I completely agree with you, but I think that the DUI thing was a cover up I bet that they got in a fight and he stabbed his mother but for fear of losing her son she said that he was trying to do a good thing for her.Wolfram01 said:I just saw this article on my home page:

So, what's up with that? I think the kid has his heart in the right place - that is, to try and prevent drunk driving -
Is it bad that was my first thought, too?Lord_Panzer said:Right? Wrong? Who gives a shit? That's a helluva shot to make with a kitchen knife.
Beginners luck can be a real ***** sometimes XDEcher123 said:I'm surprised he was able to throw a knife in the first place.
You can't just toss any old kitchen knife and expect it to hit point first, especially at someone running.
That deserves 42 points of awesome.somedarnguy said:So ten out of ten for style, but minus several million for good thinking, yeah?

You sir have made the bast case for this kid. Who i am looking at as a hero for knowing his mom could hurt someone and stoped it. I just hope the mothers condishion doesn't get worse or he would be in alot of trouble.Chris P Bacon said:It could be he had little other choice. Stabbing her in the right place is guaranteed to not kill her, but if she got in an automobile drunk, she could have very easily killed a child, another motorist, or an entire family on the road even mere blocks from their house, before police would arrive to try to find the car and its license plate number.
You can't reason or rationalize with a drunk person, especially a self-centered one that wouldn't even listen if sober.
Stabbing is safer than bludgeoning or anesthetizing with drugs too, maybe next time he should get a tazer; but since he probably didn't have one, a shallow cut with a disinfected blade would certainly get across the point.
I completely agree. Things that work well in the military do not necessarily translate over into the 'real world.' However, I think SadisticDarkling has a point about this being a few bad circumstances (or choices in this case) happening at one moment to make an even larger bad circumstance. The Cake Is Annoying said:Whilst I think this is sensible and effective advice for the Marine corps, and can see the parallels between the situations, I think it cannot be smoothly implemented amongst civies.
Largely because panicking 14 year old boys and drunken mothers are generally as dumb as mud.
Hey, with this kid's methodology, at least he didn't rig the car with a bomb.WanderFreak said:What'd he follow up with, shooting someone in the stomach to stop their overeating?
I played a Chaotic-Chaotic rouge, myself. Wanna argue if that exists? 'Coz I will light this ***** up. *holds Molotov Cocktail* But only to prevent a flame war, of course. I'd never blow something up for no reason...Aedwynn said:Reminds me of a 'Lawful-Stupid' Paladin I used to play D&D with...
And that would be okay, you would be forced to go relatively slow with four flats. Then again, she'd still be drunk, so there is the chance she'd be going lane-to-lane and get hit.HG131 said:You can drive with flats.
Yeah. A lot of bad choices probably were made that will fall outside of the scope of any investigation. Probably a lot of small and, on their own, completely harmless things. This frames it like it was some action sequence from a film instead of something that could similarly happen to anybody who has family, which is tragic. These people should be treated with some degree of empathy instead of a freakshow.FrossetMareritt said:I completely agree. I'm with these guys. I'm guessing most of this is because it was a knife and she had to go to the hospital. What would have happened if he just tackled her or maybe took her leg out?MissGinaKid said:You sir have made the bast case for this kid.
