And Metallica are the largest ever metal band, and I recall Schafer saying he didn't want to put just the most iconist metal songs, but instead stuff that he really likes and get less attention. i.e they could get Megadeth's Countdown to Extinction album, but not Symphony of Destruction? or no Paranoid, Ace of Spades and The Number Of The Beast? Metallica are way too iconic for the metal world to show up.
And to all the little cunts who enjoy beating Metallica fans: you can hate thier music, I don't care, but why hate on the fans? That's just acting like the exact opposite of what metal stands for. Fuck you.
What? No Metallica? That is a bit disappointing but from I've seen of the set list it's not at all bad. Metallica would make it that extra bit more awesome though.
ok, saying that they are too awesome, like avenged sevenfold... that's just dumb. neither of those bands are "too awesome" for anything. more than likely the band didn't want to sell the rights, or demanded too much money for said rights. and while jack black was willing to literally beg for the rights to use zeppelin's Black Dog in School of Rock, he can't be expected to get the rights to every classic rock and metal icon every time he makes a movie or game. I'm pretty sure than James and Lars will be just as rich without being in this game and I'm very sure this game will be just as epic without their contribution.
And why is everyone so freaking obsessed with Avenged Sevenfold? There are countless better guitarists and vocalists out there. And as far as overall sound, try Rev Theory. They are better. Theory of a Deadman, Hinder, Shinedown, Skillet, Demon Hunter, all better than A7X. Yes I am an A7X fan, don't tell me I'm just dissing a band I don't like. And I've listened to them since their earliest album, so yes I appreciate their music, I just don't think they are as amazing as everyone else seems to think. And honestly, they aren't very good live...

No. No they are not. That honour has to go to one of Maiden, Priest, Sabbath or Motorhead. They are WELL-KNOWN, they have FANS, but no they are not the largest ever metal band. Maiden aren't big fans of licencing their songs (only a handful have appeared in games), and it's quite possible Ozzy and Lemmy didn't want Paranoid and Ace to show up.

Massively Off Topic : There is alot of bitching in this thread, especially aimed at Avenged Sevenfold, which has all been pathetic trolling. If someone loves A7X let them love A7X, they're a decent band with some good songs, better than some but not one of my favourites. But they're not the only ones under fire, alot of aimless negativity for the sake of just having a *****, to establish yourself as some kind of metal savant? Enough of the hate on some decent artists. There are so many better things to hate.
