I reckon you'd have a good career as a male stripper. Shave, and don't tell them you're male till the end.
Assuming that he worked at some kind of an alien strip club. And that's Star Wars-alien, not illegal immigrant-alien.
Anyone who likes boobs is lying when they say they didn't wish they had 3 hands in total recall!

Me and my brother were recently discussing the problem of obesity, and came up with a few clever ideas to help put an end to this "epidemic."

Idea 1: Clothing. Continue to make clothing as normal. But clothes can no longer be made in any size above XL.
Hopefully it would result in: obese people being forced to either lose the weight, walk around naked, or make their own clothes.

Idea 2: At any given gym, such as the YMCA, have exercise bikes hooked up to generators, obese people can get paid for using these bikes for a certain amount of time.
Hopefully it would result in: obese people get a workout, jobs are created in a bad economy, and a lower electric bill. These machines would also be available for home usage, perhaps with similar results.

Thoughts? Ideas of your own?

And this (hopefully) has the search bar seal of approval. In my ten second scan, I didn't see this thread.
I think you're all missing the point. You are demonising obese people by referring to them as a "problem". I'm sorry, but who the hell are we to judge? That is SHAMEFUL. In the general population in the Western world as a whole, just under 20% of all people are obese. (This figure rises to 60 or 70% if you only consider people who post on the Escapist forums.) For such a significant group of people, there shouldn't be any stigma attached to how you look!

My idea is that you're asking the wrong question. The issue isn't how to stop obesity, it's how to make effective practical use of obese people. Doesn't everyone want to be a productive, helpful member of society? Well here are some ideas for how we can make use of the obese person's unique physical build in order to benefit the common good:

1) Loft insulation.

2) Furniture (the mildly obese ones become bean bags, the slightly larger ones couches, and the seriously huge ones could be used as work-desks).

3) Home security system (jam them tightly in doorways to stop anybody getting in.)

4) Sleeping policemen (speed bumps on roads).

5) Beginner-level target dummies for attack dogs.

6) If all the above fail, they make a good source of fresh meat, and can be delicious if cooked correctly.

What I'm trying to do here is give credit to the unique abilities of the overweight person. You'll notice that I don't patronise the bulgy bloaters. I acknowledge their abilities as much as anyone else's. That's called "respect".

Everyone else here should learn from me.

Tax the fat. They put a massive strain on their country's healthcare, they use more fuel on public transport, they even require special public toilets so their folds of blubber aren't sagging over the edges of the seat.

They should be charged more for plane/bus/train tickets or forced to pay for two seats because they use more fuel and a normal passeneger gets charged for having overweight baggage when some of these pavement crackers have about two extra bags worth of fat on their fucking chin. Perhaps the worst thing I've seen is in America they sell fat people mobility scooters that old people and paraplegics use, and they use them to go everywhere. This should not be allowed, get the fuck up and walk you revolting ball of McDonalds.

It should be like smoking, make it too expensive to be fat.

If my friends' girlfriends are to be believed I make a great pillow/blanket/space heater. I'm already a home secrity system through sheer virtue of a broadsword and I killed the attack dogs who tried to get me

I don't think many people understand that this discussion is about obesity then just simply being overewight. You can be overweight but be healthy at the same time, but being obese is different.

Anyway, my cure is a bullet to the dome.

Ok, just gonna throw my opinion into what has seemingly degraded from a (halfway) decent topic into... random insults, directed from the majority to the few.
And remember that these are all just my opinions. No offence meant.

First off, let's at least try and keep this discussion vaguely intelligent. Before getting off-topic, this was just a bunch of people concentrating their hate on a group of people. And this is from the forum that I portray to my friends as practically one of the last bastions of hope for intellectual discussion on the internet.
It will now be that much harder for me to say that to them.

Second off, let's make it clear from where I'm making my viewpoint on the topic.
I'm 186cm's tall, just under 70kg's. So, while for my age (18) I am a "good" weight, I am way underweight for my height. But eh, that doesn't overly bother me.
I also have a good group of friends, some of whom are overweight.

My next point is this: while there are definitely some people out there who just let their weight get away from them, those who are "as tall as wide" (as some of my friends so very eloquently put it) and do need some serious help with their weight, there are also those who aren't actually that bad. This is something I think we need to define first.
Just... Make sure we're not lumping in the people who are simply overweight, with the people who are grossly obese, and don't know that they have a serious problem.
Some of the people who are "just overweight" are exactly that. They are still some of the best people that I have met, both friends and girlfriends, and often stronger both mentally and physically than a lot of the jocks in my year level.

Getting off topic here a bit... The point I am laboriously trying to get to here is this:
If we value our status as one of the last intellectual forums on the internet, then let's keep it that way.
Please keep this topic going, but try and offer something at least halfway serious, and less than half as stupid.

Again, no offense meant to anyone in the forum. Let's just keep it intelligent, please.

I hardly ever think its the obese person's fault, usually I see a really fat mum or dad taking their chubby son/daughter out and realize that its the parents eating habits which dictate how the child will it.
I completely agree with this, a few months ago on a train i saw an obese mum giving her two fat children a large sized load of salt covered, greasy chips, while she was also eating the same thing.

I know some people cant help being big but if you want to sort out obesity then parents should be the ones that guide you on how to stay healthy. They should give you a healthy diet at a young age. Inform you on how to stay healthy and what to avoid so that you dont become unhealthy. Encourage for you to go outdoors and exercise or do sports etc..

If parents actually use their brains and help out their children like this then perhaps a few generations later we'll be seeing a lot less balls of lard rolling down the street and more families/ communities helping each other out to prevent obesity.

Good afternoon sir. I'm fat.
I disagree. Slightly overweight at worst. I think you're over-reacting.

So what to do about this?

The main problem, as I see it, is that healthy food is more expensive than unhealthy food. If you look at the fast-food industry in general, you have to pay through the nose if you want something that's even remotely healthy and fresh. Organic products cost twice as much as non-organic. To put it short, people are getting fat because a lot of assholes like making money at the expense of other people.

Dang, I missed out on a whole lot of idiot-bashing during my trip to the bathroom. And now there are several of you without rebuttals but I'm too lazy so I'll wait for the next idiot to crawl out of his hole to beat down

How about just leave them to it? They're not hurting anyone by being fat and no one has the right to force them to change, I'm sick of these 'crusades' that people seem to have against fatties, drinkers, smokers and the like....

Stop fucking eating so much and go outside once in a while.

Honestly, obese people should get the same fate as smokers or alcoholics - no health care.
At all.

Yes, it can sometimes be genetic or whatever - but most of the time, it's a conscious choice. It's like how stupid kids should be eliminated in order to reduce the burden on the school systems.
Yea, what Max said. I even like the idea about stupid kids being eliminated :D.

Yeah, that is correct. Another good thing about living in Serbia, healthy food is cheap.
OT: Well, work out and eat healthy food. I was overweight for a while, started going to the gym and the fat dissapeared.
And really, labyrinth, stop it. You are not obese, you are slightly overweight, but not obese.

Actually, No. I've read in a science magazine that most people are fat because of genes, and yes it's a trustworthy magazine. Giving us peasants science every friday since 1939.
