That's fucked up!

i mean to see how much Individualism/egoism/lack of brotherhood there was in there... i can't believe how young kids can even think of doing this, i guess they must copy what they see without the knowledge of their parents or worst, maybe their parents don't care much about them... who knows.

Well besides the fact he's likely to have an ironic fate (get stabbed in prison) if he makes it out of jail, he'll need therapy and the worlds LEAST stimulating job available.

5 Years? Anyone who murders family (or anyone, for that matter) over a gaming console is seriously unstable. He should be either jailed or institutionalized for at least 15 years.

Five years? What a fucking joke. How about 20?
Because the only country that seems to hold people responsible for their actions is the U.S. Seriously, I've seen murder sentences in Europe that were shorter than this.
While I agree that allot of sentences criminals in Europe get are sometimes far too light, I think its the other way around in the US. No offense, but allot of your sentences are just plain bullshit as well and are WAY to harsh to be even remotely fair.
For violent crimes, they sometimes aren't tough enough. For non-violent crimes we are way too draconian. I'm tired of seeing a guy get 5 years for having a damn twenty sack because of a mandatory minimum. Judges have little to no discretion in sentencing now in the U.S. and it's ridiculous.

As for the kid and the death penalty, 5 years isn't harsh enough. He isn't going to learn anything about being a normal human being in prison. When he gets out he's going to either go back to crime or go on government assistance for the rest of his life. There are no jobs for violent felons that didn't graduate high school. Death penalty may be too harsh, but it may be the more merciful option. The rest of this kids life is already over.

And scream criminal rehabilitation all you want, there is no way to rehabilitate a criminal. A criminal either committed the crime out of need, or they did it because they are miswired in their heads. The miswiring isn't going to be fixed by putting them with a bunch of other people that are miswired in the same way, and by making him a felon you have increased the need for them to commit crimes once they are released from prison.

Totally agree with you there. He should get the book thrown at him. Multiple times.

Well he's obviously insane, so the options are either;
A) Death

or

B) Life long rehab.

EDIT: GONE GONZO!

Seriously, what is the world coming too. Guy kills his brother simply for turing on / playing his PS3. Its tragic, but at least they didnt blame it on the fact he plays games.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with killing his brother in a fight over a PlayStation, Chilean Police said.

Police said the younger boy was angered when his 18-year-old brother turned on the game console without his permission. He then grabbed a knife and stabbed him. Police said the youth told them that "things got out of control".

The teenager could face five years in prison.

Homicide investigator Gilberto Opazo said the brothers had been abandoned by their mother and spent 10 years as wards of the state before a Belgian woman named Valerie Michael took them in. She was visiting Belgium when the killing happened.

Fuck... I hope the little prick gets ten years at least.
It wasn't an accident... You pick up a fucking knife, you intend to severely hurt someone.
If that's not homicide, I don't know what is.

Only five years, I think 16 may be of the right age to be charged as an adult for crimes like murder.
