"I am fine~" she smiled, looking over the colossus again. Amphitrite bore no ill will towards Umbra, as was her custom, but she couldn't say she was as partial to him as she was to the other colossi. Still, there was no reason for her petty preferences to get in the way of peace. "It seems like it is time for the colossi to establish their places in the new millennium again..."

Even from the distance, she could see the Earthfather rise. He had been one of her dearest consorts in the previous cycle, and she wondered whether or not he had come out of the war well enough. She made a mental note to go visit after she finished speaking to Umbra...

Umbra nodded lightly, a small frown appearing for a few brief moments

"Yes, unfortunately it would seem you're right. But toward that end: I have a slight proposition to make. Our powers are rather similar, both rely on a constant ebb and flow and both grow stronger in the night, Though your strength comes from the tides and mine from the darkness I still think we might work well together. So what I propose is simply this: An alliance--Long term or otherwise--frankly I'd rather not fight you unless absolutely necessary but either way the choice is yours."

He said, then took a deep breath, a habit he had picked up from dwelling within the human cities. He didn't actually have lungs...or anything else in the way of internal organs, but it was simply a habit he had picked up.

"I've no wish to fight over dominance over this new cycle. I will go where I am needed. Yet I find that allying myself with too many colossi who all wish to become rulers does not end well either. Large alliances turn against each other, fighting like the very beings we nurture against what can be called kin. I agree to a short-term alliance, but who can tell what will happen after more lines are drawn?"

She drew the small pool closer and sat in the middle of it, waiting for his response.

It is time.

Every inch of the battlefield quaked as Gurrex, god of force, rose from his slumber. A great mountain shook as a colossal figure burst out from it; nearly 300 feet high, the creature had vast, yellow eyes that darted around to get its bearings. And in an instant, the massive creature was gone, replaced by a figure about a tenth of its height. The stubbier form was the preferred mode of transportation of Gurrex.

"Hm." He groaned to himself as he saw his brother Stoan at the top of the mountain he had just burst from. "It is likely he knows that it was me that did that; but I'd rather not fight him. Not yet."

Gurrex shrunk yet again, to a figure the size of a man. Man, he though. Those fascinating little creatures he had been watching with such hope. But now their only remnant was this. He looked out on the ruined city, and smiled. It did make a fantastic battleground, and he would be proud to carry his name to victory within the constructions of his proteges. Now certain that Stoan could no longer spot him, he reverted to his medium-sized form, and marched through the city to find himself an opponent to start the war off right.

He seemed to consider the water Colossus' words for several moments, but soon enough a broad grin spread across the shade's features, an expression sinister to most due to the sharp teeth the gesture revealed

"It's good to see that your slumber has not dulled your mind or changed your ways, sister. I accept your terms." He replied with a light nod.

"And now we must deal with the question of how we should proceed...what would you recommend?"

"How boring... Nobody dares come near me?" Aeon stirred after hearing the commotion outside. Waiting was something he was naturally good at, but he was tired of sitting on the sidelines while everyone else had all the fun. He stepped out of his tower, he had no intentions of abandoning it though, and looked around outside.

In the distance he could see the enormous Earthfather. Not quite the kind of colossus Aeon enjoyed fighting with. That would have to wait for another day. Then he spotted Stonder on top of the mountain, bellowing out challenges to the other colossi. "Tch! A good way to get yourself torn to shreds right at the beginning. I'll stick to choosing my battles rather than having them forced on me, thank you very much."

And then Gurrex appeared. Aeon couldn't remember whether it had been the past or the future when they had met, so it was possible Gurrex might not even know him yet. If so, he would make a wonderful first battle. Aeon assumed the form of himself as a harmless innocent child, albeit a very well-dressed 10 foot tall child carrying a sword, and ran towards Gurrex. "Wow! You sure look cool mister!! My name's Aeon, what's yours?" Aeon shouted, grinning broadly up at the colossus three times his size.

This would serve as a distraction. As Aeon spoke, he quietly set traps around Gurrex in case the encounter went poorly. To his left, a time distortion that would slow time down along with his perceptions and reaction times should he enter it. To his right, a distortion that would speed time up and leave him disoriented. And in front of him, an area where all time ceased. It would only effect Gurrex for a few seconds at best, but that was all the time Aeon needed to get a good strike in.

"I need to speak to the Earthfather. You're welcome to come with?" She picked herself up from the pool, standing at her full height now. "I don't know how long this peace will last, and I would rather not be caught out of my element when the fighting begins."

