I don't think a Bioware/Behesda game would necessarily be good idea. They make games that are almost polar opposite of each other in gameplay. besides that, I would say that Bioware writing is hit and miss at best. They just keep on slapping on more retcons and plot holes each to each new game. Their dialogue can be good, but everything else is only above average at best, and for the most part (barring Jade Empire, which has its own problems)the 'original' settings that they have come up with far (Mass Effect, Dragon Age) have been painfully generic. I honestly think that a game made by the two would be very, very bad.

So an RPG with meh dialogue, characters who are cliche planks of wood, mostly linear gameplay with some exploration, a ton of romance sidequests, and poorly done combat that's a breeze?

SOUNDS LIKE THE GREATEST GAME EVER!
yep that's what I'd put my money on. I actually think it would look a lot like fable 3 in being a strange open-world of linear paths, really strange and overbearingly emotive npc's, the more produced and less organic feel to the art, constant romance & fetch based quests with no real benefit, but without jumping and stiffer combat.

basically that^^

although some Bioware input in the world would be awesome. I love how detailed the Mass Effect world is

No, because I never want Bethesda to work on a Fallout game ever again.
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT? Fallout 3 was better than New Vegas!
May I visit that planet you are on? It sounds like a very nice place. The environment was arguably slightly better. As for the rest... that planet of yours must be a wonderful place with natural LSD geysers, because most people would not, even objectively, agree with that.

I would love to have my character from oblivion meet up with my shepard and fight/commit crimes across the galaxy.

Two different styles of writting, with two different gameplay styles. No, it will not be best game ever. That's already been released by Nintendo and it's called Animal Crossing. If it's going to be a Fallout game, I'm sure as hell not going to enjoy it if the guys who made mass effect are in with it.

OT: I think it would be cool since I believe that some members of Bethesda and Bioware used to word together in a company, I may be mistaken, and if Bioware could immerse you with the story while Bethesda immerses you with the world it would be awesome.

Lock the main design and dev teams of the two companies in a room, and wait until they come to an agreement. For the good of gamers everywhere.

While I do't agree with the game idea that you have. I would love if the two studios came together and made a game like that. And for me I'd love to see Kojima and Bungie do a game together. I know strange ix, but I have a feeling it would be pretty cool.

Um, no? Because Bethesda sucks?

Ok ok, just my opinion. It's just... Even when Bioware games have their bad moments, they're at least engaging (like that shitty episode of your favorite sci-fi show, you watch it because you love the characters).

I just can't see epic, polished tails of saving the world in a whirlwind of character-driven heroics mixing well with hideous, lonely, glitchy, bottle-cap collecting simulators.

Again, my opinion...

BULLLLLLLSHIIIIIIIIIITTTTT! Realpolitik vs. 'Here are monsters, they will eat you'? The open desert vs. sewer #87? Guns that work like guns vs. energy weapons with invisible lasers? Howard Hughes vs. Liam Neeson? Contrived ending that infuriates everyone vs. 'Yes Man, throw Gen. Oliver off the Dam'? I think it's obvious what side I'm on.

I'd say Obsidian+Bioware, but...

No. Because both developers make games which are average at best (bar KoToR).

I don't want to see the ultimate average rpg ever made thanks.

Bethesda games mark, for me at least, the highest level of immersion. This is best felt when you are wandering the Wastes\Tamriel. The open world environment's that Bethesda makes are gorgeous, even when it's literally a nuclear wasteland. The gameplay is also quite good, the ability to attack and kill anyone rather than only fight when the game tells you its time is preferable in my opinion.
Bioware has done all this.

Baldur's Gate featured easily very similar gameplay to all you've described and was heavily immersive. It just wasn't open world.

You could kill anyone in the world, the original Fallout was the same. It's not a new concept.

best single-player game, perhaps. i wouldnt call anything the "greatest game ever" unless it has both superb single-player and multiplayer aspects. personally, i would choose BioWare, Bethesda, Irrational, Bungie, DICE. the first three would be for an incredible single-player experience, and the last two for multiplayer and fluid gameplay.
