Yeah, the man who I share half my genes with. I also hear it a lot from music snobs. It's BS, I've seen cartoons way more 'mature' than any live action movie or show. Look at Toy Story 3 vs say both Transformer movies.

What is mature or grown up?

I can't say I've ever met someone like that, and if I dd, they didn't make much of an impression. Sure, there's a lot of cartoons on that are specifically aimed at children, no one denying that, but there are plenty of good shows that manage to cater to both young and old (Phineas and Ferb much?).

I didn't know they sold hentai openly in the U.S. I thought that was just a Japan thing! O_O

If I ever meet someone with that mentality I just show them some hentai like Women at Work or something along those lines.

I know hentai =/= cartoons but at the end of the day it's still animation and would lead to some damn funny reactions.

In all seriousness, Family Guy and The Simpsons proves cartoons can be entertaining for adults, and in the case of Family Guy, can be innappropriate for children (not for censorship reasons, but because they wouldn't get the jokes).

Animé also proves that animation can put across a mature storyline. I think Deathnote is one of the most intense TV series of all time. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good thriller.

I frigging love me some cartoons!! Anime, cartoon network, adult swim, whatever, I will watch it!! Ugly Americans is one of my new favs, and I just recently dicovered Spice and Wolf. Pixar and Studio Ghibli are my gods!

I miss the old stuff I used to watch as a kid. Ren And Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, Earthworm Jim, The Tic, Freakazoid to name but a few.

Re-watching them now I realize exactly why I can't see them any more on the networks today, because too many parents are covering their kids in bubble-wrap and never letting them get exposed to reality.

I'm not saying Rocko's Modern Life was "reality" (I'm not insane, honest) I think it's a lot more "real" to have racism, fart jokes and good old fashion off-the-wall craziness in one show instead of something placid and dull like we've got today.

Why do people think Bible Black was that bad?
Hentai like Bondage Game, Ali Maniax and even stuff like Magical Girl Ai are sooooo much worse.

I have had to stop a parent from buying 'devil boy' for their kid, I think I scared them off anime but it's a small price to pay to make sure people respect the ratings. I also had to give my girlfriend strict instructions that fullmetal alchemist and deathnote weren't for her young brother (she kind of got it after that episode where Light...nah, spoilers!)

Though every young kid I know who's seen metalocalypse really liked it.

I'm happy it's changed. There was something unsetteling about the previous one that make me yuck everytime I saw it...
