Haros Station: Commander's Office: David West and Co.

"You can stay here for the view or just to chat with me, I don't mind. By the way, it will take at least three hours to fill your ship up. What you do with your time is up to you."

David was more concerned about this rescue mission possibly turning into some diplomatic mission, something, if that "Space Invaders" game on his Tablet back on the ship was any indication, that he was NOT trained for.
"..."
He was about to speak up in protest, but Natasha was quick enough to pick up on that point for him.

"This was already a mission with a lot of unknowns, and now, in light of recent intelligence, the potential danger is higher than ever. I'm all for going as quickly as possible, but is HQ wise to keep sending us into Who Knows What one ship at a time? Would not a larger scale mission be wiser? At least then, there's a bigger chance of at least one ship making it back with some solid intel."

"I agree with the Pilot. While I understand the fact that HQ don't want to be seen as an aggressor by sending a small armada, I feel that there is an undue risk in under-selling our capabilities. I'm not saying we are going to go in guns blazing, but this could be the most interaction we would have with extra-terrestrials in history. I don't think this mission is prepared for it. No Offense." He bluntly said, kinda hoping he could get out of this mission.
If a war with Aliens broke out, he wouldn't want to be the one who would go down in the history books as the guy who started it.

S.S. Juliet | Food Preparation and Consumption Centre

"Android! Halt! Stop tampering with our rations!" Came an order behind ARK as it attempted to recreate what its SK module informed the Synth as being designated as a Crepe Suzette, which was a difficult task given that none of the items listed in the component list could be found in the ship's manifest. To further throw the Synth into an infinite loop of confusion, the cooking SK Module demanded that the components for the Crepe Suzette have been harvested within the last 24 standard Earth Hours. The probability of the items that were aboard the S.S. Juliet of fitting the criteria were
Code:
highly improbable
.

"GAAAAAH!!!" ARK outputted loudly, its shoulders slumping in defeat as it followed the orders of
Code:
Yukino Lee, Security Officer,
before turning around and realizing that ARK had drawn quite the crowd. Scanning the faces of each of the crew members, ARK's sensors recorded various emotions ranging from curiosity to disappointment to tinges of fear. This was outside of the desired parameters that mission protocols had predefined.

More of the crew members began to theorize exactly what ARK was, which might have bothered the ARK were it capable of being bothered. Instead, it waited, as per its programming for a window of opportunity in which it could engage the crew members in vocal communication.

The window did not appear, however, as a number of the crew members of the S.S. Juliet initiated an ad-hoc Mission Briefing.

[hr]

Mission Briefing

For the majority of the briefing, ARK maintained its silence, content on designating a minimal amount of Processing Cycles towards the briefing. While the S.S. Juliet was integral to ARK's mission, the ship's mission was of importance only when it overlapped with ARK's own. There were a few queries regarding ARK's own functions and hypotheses that the Synth would have addressed were the opportunity to arise. And yet, as it was previously, the proper window to initiate conversation did not appear.

Code:
==============================
>>Unable to initiate conversation with Crew of S.S. Juliet

"If our mission goes smoothly, it's another pair of hands and a neutral observation party... however if it doesn't, well I can see how a contingency plan is always nice."

Code:
"If this unit may interject."
ARK stated in its default vocalization, a monotone and neutral voice devoid of emotion.

Code:
"The Primary listed function of this unit aboard the S.S. Juliet is to ensure the safety of the crew and, secondarilym success of the S.S. Juliet's mission. This Unit is capable of fulfilling any role aboard the S.S. Juliet if the primary designee is incapacitate. This Unit's tertiary function, as has already been stated, is to record interaction between this unit and the crew members of the S.S. Juliet for use in production models for which this unit is a prototype.
ARK stated before turning its facial plate towards Dr. Nikolai Chervenkov.

