No Metallica? How dare they!

(It's most likely something to do with GH: Metallica - maybe they have exclusivity of Tallica's music for a while)

maybe beacuse the game is set around like 80s metal rather than newer metal.
Please tell me this post is a joke. Metallica was born in the 80s and most of their albums that metal fans really like were ALL put out in the 80s. Kill 'em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and ...And Justice for All were all put out by '88. I think my brain just tried to escape via my ear because your statement is so silly.

Besides, Megadeth>Metallica.

Metallica is overrated. They're not as good as they used to be and have decided that they're ok with this. They coast by with fans that cling to their old records and nostalgia, hoping beyond hope for a new album that rocks like the days of old. Fun fact: It's never going to happen.

DragonForce is pure anus. They suck and can't play anywhere near as well as they'd have you believe. Before you go all annoying "Speed metal!!!!11!" on me, consider that at their live shows, when they drop a note, you'll never notice. At most of their live shows, when they drop a note, it goes straight to MIDI. Most of their songs are actually done on keyboards. Also, they aren't metal. They're annoying.

Avenged Sevenfold is turbo anus. They are everything that is wrong with modern metal. They make their money by slapping a few halfassed biblical passages into a song, allowing fans to go "Gee, these guys are really deep. You can glean actual stories from their lyrics. They're so cool" Lame. Also, they're posers.

OT: Game really needed more Mastodon and Manowar.
OFT.

Manowar and Mastondon are what this game needs more of.

also no Amon Amarth??

but you can listen to the bands you like while you play the game. We should be complaining about no PC support.

Well Metallica has been working with Activision, Brutal Legend was published by EA I am pretty sure Activision made sure that Double Fine dropped all their lovely Metallica music when they kicked Double Fine out the door.

They are too awesome, like avenged sevenfold, so they're saving it for a sequel to cash in money into the franchise.
It's good to see that even deaf people post on the Escapist.

Because when you have motorhead, judas priest and megadeath you dont need metallica
Amen to that, also if you want metallica then use your ipod while you play, i haven't heard of many of the bands in the game but now i am realizing that most of them crush metallica under their giant boots! also the game rocks xD

Metallica isnt BROOOTAL! While i dont really listen to either band i do think that Megadeath > Metallica all day every day. But at the same time I give my respect to each band for how they have influenced today's metal bands.

[sarcasm]Who woulda thought this would turn into a metallica hate thread?[/sarcasm]

Metallica is kick-ass, they helped invent the metal we know today. No Metallica means no modern metal.

Think their later albums sucked? Go listen to them, and tell us whats so bad. Face it, if anybody BESIDES Metallica released Load, ReLoad, or St. Anger, they would have been a huge hits.

Maybe they realized most hardcore metalheads hate Metallica with a passion. I doubt this is the reason though considering Dragonforce is on it and every metalhead I've ever met considers them overrated and average as hell.
Really? I'm a hardcore metalhead, and obviously I love Metallica. Just because they sold out in the 90s doesn't revoke any of their metal-god status that they EARNED by revolutionizing the genre in the 80s.

This is 100% true. No Metallica means no metal as we know it today.

I'd have to ignore every reply so far and just say...

Because it's one game and they can't fit every good metal band from the 70s and 80s into the game, and what they HAVE got in there is more than we deserve already, so quit moaning :D

I would say however, I don't feel Metallica ever had that truly over the top, edging towards ridiculous feel that some of the metal bands had at the time, They had wonderfully over the top covers to their albums, and their stage shows were an experience, not just ...watching some guys play some music.

Good. Metallica sold out and became posers after And Justice for all. For all those that say the Black album was great; I agree, it was definitely good, but it was not metal, it was closer to hard rock or 80's hair bands.

Metallica ain't in it because it's Metallica. Like Napster, like thinking they're too good for Guitar Hero and Lars insulting and mocking viewers in the video for their official Youtube channel, obviously being totally pissed and butthurt about it, Metallica is too special.

Metallica didn't want to be in it I'll bet. Blame Activision.

Metallica and Activision...a match made in heaven.
