I also said that they would be ALONE. I never said that they would have more pedophiles than the average society.

As far as homosexuals go, think about prison. When there are no women who gets fucked?
Are you saying that prison and China are the same? Someone's got balls. You have to realise that the prison environment is completely different, and the whole "prison *****" thing is largely a means of the more "dominant" prisoners exerting their influence over the other, weaker prisoners. It's not purely a sex thing.

what do you think of China?
with all the Chinese government has done, how do you view the country
I think of sandstorms in the large cities. No freedom. Total control. Censorship. Way, way too many people. Starvation.

I hate the Chinese government. I REALLY hate the Chinese government. If you see any journalist (CNN, FOX, etc.) go into China to talk to a civilian, they appear to be happy and prosperous. That is because their government tricks/scares them into being happy. Think I sound like too much like a conspiracy theorist? Think of their recent issue with Google, who refused to bow down to their censorship rules, so now their government pulled the plug on them. Look up Tienanmen Square anniversary coverage on YouTube and you'll see plain-clothes police officers harassing reporters with umbrellas. They are a corrupt, fascist government whose people should be liberated (again, unfortunately).

Pardon your ignorance, but where do you get that women don't have rights in China? Me thinks you're confusing your Iran Fox network Propaganda with your Chinese Fox network Propoganda.

I think China is a very beautiful and stunning country. It's actually quite gifted when it comes to it's natural treasures and it's a country of stark contrasts. As the oldest civilization on the planet and certainly one of the largest countries (size & pop) I imagine life is very hard there.
I don't know enough to criticize them harshly, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

I recently went to Hong Kong. They're very nice and accomadating over there and despite the fact that it is a communist country (While I was there there were alot of people rallying for Democracy, IN YOUR FACE IDEALIST!) you don't really get that sense.
Hong Kong is not equal to China.

It is its own port. While technically owned by China, it doesn't necessarily fall under all of China's policies.
That's my basic understanding anyway.

Hong Kong has a system of "One country, two governments". Hong Kong retains its own semi-autonomous government that takes care of social policies, while the central government in Beijing handles all the international affairs.

I wish the cultural revolutions didn't occur (the big one in 1960s China, and the tiny one in 2000s Taiwan). China was the oldest empire, with one of the richest histories and cultures in the world (along with some of the most awesome engineering firms ever). Now, they've fallen back to re-learning Chinese culture from Japan and the West.

I'd like a subtle, somewhat understated set of formal china, and a less formal set of quality stone dinnerware.

*whisper whisper whisper*

Oh, my bad, wrong china. Ummm... they suck, cuz Russians bought up all but 2 wrecking yards in my area, crushed the cars, and shipped the resultant large blocks of metal to China, to be reprocessed. I don't mind that the metal is being recycled, but I WASN'T DONE PLAYING WITH TAKING CARS APART FOR FREE!

You are right. I should have said if women get respected as much as males then...

I've been living in Shanghai, China for over four years now, albeit I haven't experienced the rest of it, or the stark contrast that is the undeveloped countryside, but I still feel I have somewhat of an understanding as to what China is like.

What I hate is the censorship and restrictions on the internet: Google, Facebook, Twitter, Newgrounds, IMDB, parts of wikipedia... the list goes on. It seriously hampers your anti-social life.

What I find a little amusing, is how many Americans view China and the Chinese. A lot of it is in a negative light. I can only hazard a guess that such opinions are derived from media, movies and word-of-mouth, probably not from personal experience.

