I hate to say this but that really isn't the case, even with a system such as that one. There is still due process; that phrase is only usable once you get into the court system. You first actually need to be charged with a crime, the police need decent enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant and they need to make sure they have enough evidence to hold their case in court.Pirate Kitty said:You believe anything you read? They haven't. If that was the case, anyone could accuse anyone of anything and they would be assumed guilty until the conclusion of a trial -- which could take months or even years to resolve. Any country that uses that... 'legal system', if you can call it that, is barbaric and unevolved.Lost In The Void said:Actually I believe, though I could be wrong, that America has started to employ the "Guilty until Proven Innocent" clause instead. So actually it might be presumed that she's guilty now until her defence, if she goes for it, proves her innocent.Pirate Kitty said:Arrested? So she is still innocent. Will be interesting to see how many people will jump on the speeding bandwagon of words as fact and forget the justice in the criminal justice system.
Just my two cents
But she is fit to "chop, saute and bake her way to the top of the culinary world". On Facebook.Lem0nade Inlay said:OT: Terrible story though, she wasn't fit to be a parent.
Fixed. Doesn't matter what you're doing, you NEVER leave a 1 year old child alone when there's something that can harm them.Irridium said:If you're a parent and you leave your 1 year-old baby alone in a bathtub full of water...YOU'RE A BAD PARENT!
Why do you pull the same straw man for every single thread that has some sort of legal background to it? It's not like they're charging her with murder. They're charging her with negligence, and she admitted to neglect.Pirate Kitty said:You believe anything you read? Interesting. Nice to know anyone can convince you of something so easily. It's not a matter of not being able to have one. I just don't see their purpose. I see them as a drain on the person who they "Belong" to while providing zero benefits. I don't like a thing about them, or them themselves. It's just almost biologically hardwired into our brains to be mesmerized by their "cuteness". It doesn't work with me.Tourette said:Wow. Hate is such a strong word when used in it's proper context instead of used as a flipant remark which I don't think was your intended use.
Why hate babies? You are either seriously warped and disturbed or just a pathetic ignorant person who hates on something he can never have himself.
With that attitude I do hope for the sake of humanity you never procreate.

34-year-old Shannon Johnson has been arrested after telling police officers that the reason her one-year-old son drowned in a bathtub several months ago is because she was busy playing a game on Facebook and left him to bathe unsupervised.
Really? I use Facebook on a daily basis and I'm no more irresponsible than I was. Please don't generalize; not everyone who uses Facebook are the kind you read about. Although there are a fair amount of dicks on it...Cid SilverWing said:This is why we can't have Facebook, people. It seeds and rewards irresponsibility.
Would it make sense to say that if she was playing a game like I don't know, Half-Life or Bioshock, it wouldn't be as bad?Sion_Barzahd said:Agree with Ethan, its usually farmville. Still neglecting children over these lame-ass facebook games?
Its sad and pathetic and something else i can't quite find the distasteful word to discribe it.

How often do you hear about babies dying because their mother was playing videogames?
It's always Facebook, or FarmVille or something.