Code:
"To answer your previous query, This Unit is Stellar Aeronautic's Synthetic Humanoid Prototype, Designation R.K. This Unit have been fashioned in this manner as a cost saving measure and it is the unfortunate duty of This Unit to inform you that is does not have simulated copulation functions. Your interest in such has been noted and will be added to This Unit's finalized daily report."

"At least then, there's a bigger chance of at least one ship making it back with some solid intel."

"Ships like the Juliet and the Elijah aren't cheap let alone able to be reproduced at quick speed obviously. From the after action reports I was able to access, the next ship that Earth can launch is in two months. More specifically the S.S. Ulysses an older ship but a ship nonetheless. HQ is doing its best to expedite the repairs from its problems during re-entry but still, they are all looking to the Juliet to investigate what happened to Elijah. These aren't my orders, I'm sorry."

"Say, what have you found here lately? And what is that android thing? Does it understand any languages other than English?"

"Or is it purely their for experimental and observational purposes?"

Farver looked to her science desk, looking through some information once more.

"Well... mostly more ice on Europa sadly. Seems like nothing could really survive beneath its icy surface. The Chinese science team broke at least 12 drills trying to reach the subsurface. At least they found a new type of metal. Speaking of metal, your android crew member came pre-loaded with its own set of parameters but none of which seemed to interfere with the mission. The purpose he mostly serves is collecting information and data of crew interactions so its company can better create an A.I. that can successfully talk to people. As for its multi-lingual abilities, you might have to ask it for yourself." Farver said with a hint of teasing. She noted the cyborg that had entered the room but didn't say anything to her.

"I'm not saying we are going to go in guns blazing, but this could be the most interaction we would have with extra-terrestrials in history. I don't think this mission is prepared for it. No Offense."

"Sadly, I wasn't part of that decision to send your crew to the Kuiper cliff so I wasn't a member of their decision making but I have faith that they made all the necessary decisions to launch the mission. Having another message sent out was undeniably the timing of things. I don't mean to be blunt but if any extraterrestrial life existed out there then I doubt that its primary objective was the elimination of other life in the galaxy otherwise they would done just that by now." Farver said with barely a hint of emotion clinging to the last sentence. "But that's just my opinion."

"Anything else?"

=========================================================================================

Walt was busy finishing his steak when a few more members arrived with one of them being a cyborg. He was on his way out of the kitchen when he heard the cyborg speak out.

"Can someone help me find a blender or something please?"

Walt doubled back to the cyborg astronaut.

"I think we have one here somewhere..." He said, rummaging through various containers before finally finding one. "Here ya go, miss. We usually use this when we need protein shakes. Say, I don't think I caught your name. My name's Walt, and yours?" Walt said, trying not to look at the android's orifice.

"Oh god," Nikolai muttered, not sure whether nor not to be embarrassed, or angry. He went for something in-between. "I did NOT request such a thing. No. Not at all. I said you looked like a half-finished one, I was wondering what the hell you were. It was a joke." Well, it hadn't been as much of a joke as an actual insult, but he wasn't letting it find out that. "Do NOT write anything like this in a report."

Still, for it even to pick up at that showed two things. 1. It understood Bulgarian, and 2. It was even more creepy now. He had seen the woman who worked with drones enter the room right before, Cui Yifie, before leaving again. Nikolai went to find her, hoping he could talk her into doing something about that thing, perhaps after docking. Like it was now, it was clearly a danger. If nothing else, it was endangering his mental health.

I feel dizzy.

That too. As much as he wanted to look around, Nikolai wondered if he should just lie down instead, he had gotten too worked up, and ended up feeling like the room was spinning. He noticed that Yifie was in the room where they had eaten steak, asking for a blender, and approached her. Even if he was surprised, and a bit shocked, to see what was underneath the helmet, it was better than facing that... thing. "Hey, Cui? I mean... ehm. Yifie." Was it miss or mrs? Either would be assuming, right? This was why he preferred first names. "The robot the headquarters sent is freaky, can you do something about it?" He then noticed Walt. "Also, hi again."

