These machines would also be available for home usage, perhaps with similar results.
Damn I have only the irish/scottish mix! Poor metabolism and crazy hair! it's all bad for me!Borrowed Time said:Nope, has to be the Italian/Scottish mix. BWAHA! :sigh: That's all... just, :sigh: Complete and total skewed logic, considering different people have different metabolisms. Yeah, I'm going to stop before I start flaming.. mkay...Akai Shizuku said:Everybody works, everybody gets equal food, nobody's fat.
Sure, some people would be a bit portly, but nobody would be obese.Borrowed Time said::sigh: That's all... just, :sigh: Complete and total skewed logic, considering different people have different metabolisms. Maybe, but like Max said, it's mostly a conscious choice. They can be a bit obese, but when they're so obese that they get health problems because of it, that's when I seriously don't care of them and the human rights in the same sentence.Rotukai said:... its an interesting idea but then obease people will say its against human rights etc why get treated different than thinner people...
These not only won't work but may in fact backfire and increase obesity. Want to know why? Here we go...ShotgunShaman said:Me and my brother were recently discussing the problem of obesity, and came up with a few clever ideas to help put an end to this "epidemic."
Idea 1: Clothing. Continue to make clothing as normal. But clothes can no longer be made in any size above XL.
Hopefully it would result in: obese people being forced to either lose the weight, walk around naked, or make their own clothes.
Idea 2: At any given gym, such as the YMCA, have exercise bikes hooked up to generators, obese people can get paid for using these bikes for a certain amount of time.

I don't mind when you actually have something to say, I rag on the people who say "get off the couch and get some exercise" or one of the fifty variations I'm sure you'll find.Borrowed Time said:-snip- (Yes Panzer_God I know this kind of stuff has been mentioned before but I just wanted to put my $20 in =P)
