You are Revan, the Dark Lord, who was thought to be dead. It sounds better if you play the game.
I am going to have to agree with this one.

The Kotor plot twist is easily my favorite, because on your first play through it seems like it came out of nowhere, but the cutscene shows they have been eluding to it for awhile in the game.

I also like the twist in Tales of Symphonia, where you learn the truth about the chosen and world regeneration. It makes you think this is a pretty messed up world you are in.
This and this, especially the second one. Words cannot express the amount of emotional investment I had in Tales of Symphonia; there were a lot of "oh snap" moments throughout that game that really caught me off-guard. It's actually to the point that I have trouble playing it a second time because now everything is "spoiled".

Oh, and the twist in Jade Empire is one of my favourites as well.

The most recent one that I found awesome was

The Citidel is a trap

Admiral Ackbar drops by to give a hint, and ask for his lawnmower back. The green one, you still have it. He saw it on the way in, don't lie.

My favorite plot twist would have to be from Bioshock. Anyone who's played the game knows what I'm talking about, and even some who haven't, but I still won't talk about it here, because I don't want to ruin it for those who haven't played it.
Bah, at least drop a spoilered hint for people,
would you kindly?
My thoughts exactly.

KotOR, as everyone's already said.

And in Mafia where
Sam betrays you and sides with Salieri - I was so glad when Tommy shot him and proved him wrong.

You can tell by my avatar what my favorite video game plot twist is.
Actually, I can't, your avatar is a tiny image of a clusterfuck.

My favourite has to be Bioshock. Either that, or Left4Dead. Calling for help at the end of the campaign actually calls ZOMBIES! GASP!

I liked the twist in Prototype.

There is no more Alex Mercer, the virus just replicated his body. The real Alex Mercer was the one who released the virus in the first place.
Of course, the guy we have now ends up being a million times nicer than before, I think. I've yet to complete it myself so I'm not sure; just going by what I heard.

Ouch! You really shouldn't read this thread when you're tired. I accidentally almost all of the spoilers! Dammit! I didn't want to know that! Dammit! Does anyone have a neuralizer on hand?

OT: I really like the Bioshock twist. (would you kindly?) but I had that spoilerd for me too! Damn my curious and inquizitive nature! I liked the ending of inFAMOUS too, even if it was a bit "What is this, I dont even".
Cole = Kessler. They're the same person... Don't say i didn't warn you...

so what are your favorite arse on edge of seat plot twists?
Six Words:
"The Princess Is In Another Castle."

I still wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat with that phrase running through my head.

Oh, come on. It's Revan from Star Wars KOTOR. Have you ever played that game? If you haven't, you missing out on a classic RPG my friend.
Without my glasses, it looked like two bodies bloodied, on the ground, with a vague image of a throne in the background. Thanks for the clarification.

Actually, I agree, the twist in Prototype did get me by the bellend. XD

Another I want to say is Jak 2, right at the end

Jak is from the future. He was brought to the past (the first game) to try and be taught the skills needed to defead Metal Kor, the leader of the metal heads. He has also been protecting himself for the whole game, as the little boy with the crocodog and he is thr rightful ruler to the throne of Haven City

Shadow of the Colossus is really good.

By killing the Collossi, you unleash the demon boys with horns, as seen in Ico

That was cool.

And of course, KOTOR has the Video Game equivalent of Luke I am your Father.

KOTOR 2 has a cool twist near the end where you are revealed to by a siphon feeding off of those you kill. Cool way to justify experience points I might say.

I can't see why nobody has mentioned this one before I did. The only plottwist that made me turn of the game out of shear anger and disbelief. It was that awesome. You had to let it sink in.

After all your travels and fighting for his future and that of the world. Turns out the main protagonist is the main ANTAGONIST. After the 'final boss' he turns on you, turns into a mini devil and throws your entire party in a cell. He even becomes a boss fight later on. Great stuff and totally out of the blue.

Gah, I got ninja'd

I nearly shat bricks when I came across that twist

I know this probably dosn't seam like a plot twist to you guys, but to me, it kinda did.

Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires: Lu Bu joins me one month, I start a battle to gain land, he defects to the enemy, I win the land, a couple months latter he joins again, and then I go to battle, and again he switches sides.