"A mission like this really seems like a terrible place to be testing prototype technology," Emerson replied "It's a risky enough mission without adding experimental technology to the mix, especially considering that the technology has no relevance to our mission."

He examined the robot's humanoid stature and rather off putting appearance, whose idea was it to wrap the thing in vinyl? No wonder Dr. Chervenkov joked that it might be a sex toy, judging from what he said in response to it at least. I've read papers about the uncanny valley but it looks like whoever designed this thing hadn't so much as heard of the term. Really improving the appearance would be the first step any sane engineer would make when trying for something built for human interaction. I also rather doubt its claim to be able to replace any of us, I know from reading up on cybernetics that simple motor functions alone took forever to replicate, nevermind the complex instincts, knowledge, experience, and skills required for any one of this crew's tasks.

He turned back to the commander "I hope my reservations about it are noted," he said "I'm not a roboticist, or a sociologist, but it seems to me testing interaction could be just as easily served on a repair mission or something similarly less risky."

"See, I understand that, but I implore you to reconsider!" David said with a tone of urgency, clearly not at all a fan of how this conversation was going.
"If this is truly our first meeting with Those from First Contact, then we need a team trained for it, not just the first handful of people we could shove at them. My responsibility is to the safety of this ship, but I am not afraid to say that I don't deserve the responsibility of being an envoy for the entire Human Race and neither does anyone else on this mission." He insisted, hoping to sway the commander, even a little.
Humanity's future hung in the balance depending on how this mission went and he knew deep down he wasn't the one supposed to make that meeting.

"These aren't my orders, I'm sorry."

"Understood." Natasha responded. She wouldn't pretend she was entirely happy with the answer, but this was the hand they'd been dealt and there was no use arguing it now, a fact not everybody was willing to accept...

"I don't deserve the responsibility of being an envoy for the entire Human Race and neither does anyone else on this mission."

Natasha shot David a sideways glance, eyebrow raised.

'Speak for yourself.'

"Will still don't have any hard evidence for what we're dealing with yet." she reminded him "Let's not get carried away. We're small, we're unassuming, and we're fast. Right now that makes us as close to what's needed as we're likely to get. More formal envoys, if they're needed, can wait until after we know for sure exactly what is out there."

"Here ya go, miss. We usually use this when we need protein shakes. Say, I don't think I caught your name. My name's Walt, and yours?"

Cui pranced over excitedly, plate in one hand and knife in the other. She stared at the device and then at her plate, her cheeks raised slightly and her eyes shut as she pushed everything on the plate into the blender with the knife, popping down the lid and placing the dishes on a bench near some other plates that seemed yet to be sorted.
"My name is Cui Yifie, but if that's too difficult to remember, feel free to call me 'Oh God what is with your face?', when people get to catch a glimpse of my enchanting portrait I tend to give them a free pass." Cui gave a little laugh as she flicked the blender on, it was surprisingly quiet.

Nikolai entered looking rather pale and confused, no wonder the doc kept harassing him.
"Hey, Cui? I mean... ehm. Yifie."
Cui raised an eyebrow and glanced at the blender, it didn't seem to be having any trouble, just taking it's time. She then looked back at Walt wondering what he'd look like with a cowboy hat on, probably good. Cui shook her head a little and turned to Nikolai.
"I don't mind what you call me, just don't call me late to dinner." Cui chuckled and gave Walt a little nudge with her elbow. "In all seriousness, everything alright? I doubt your current state is due to love at first sight." Cui lifted a metal skeletal hand to where her chin should have been and let out another laugh. "Although if Texan guys are your thing..." Cui continued to giggle and wiped under her eyes with a finger. She was in a rather good mood due to the food and also because Walt's initial reaction to her face was fairly refreshing. Cui straightened up and began preparing her meal while talking.
"Teasing aside, please continue." Cui gave a little nod as she transferred the liquified contents into a large cup probably used for the station crew's protein shakes.

