That makes sense, and I can see variety being an important facet of any entertainment industry. But an AC game in America would most likely be set in a time period not explored by video games, since that is the stated idea of the series. Excluding Darkest of Days and those terrible History Channel games, how many video games really are set during the civil war?
None that I am aware of, but at its heart it would still be a game with American accents, American attitudes, architecture and culture. I say give other cultures a chance!
But they would be attitudes, architecture, culture, and definitely accents that are faaar removed from any of the American hegemonic makeup of the gaming today. It would be a different story from a different age, focusing on the Templars and the Assassin's struggle in a new time period, rather than a game made purely for Americans/

I'm just reading up on some rumors on the possible setting of AC3. And it seems there's a lot of speculation emerging from Shaun Hastings last words in the game as being a possible reference to Civil War era America.

I'm not trying to appear critical but if the next game is set in America, as opposed to the locales in the other games, I might just cry.
If you think about it, the Starbucks would be a nice feature.

Hmm, I could see it be set in post Civil-War setting with the opening plot being something along the lines of "The guy we are told who shot Lincoln was really a member of the assassin's guild framed by templars" and then grow a plot from there involving some grandious conspiracy that goes very high up the US government chain of command. Could be pretty cool if they have us sneaking around Washington D.C. murdering people. Though it could very easily fall into that pitfall of a masonic conspiracy which would kinda suck.

Frankly I'd like to see the next one be set somewhere like industrial revolution London or Nazi occupied France. The possibilities are really quite endless and it would be great if they found a way for us to operate in multiple locations and areas of history in one game AND still tie the plot together.
I like the way you think.

It can be set in a Burger King for all I care, as long as they make some sense in this shitstorm of a plot they've come up with. I'm still trying to figure out the end of Brotherhood. Not to say that it's a bad plot, but damn is it confusing.
LOL thats nothing compared to the MGS saga.
...The MGS plot isn't that difficult to follow. It's just a very long storyline.

only if they have more modern-time desmond action.
they could make it work, only if it continues the story well.

Which is why you set it in the Revolution, American audience gets to see America, the English Audience gets their share of English people, the Canadians get to see their ancestry, the French get to see their french folks helping America, the Russians get to see their folks helping the British..that's 5 nationalities right there.
Again, I think Americans would be the only one who would find it interesting. I think it's partly because of the period (the period would main fire-arms the main form of combat which I think would annoy a lot of people) and just because of America's poor reputation. We view visiting the Third Crusades and the Italian Renaissance as an interesting view of important moments in history while some people would view a game about the American revolution as just another ego stroking. I will admit that I'm part of the camp that couldn't care less about the American revolution and would find it on par with a war game (usually World War Two) where "TEAM AMERICA SAVES THE DAY!" (Medal Of Honour and Call Of Duty may take a bow here).

I thought the game was going to be during the French Revolution, due to the fact that Shaun pointed out that the Phrygian Cap and the Masonic Eye come together in, 'only one place', which is at the top of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen.

Then again, the two symbols are on the American dollar bill, so... Maybe America.

I'm hoping with all my heart that it's France, though. There are practically no games about the French Revolution.
Sorry if it's been pointed out, but the last time the Cap appeared on American currency was in the 40s, meaning that he most likely means the French Revolution.

You know, I tried to end it on a fucking light note. Just making everything I said false, but not with you. You have to be right huh? I give up, I used to enjoy this forum, but if just going to be people like you, I won't be welcome much longer.
Aw, don't be like that.

Go and look through my post history. I never upset or annoy anyone and go out of my way to be friendly, until someone makes a personal attack on me as you did. I was just asserting my right to make a stupid joke without being called a racist.

I'm sure on any other day, on any other thread, we would have gotten along just fine.
