Pretty much everybody hates America, but yes I'm very patriotic. America is a much better place than everyone thinks. Some people don't realize this until they visit a place without the freedoms that we are priviliged to have here.
Also we are not all fat, ignorant, gun toting, Obama bashing, Mountin Dew chugging sons o' bitches.
Some of you drink Pepsi?
Some of us drink Coke ;)

I abhor the hypocrisy in my own government, and the apathy of my country's people.
Despite all of that, there is still something worth protecting here, so...sure.
But call me a 'jaded idealist' rather than a 'patriot'; It seems to be more accurate.
I would definitely agree with this. I want my country to strive to be something more, to continue to grow and mature, and believe its potential is worth defending, but its hard not to sigh when you turn on the TV and Glenn Beck is frothing at the mouth. Jaded idealist is a good descriptor.

My country is the internet, so yes. However in the real world I live in America. I cannot be a patriot as I see the whole concept of borders as stupid. What makes American different from Canada you ask, a fucking invisible line. If we are smarter than animals how come we still cling to the idea of territory and pack based mentality?

But as I was saying I am a child of the internet, my body may live in the USA but I get food, TV, music, and games from around the world. So no I can't be a Patriot.

I love my country in the sense that I love living there. It's brilliant. I love British countryside. I don't think anyone can dislike it. It's like Oblivion on maxed out graphics but also REAL.

It does help that my view from my window is pretty similar to THIS

[sub]How's THAT for student accommodation![/sub]

Also I've been to a lot of countries but NONE of them have as comfortable grass as we do. I think that's why we're the ones known for picnics.

I'm not a patriot. I'm grateful for the freedoms and opportunities my country provides to me. I love my country's independent music scene. But a country is little more than government and pretty words on some particular chunk of rock. There exists possible conditions where I could oppose my country, or leave it. I think there rightfully should be. Because governments can do bad things, and the pretty words that hang over a chunk of land can be perverted to any cause.

I consider myself a specific "alien" type of a patriot.
That is I have a brain.

I'm not the ultra nationalistic type of idiot who sucks up everything the ruling party tells him just because I love my country. I'm not a guy who cries over a dead president he never really liked or believed in (more on that later) just because I love my country.

I love my country with a painful sometimes miserable type of love that often punches me in the gut. It's really hard to love your country when on every step you can see thugs on the street, constant technological-backdrop (even though it's much better than it used to be), people not giving shit about the fact that they do a shit load of harm to everyone by throwing their garbage to the forest and most importantly politicians who regularly show us how much they don't give a shit about our opinion and how much we CAN'T change.

It's really hard but I still love Poland... just because it's the land of my father, grandfather and so on. Maybe it's also the Slowian blood I have running in my veins and maybe it's the fact that our history consists mainly out of suffering for our beloved soil.

Or maybe I'm wrong about the brain part in the beginning and I got properly brain-washed at public school. I don't know. All I know is that I will love this country for the rest of my life, or to be more specific I will love this LAND for the rest of my life. Because the nation is same as any other is filled with idiots and thiefs.

It's been 3 years since I left...

I don't really care much; I'd prefer to live somewhere else where I don't have to listen to all this crap about horrid parties and the like, but then again I don't care that much either. I'll find myself somewhere else eventually.
the party system...is everywhere...its all just different names and faces

Yea, I know. I could just go somewhere where there's only one party though. What could go wrong there?!

Haha I love your definition of Politics.

OT: No I don't. I live in the US and don't really care much for this place. It's nice I guess but I don't think I would care if I lived here or somewhere else (as long as its not a 3rd world country). I do want to go to Canada and England, but even if I lived there I would not be patriotic. I could like the place, but that is all. I do think the founding fathers of the US had great ideas for this country but since many of their ideas can be loosely interpreted by people, little can be achieved. I respect the founding fathers, but not the country that they tried to develop.

No. We have terrible health care, crazy people and bad education.
I'm American, by the way.

i won't risk or sacrifice my life for something like..say, money or funding from the military. i'd only serve in a direct mainland invasion of America by hostiles. Otherwise i'd rather help my country from behind the lines. i can by all means put a bullet between people's eyes, but killings not my cup of tea.

Seeing how both world wars were made possible solely by nationalism I would have to say no.

I do love the good qualities of my country and wish the best for it and everyone else, but blindless faith in it's superiority is bad.

For anyone who is curious as to who that lady is, it's basicly a national-populist who heads her own party of xenophobes. I dont like her either.