"The robot the headquarters sent is freaky, can you do something about it?"
Cui gave a little sigh as she reached unzipped the neck and upper torso of her uniform and slid a hand into her top and then what must have been her bra or an inner pocket in her clothing. She gave a little yelp and blushed.
"Cold hands, beats losing one of these though." Cui whipped out a little metal tube like object, using the fingers of one hand to delicately extend it. She stuck it into the lower synthetic portion of her face and placed the other end in her meal. Holding the drink in one hand and doing up her zip with the other, Cui continued to speak.
"My vocal assets aren't tied in with my digestive system, so unless you think it's rude to talk while eating, I'll just say this." Cui's face, or rather her eyes seemed to turn a little serious.
"The most recent addition to our crew seems to be a restrained A.I. It's apparently independent with it's intelligence and yet seems to depend on programming and follow certain restrictions. So if your worry is about it going berserk, my intuition says it doesn't have the capability." Cui reached in-between her legs, taking hold of her headcase. She then sat down and sat it on the table.
"I doubt I'd have the clearance to look in it's head though, well, wherever it's central processor and such is." Cui gave a little shrug. "We get an android last second after discovering we may have the opportunity to make first contact. If you think that's a coincidence, well, I don't." Cui then gave Nikolai a rather stern look, she wasn't mucking around. "If I'm given clearance to give you all a little peace of mind, I'll have a look at the android, maybe with you and the engineer."

Cui finished with her cup and quickly slid her little straw nicknack into a pocket on her uniform near her waist, after all she had to clean it. "I think the more pressing issue is the potential alien presence. The broken sun is a total unknown anomaly. It has put Human lives in danger. I'll put all my effort into completing ALL of my current objectives, only then will I focus on our space neighbor radio hosts."
Cui hoped she'd sidetracked Nikolai's mind enough so the doctor could get a decent look at him. He seemed too easily bothered. He wouldn't normally have been a primary asset, but the very nature of the broken sun was beyond Cui's expertise. Maybe it was getting to him, maybe he was just a synth'phobe. Although he did run to her, so she doubted it.
"You seem a little stressed, if you need to talk to someone, consider me open." She then gave another one of her cheeky smiles as she pulled her headcase down and began fastening and clamping it down.
"If I'm sleeping though you better have a decent reason or I'll make you wash my limbs with your toothbrush."

Cui crossed her legs and and waited to see if either of the men had something else to say. After all she didn't really have anything else to do and she had time to spend.

"I don't mind what you call me, just don't call me late to dinner. In all seriousness, everything alright? I doubt your current state is due to love at first sight. Although if Texan guys are your thing..."

"Ah, honestly, the accent is kind of a deal-breaker," Nikolai remarked, and glanced over at Walt. "No offense." It seemed Cui had been joking, but Nikolai thought it might be interesting seeing how she reacted, if she reacted at all, to him answering seriously. After all, some people got surprised when he mentioned he was into guys, others seemed to already be aware of it without him saying anything. He examined her further, albeit she certainly didn't look normal underneath that helmet of hers, there was something that was very different from the robot. Something very human. It put him at ease, rather than unsettling him.

"The most recent addition to our crew seems to be a restrained A.I. It's apparently independent with it's intelligence and yet seems to depend on programming and follow certain restrictions. So if your worry is about it going berserk, my intuition says it doesn't have the capability."

"That's somewhat of a relief, although it's still creepy. And, it knows my native language..."

He wasn't sure why that was so very off-putting. However, Nikolai added; "And it already picked up on something I should not have said because of that. Not to mention, I talk in my sleep, and what I say is rather private."

Nikolai had no reason to hide that, it wasn't as if Cui would understand what he was saying should he talk in his sleep, not unless she too spoke Bulgarian. Cui continued, changing the topic slightly.

