If you played Fallout 3 while on acid maybe.

combining Bethesda and Bioware is like combining apples and oranges to make apple-orange juice. they are good seperately, but won't mix well, as they are very different

Wouldn't mind Obsidian and Bethesda, if they did a good amount of bugtesting.

I mean, New Vegas was great, and that was simply using their engine. If Bethesda did the actual level design and art, while Obsidian did the writing, choice and world building, I'd probably never stop playing that game. Ever.

Even if was the buggiest game ever made.

I'm hoping Fallout 4 is that but I honestly doubt it.

If you consider the amount of repetition of Dragon Age 2 and Oblivion enviroments, you have the potential for the least and most annoying immersive game ever. That's the worst case scenario.

You know that joke with Albert Einstein and Marylin Monroe in it?

Kind of like the same thing: what makes you think only their best attributes will appear in the final product?

No, now Bethsoft + Volition could make the best game ever in my opinion.

A fantasy game set in the Saint's Row/Red Faction universe (they technically are set in the same universe) with magic, and guns, and myth creatures, and gangs, and EDF, and whatthehell; a couple of frost giants. Also, they would need the creativity of both teams to make sense out of that shit.

Only if Bethesda did the world and gameplay, And Bioware did the stories and dialogue.

Sure, it sounds good on paper, but im sure their would be enough complications to make it sub-par

If this happen in a perfect world, this game would be on par with Silent Hill 2, Ocarina of Time, and Persona 4 as the best game ever. But as movie bob has pointed out, we live in a shitty world

Woah, that piece seriously needed some editing. Either way, I don't think you'd want to make it a Fallout game. I'd start off with something fresh, something that both parties could contribute to equally, rather than one holding the property rights over the other.
And then I suppose it could work, but it wouldn't be the "best game ever". "Best RPG ever"? Who knows; yeah, maybe. But for it to be the best game ever you'd need to get some of Valve's team in the mix.

Well let's see...

Bethesda
- shit dialogue
- characters are planks of wood
- open world gameplay
- side quests, side quests everywhere
- lousy combat

Bioware
- good dialogue
- characters are cliche but interesting
- linear gameplay
- romance paths, romance paths everywhere
- easy combat

So an RPG with meh dialogue, characters who are cliche planks of wood, mostly linear gameplay with some exploration, a ton of romance sidequests, and poorly done combat that's a breeze?

SOUNDS LIKE THE GREATEST GAME EVER!
How about we just take the good from each of these?

You seem to be picking the worst qualities from each. That isn't how they would collaborate ideally. I think best case scenario, it would have good dialogue, interesting characters, somewhat open-world gameplay, tons of sidequests, and decent (not great) combat. Also the story would be quite good thanks to Bioware.

Edit: I just noticed someone above me said pretty much the exact same thing, sorry.

I certainly don't want any Bethesda in my BioWare games. For me they are perfect enough and I have yet to play a Bethesda game I like or even consider being above mediocre.

You can't always have your cake and eat it too. If Bethesda and Bioware were to work together there would have to be trade offs. Bioware games don't really let you do much outside of the main story and character building and that is necessary to making those features so good. Adding in the open world of Bethesda games with all the side quests would take away from BioWare, or you'd have to take away Bethesda. For the immersion breaking flaws of of Bethesda the fix would be a larger budget and better technique for making bug free open world games.

Eidos, and its many bastard children, can also hold water in any argument about developers. They've also proven to make good open world games (Just Cause 2 and, if you consider it to be one, Deus Ex: Human Revolution) with good(ish, in the case of Just Cause 2) to great stories. While I'm not sure what they were in relation to Arkham Asylum, they do have ties to it, and I consider that to be in my top 5 games on all counts (story, gameplay, atmosphere, etc). Eidos might've only been publisher for that, so it might not count.

Whether or not Thief 4 will be a great game or a great big dump remains to be seen.
