....whats wrong with Civil War era-America? It was a pretty tumultuous time, in both politics and general violence, plus the setting isn't really even that much more high tech than AC2. You still have horses, mediocre guns (but the shift has started, so maybe instead of an arm gun we get a hold-out revolver?)

Plus, you know, Lincoln. One of the most famous assassinations in the world. Pretty big deal.
America's a huge consumer market, especially for games. Setting it in the Civil War might kill the "exotic" portion to many.

Personally, I want more civil war era games, preferably something other than shooters, so I don't care. I'm just explaining.

Well, to throw in some "facts" for you, Australian Aboriginals are, scientifically, genetically inferior to white people.

So, logically, how is genocide not a valid opinion when they are, factually, inferior? Do explain.
I really tried to avoid getting sucked into this argument but when you say that Australian Aboriginals are "scintifically, genetically inferior"; what the hell do you mean? How are they genetically inferior I don't think they are and if you say they are, do you have any evidence?

Yeah, that would definitely play a huge part if it was set in that era.

Well in AC 2 inside the vault they had shapes on the walls that looked like Mayan temples to the sun god so i think now that they have the apple going purely by the wall inscriptions will either be based in South America/Mexico or maybe America cause they said there was a civil war there. Or another possibility in AC:Brotherhood when you gained access to the computers it said there was a team i think it was Tokyo (I could be wrong either that or I'm sure Sao paulo) that had gone missing so you could end up there still if it is Tokyo its quite unlikely.

Like Dementors or the French.
That's racist.

How would you like it if someone compared you to the French?

Dementors might be a minority and go around sucking peoples' souls out of their faces but they are people too and don't deserve that kind of racial slur.

Honestly, I think that doing it in Civil War America is an interesting move. I'm wondering how they will dish out the damage. They certainly offer plenty of reason to go in that direction. Incidentally, I don't think Japan would work. Yes, there were assassins there, but if history there is to be believed, the part that says they were pushed back not once, but twice by kamikaze (divine winds) says that they failed there. It has nothing to do with an assassin's victory; nature won that battle. There's no ground to gain. French Revolution...there is no way that can end well. In Assassin's Creed 2, they were explicit about saying Joan of Arc had a Piece of Eden, but she lost it to her enemies when she was burned at the stake. In this case, C.W. America is a better choice.

Incidentally, I do know of a game set in the French Revolution. It's called Jeanne d'Arc, for the PSP.

EDIT: I just looked up the French Revolution and realized I'm an idiot. Forget what I said about it before. However, it's still a bad idea because France and England were still enemies at the time.

I don't care where they set it as long as it is as good as 2/Brotherhood and they fix the plot so that it comes to a conclusion that actually makes sense.

Seriously! It started as we are Assassins (good guys) they are Templars (bad guys) let's go stab their leaders. I like this idea!

If they ever fix this I'll be impressed

It amazes me how many inferior races there are in the Potterverse. Fleur's French, Hermione's a filthy Mudblood and Ron's ginger.
Plus that Blondie Albino one is Irish, the *****. And that other one too, the one eyed Gleeson.

We'll take the Dementors, the Mudbloods and the Weasleys, but we won't take the Irish! Harrumph, harrumph.

I want a few more AC games and I want them to be good, that is all I care about. I would like to see Napoleon(bet he was a templar) era and the civil war would be cool as it could offer links to more huge events, maybe the civil war was caused by the templar/assassin war?

I would want to follow a logical family line, it would have to have a damn good reason to go to asia or africa. Assassins Creed: The Vacation Years

basically this. i dont see what is so bad about it.

or could it be..because it involves america? okay get off your high horse on geography, its an interesting time period set with lots of lore and shadow/assassination types involved, so it could work out pretty well depending on how they handled it.
Its just America is so overdone in video games, its the setting for most games out there and I just find it refreshing when a game takes it upon itself to be different. Instead of conforming to the country with the largest market.
most games out there lately are set in the middle east or some false european country.if every game you play is set in america, maybe you should try halo, or call of duty black ops, or fable 3, or two worlds 2, or gothic 4 arcania, or dawn of war 2, or bad company 2, or... the list goes on and on. the only game I can think of that has come out recently and is set in america is fallout 3. and really, thats not even the united states of america, its a wasteland, and its ruins are so alien it might as well be mars. so quit complaining, the only civil war games with any hype thats come out recently is darkest of days and that was... blegh

I didn't notice the sign on the door of Hogwarts that said "No Irish need apply"

On a related note, I'm gonna go make me some nachos

Sh*t. Sorry man. I deliberately left the ending of AC1 vague but then I let my fingers run away with me. I've edited it into spoilers now anyway.
I actually did a while ago but my cat jumped on my bed before I could post this and we all know how cute cats are, right?