"I doubt I'd have the clearance to look in it's head though, well, wherever it's central processor and such is. We get an android last second after discovering we may have the opportunity to make first contact. If you think that's a coincidence, well, I don't. If I'm given clearance to give you all a little peace of mind, I'll have a look at the android, maybe with you and the engineer."

Nikolai nodded. "Yeah, I don't think so either. Just what they're thinking is beyond me, though. And, should it be possible, I'd very much like to know just what the android can do, and where it is limited. Not to mention, to what degree it knows boundaries, ethical and personal."

And physical.

"I think the more pressing issue is the potential alien presence. The broken sun is a total unknown anomaly. It has put Human lives in danger. I'll put all my effort into completing ALL of my current objectives, only then will I focus on our space neighbor radio hosts."

As Cui spoke, Nikolai found himself realizing just how much people worried, and, alternately, how much he should be worrying about everything but the robot. However, his job was to take care of the samples and lab, Nikolai spending all his time thinking about potential dangers and such wasn't needed. And, perhaps, him being more optimistic about it could make the others more at ease. However, right now, Cui had picked up on how little at ease he himself was at the moment.

"You seem a little stressed, if you need to talk to someone, consider me open. If I'm sleeping though you better have a decent reason or I'll make you wash my limbs with your toothbrush."

"Ah, no, not as much stressed as a little bit of feeling dizzy, and the fact that the robot had the nerve to assume that I wanted to use it for... you know." He gestured with his hands, making it clear that he was talking about sex. "It said it would submit a report on it!" Nikolai then sighed, before smiling a somewhat cheerful smile. "Talking is good though. We've got quite a lot of spare time, and so far, you're the only one who has been friendly. Elliot especially is being a jerk, his jokes are terrible and rude." He put a hand on his forehead, trying to make the room stop moving. "So, what are you planning to do when we're docked?"

"More formal envoys, if they're needed, can wait until after we know for sure exactly what is out there."

"Your pilot is right." Farver said, glaring at David. "None of us is completely sure what is out there. Up until now, we've been looking past our universe for answers and perhaps now what is beyond there can solve them. I would do anything for an opportunity like that." Farver sighed. "But now that is your mission and not mine."

"I'm not a roboticist, or a sociologist, but it seems to me testing interaction could be just as easily served on a repair mission or something similarly less risky."

"The company that had put the android on your ship is one of the main companies that helped with our progression into space. I read through their backgrounds and their ties into the space program are deep. If it wasn't for the anti-matter engines then I would take a guess that a number of our operations would have been operated by your friend here." Farver motioned to the android. "I'm not their spokesperson but I have a few guesses as to why they sent it aboard such a risky mission. One of them being that they would like to record human beings in times of pure sincerity which would be in otherwise dangerous situations. Us human beings have an uncanny trait of revealing emotions in high stress situations and one of their main objectives is to record human emotion for better androids. What place is better to see human emotions at play than where it actually counts? But then again, its just a guess." Farver said.

==========================================================================================

After the trouble with the android was finished, Yukino drifted to Haros station. She relished the view of space in the vent that connected the Juliet and the station. It was sights like this that made her glad that she was an astronaut. By the time she entered, she was at the tail end of Commander Farver's speech which displeased Yukino. She missed a major part of what Farver had to say and Yukino knew that Farver was an acquaintance of her father. Still, that left her in an awkward situation. With no other choices, she went to where Yiffie and Nikolai were alongside another astronaut presumably a member of Haros station.

"Hey." Yukino said, finding a spot in the tight quarters. "What did I miss?"

Turning to face the Pilot of their ship, David backed up his point with "And if this goes bad, then what? The damage will already be done and it'd take a lot more then an envoy to fix it. I know it was our goal to find out what happened at First Contact, but we need to be careful about it."
He began to wipe his brow, it seemed this whole topic was making him rather uneasy.
"Look...Just think they could send a more specialized unit. One that is better prepared for both a positive and negative reaction from the Aliens if they are there."

