I've been thinking about the whole "games are art" thing, and I was wondering what my fellow escapists consider game art. Personally, my vote goes to either bioshock or silent hill two, both of which used interactivity in the best ways imaginable

Doom. Half Life series, anything with an amazing storyline backed by brilliant voice acting. Nothing I like more then feeling as if I'm one of those people.

(the following assumes that a game that calssifies as "art" is a succesful melding of Sight, Sound, Story and Gameplay)

Okami, and Shadow of the Colossus are very worthy contenders. but ill also add Odin Sphere and Psychonauts.

Odin Sphere has a nice art style but the gameplay is too annoying for it to count but otherwise good choices, if it were on Visual style alone then yes im all for it

flOw, flower, echochrome. I would say Linger in Shadows, but I wouldn't class that as a game, it's more like a video you can mess with. I've never managed to get hold of Ico and Shadow of the Collossus, but I intend to buy them in time to get through them before The Last Guardian comes out.

Okami Hands down! you can draw your own art and its. Your weapon is called the celestial brush, ur history is based on art and drawings, you draw to fix bridges, make bombs, and grow trees. Its the best game ever(Wii version).

Jak and Daxter series

Just a perfectly smooth blend of story, character development, backgrounds, level design, back grounds, ect

Just a brilliant game.

You really do love Jak and Dexter - you've intrigued me sir.

That being said, The Path. I think there are games out there that do a lot of cool stuff int he artistic direction. Most recently I think Borderlands - from a purely aesthetic point of view - I think the cell-shading was really well done, but The Path is the only game I've played I'd consider to be Art.