I'm British, so I'm not too sure about this, but here is my guess... is it because America fears China? I think we all know why. Growing global power, huge debts, etc, etc. American seems to be doing a lot to pull China's face through the dirt, as are its citizens:
- Constantly bringing up China's dark past- (you'll be surprised how many Chinese actually know of the horrible things that have happened here, they are not ignorant.)
- Constantly mocking China's products- before, there was never even a single comment about things made in China (probably 99.9999% of all products are manufactured in China hehe), but all of a sudden, there is media attention to everything made in China. Even movies are mocking China's goods. If you can recall the scene in The Dark Knight, where in court, the failed assassination attempt by a gun made in China is thwarted due to it being faulty "next time, buy American".
- Constantly bashing Communism- you need to experience it yourself before you truly understand it. In the cities you cannot feel it, it's the countryside folk that get the brunt of it. This is the safest I have ever, ever felt in my life. I could expand upon this, but i'd set myself up for arguement.
- Constantly bringing up human rights- Meh... human rights is overrated.. but don't quote me on that haha. I'm sure western countries are having problems with the complete opposite. Ever get the feeling your society is too politically correct? Ever hear the story of the Thief that sued the old woman, because she stabbed him with her umbrella as she defended herself? Ever recoil in horror as your children must sing "baa baa rainbow sheep" because "baa baa black sheep" is deemed racist? How about at Christmas.. I heard it was called "winter holidays" now.. wouldn't want to offend those minorities. Bring political correctness over here and prepare to get laughed at.

Now here is the irony: you ready for it? Chinese people ADORE Americans. Seriously guys, the common Chinese person is in LOVE with you. They worship your rights, they worship your freedom, they worship your personalities, your looks, your skin, fashion, everything!

Since I have been over here, I never hear anything negative about America. It's just praise, praise, praise. (O.K.. the odd comment about being power-hungry and war-mongering, does occasionaly slip out). My point is, I get a little offended and take it personally when I hear all this China-bashing stuff. To be honest, you need to experience it first hand as several of the posters here have.

Everyone is calling them communists but from what people who are actually experts on the subject have told me they're communists in name only. They're more like socialist. So they're like canada.

So what do I think?

China = Canada with older buildings and less mooses.

Everyone on the TV says so when comparing their health care to ours in the USA and apparently, socialism is a bad thing invented by the devil himself.

I'm not an economist but I know countries rarely declare they strictly follow any specific doctrine and most countries are not strictly communist or capitalist and on the spectrum anything between those two is some form of socialism.
Again, not my area of expertise so I could be missing the point horribly.

Lastly: It was a joke brah, don?t worry about it.

Both. Though if I had to explain it it must've been bad one. Sorry, I don't usually bring my 'A' material around at 4:00 AM.

You are right. I should have said if women get respected as much as males then...
Ok, i'm guessing you're about 13...that'd be pretty close to the mark, right?

I'll reply, but it's against my better judgement.

There's a big difference between rights and respect.

Second, the Selective abortions that i'm guessing your comment is refering to, is prevelant in the west of the country where most of the rebelious areas are. The east of china, where there is large multinaitonals and the financail centre of t he country this is not such a prevelant thing. In the east there is more money in jobs that would be considered female orientated (secretarial or office work) than there is in male orientated work (Building, mining et al).
The propenisty for selective abortion happens in the west where farming is the main area of employment, and the one child policy makes choosing a male over a female an obvious choice. The unfortunate truth is that the cities in the east are full of poor western men trying to gain work in the construction industry, where like i said before, the money is at best substandard.

If a global view is cast on the rights and respect of women in china, you would find that women have more rights and respect in China that they have in they majority of the rest of the world. If you consider the section of the worlds population that is muslim, those under Sharia law, And the rights and status of women in Pakistan, India, or Africa. In Nigeria for instance "Vaginal mutilation" is commonplace, but i've yet to see any arguments against that here in the Foar-umz.

China, or "The People's Republic of China" is a new country, and is still finding it's feet on the world stage. During the era of the Bamboo curtain a lot of nasty bad things happened in our own countries while the Chinese closed itself off. I'm sure if we looked under the rock of your own country's recent history we would find a skeleton or two. It is easy to jump on the bandwagon, it's a lot harder to think for yourself.

To quote liberty prime "COMMUNISM IS A TEMPORARY SETBACK ON THE ROAD TO FREEDOM."

In all seriousness Austraila has lots of trade agreements with China so I better watch my mouth
(you never know where they are)