This explanation didn't satisfy Emerson, if an AI was being designed for social interaction then the test would be better on a more common situation in Emerson's opinion, particularly since it might get in the way during a dangerous situation. Then again it didn't really matter what the explanation for it was, or how well its presence had been thought through, it seemed they were stuck with it for now.

He shrugged and turned to leave, heading back to join the others. At least he doubted the thing would be his responsibility, after all it seemed more likely the drone specialist or the ships engineer would be left in charge of the machine.

He saw Cui and Dr. Chervenkov sitting together speaking and moved to join them "Hello, did I miss any juicy gossip?" he remarked dryly as he sat down.

The update had been triggered via a timer that had been set prior to the Synth being deployed to Haros Station. During the rush to ship the Artificial Construct to the Orbital Refueling Station, many of the machine's functions had remained disabled state until updated driver modules could be written.

Detaching itself from the remainder of the crew, ARK floated to the communications Hub, located near the bridge. According to its scan of the Communications interface, the Laser Link Communications Array functioned via a series of laser pulses sent between the ship and Earth. The advantage with this mode of communication was the speed and reliability at which data was allowed to flow between the two sources was magnitudes greater than with radio transmissions. The disadvantage with this mode of communication was the requirement of Line of Sight with Earth.

Interfacing with the communications hub, ARK checked predicted telemetry within the Asteroid Belt, ensuring that a minimal two hour window would be available for the download of data. With ideal conditions confirmed, ARK commenced communications with Stellar Aeronautics Central.

Natasha gritted her teeth, and rubbed her forehead in exasperation.

"Haven't you been listening? I don't like the situation either, but there is no-one else! It's still possible that the crew of the S.S. Elijah are still alive. With that in mind, do you really want to be the guy who argued that they'd rather wait months for Earth to send a fleet? Yes, it's scary, but we're in space David, things are already scary. So, if things do go bad, what you do is you strap yourself in, shut up, and thank whatever God you hold that I'm the one flying the damn ship, because that's what's going to get your arse back home in one piece.

Now, are we done here?"

After Yifie went into Haros station Northfleet continued to watch the A.I. for a little while longer before it floated off to somewhere that he didn't care about. He then finally decided to make his way into Haros station. He decided that it would be best to report to the commander of the station immediately. With that in mind he made his way over to where Yifie, Nikolai, Yukino, Emerson, and some other fellow were conversing.

He took a seat beside Yifie and began eating what was presumably his food.

"Looks like the whole gang is here...besides some of us." He said smiling. "Hey Yukino, could you give those of us who were absent a quick summary of the briefing?" He asked as he continued to eat. "Oh, and Emerson, any medical problems I should be aware of?" He asked. He wasn't actually interested in any of these things, he was just trying to make conversation with his crew mates.

"Oh, and Emerson, any medical problems I should be aware of?"

Emerson considered this for a moment "Dr. Chervenkov is a bit behind on his physical training at the moment, but should be able to recover if he sticks to the regimen, and I intend to make sure that he does," he said "Other than that there are no issues that I've found."

He glanced at Dr. Chervenkov, the man might be offended by him mentioning this but it was a matter that concerned the entire crew in Emerson's opinion. Certainly making sure the others were aware of the problem would make the matter more pressing in Dr. Chervenkov's mind.

"Talking is good though. We've got quite a lot of spare time, and so far, you're the only one who has been friendly. Elliot especially is being a jerk, his jokes are terrible and rude." Nikolai seemed a little ill, as if he had a headache. "So, what are you planning to do when we're docked?"

Cui nodded at Nikolai, musing over what he had said. "Honestly? I'd love a shower or a bath, as for your issue..."
Cui was thinking of what to say for a moment when the room started to fill in a bit with Yukino, Emmerson and Northfleet.
Yukino came in with a fairly casual "Hey." followed by "What did I miss?"
The cyborg just shrugged, followed up with a fairly cheery "Not much, we're thinking about asking the captain if we could look in the android." She faced the everyone for a brief moment from her chair to indicate she wanted their opinions. "What do you all think?"

Cui decided to leave Emmerson and Northfleet's little exchange be to see how Nikolai would react to the constant attention he was receiving. Everyone seemed to want to have a chat and Cui was happy to wait for a response. She had nothing to say on exercise because all she really needed to do was stretch her neck, torso and waist.

"Honestly? I'd love a shower or a bath, as for your issue..."

"Hm, that's a good point, I'd like a bath too, but there's so many interesting things here, yeah? I'll have to start moving soon if I want to see all of it, even."

He doubted he'd be able to even see half of them. "If you don't mind me asking though, aren't there any problems with bathing for you?" Honestly, Cui seemed to be his kind of person, not terribly irresponsible and hardworking, but with a fair determination to enjoy herself as well. Hopefully, she wouldn't take his question wrong, although he probably sounded rather ignorant for asking. Before Cui got the chance to answer, Emerson interfered, and so did one of the security officers.

"Hey. What did I miss?"

"Hello, did I miss any juicy gossip?"

The two asked. To be honest, Nikolai wasn't really in a mood to talk to the doctor, and Cui seemed eager enough to answer. Besides, he had started feeling worse, possibly due to the lack of training as Emerson had informed him of, and he wasn't about to let that guy find out. To make it worse, after several others had arrived, Emerson casually shared this fact with the engineer.

Are you serious...?

Nikolai's body language changed, he was enraged.

"Okay, that's it! Knock it off already! That's none of his business, heck, I told you that it was private! You are undermining my sense of responsibility in front of people not even on our crew, and that's not acceptable!" He then sighed. "Can you please let it go? I told you I'll do something about it, you disrespectful dick."

This time he wasn't even trying to be subtle. He then left, annoyed, hoping that the doctor would leave him alone, and wanting to calm down. It was hardly fitting for a scientist, or an astronaut, to lose their temper to this extent, especially not in front of everyone. However, Nikolai couldn't help it, sometimes he got angry. Perhaps he'd have to apologize formally to the crew later, but for now, he had decided to explore the station, and so he would, doctor, anger, and headache be damned.

Now, are we done here?"

"I assume so." Commander Farver said as she noticed the majority of them leave the room from hearing the impromptu briefing. "Now I have matters to attend to. The refueling will done in a few hours. I suggest you grab some chow and keep yourself busy until you are ready to depart." Fraver saluted them before turning to her tables where she began analyzing data.

"Hey Yukino, could you give those of us who were absent a quick summary of the briefing?"

"From what I could gather, our mission just became a bit more interesting. Apparently we got a message from beyond the Kuiper Cliff, something similar to First Contact albeit shorter."

"What do you all think?"

"I think we should do what the Commander says we do."

"Can you please let it go? I told you I'll do something about it, you disrespectful dick."

Yukino stayed silent at the man's outburst towards the doctor. While it was not kind to reveal personal information to other people, fitness in space is a major issue. She could see where the doctor was coming from but the way he did so left a bitter taste in her mouth. It almost eclipsed what the others were saying prior to Nikolai's reaction. While he huffed and puffed elsewhere, Yukino turned to Dr. Emerson.

"You really didn't need to do that, honestly now." Yukino said, shaking her head.

"What do you all think?"

"Well I think that thing-" Walt was saying before Nikolai's outburst was heard. If it wasn't for the music in the other part of the station then everyone on board would have heard that. Walt felt this conversation descend into the deep depths of awkwardness and decided to leave while he still could.

"I think I need to do some calibrations. If I don't see y'all on the way out then good luck on your mission!" Walt said as he squeezed his way though and went down as well, passing Nikolai but giving him a pat on the back.

"It's alright, partner." Walt said as he passed by him on the way down to the lower levels of the station.