Amphitrite could sense the others stirring, and could feel their pent-up energies slowly being released. She grew uncomfortable and bowed a little at Umbra before darting in the direction of the Earth colossus.

The fox seemed grateful of the Earthfather's courtesy and carefully treaded on the massive being's hand.

"I've only been on the move for the last day or so. Trying to get a feel for the land now that everything is different."

V shifted his weight uncomfortably. Something had made him uneasy. He turned his gaze towards the Jotun's colossal visage.

"There is a restless stirring everywhere I look. I'm afraid everyone will be on the move soon."

His ears suddenly pricked as a distance voice echoed throughout the land. It was too far away to discern the words but V didn't seem especially encouraged by them.

"There's another war coming. I'm sure that you can feel it as much as I. Somethings...different this time though. The air is thicker...almost sinister."

His voice trailed off into the wind as he stared off into the horizon.

Gurrex looked down at the little child. It looked almost like a human, but he knew better. The sword he carried, for one thing. All around him he felt an odd pressure, but he had no idea what it was. However, it did alert him to the nature of the child; it was a Colossus. Despite that, he decided to humor whomever it was, and with a crunching noise shrank down to his man-sized form. The air began to ripple around him, and he looked up at the "child".

"Hello, Aeon. I am Gurrex. You know, it is very dangerous to be around this place; where is your home?"

Aeon was not at all surprised by Gurrex's change of form, many colossi could do it after all, though he pretended to be for the sake of keeping up the charade. He pretended not to feel the sudden intense pressure in the air either, in hopes of unnerving the Colossus. "Ooooh, that's a pretty nifty power, Gurrex. Say, what else can you do?"

To answer Gurrex's question Aeon pointed his sword at his clock tower, "Can't you tell? It's the clock tower! Pretty nice, eh? I sorta 'made' it myself not too long ago."

Gurrex looked at the clock tower in fascination. That was a bad move on his part. Gurrex thought. If he made that clock tower, then Aeon was the colossus of time. That would also explain the slight pressure in the air that did not belong to him. The time around them was naturally warped.

Gurrex had decided he knew all he needed to, and that it was time to commence the battle. "You want to see what I can do? Very well, the first thing I'll do is avoid your traps."

Gurrex slammed his foot into the ground, which split open as if the fist of an angry god had slammed into it. He dropped into the hole he had made and punched the ground in the rough direction Aeon was, and sent out a large column of concrete and solid rock to smash him with.

Umbra simply grinned and nodded, watching the female Colossus dart off before settling down at the base of the tree, melting into the shadow and simply leaving the trench coat and hat lying on the ground. He would wait till nightfall before traveling, if possible. No need to risk a confrontation when he really didn't have any advantage.

As soon as Gurrex made his move, Aeon reverted to an older form so he could be in peak physical condition for the fight. Other than that he made no move. "Well, aren't you quite the clever one? Of course you'd have to be pretty thick to not see through that. Quite the attack as well, but you've sadly underestimated me."

Gurrex's attack went straight into the time void Aeon had created between them earlier and been stopped dead in it's tracks. All time was stopped in that area and anything less than a colossus that went in it would never come out again. Aeon readied his sword and waited for his opponent to show himself again.

The signs of mankind's greatness were fading. The great monuments were beginning to fall. The vast fields that had been plowed were being overgrown. The roads and rails that criss-crossed the land were beginning to fade under dirty and soil. The sprawls of the suburbs were being reclaimed by nature. By now the most obvious remnants of man were his cities. Great jungles of concrete and metal. Forests of skyscrapers which reached towards the heavens. Complex networks of roads, pipes, and wires that created a dense web in which so many people used to live. The wealth of man taken form; food, furniture, cars, electronics, artwork, all sorts of objects; lay most dense here, a treasure trove of culture. Now though the cities were nothing more then the corpse of none other than civilization itself. The buildings were collapsing, the networks were breaking, the objects of wealth were rotting. Nature was beginning to reclaim as always, but here, civilization's broken body still rotted.

Within the ruins of a city moved a being, one who's presence could be described as "dirty" or "sickly". The air around it was hard to breath, tainted with a smog that seemed to slowly kill or destroy that which it came in contact with. A path was left on the ground behind this being as well; a trail of wet, cloying mud and muck which ate away at that which it touched. The few living creatures that dared to make a home in the ruins made sure to keep away from this being, knowing that staying too long in it's presence would lead to a slow death. A decline. A decay.

Something is not right. Something is in motion. There are other beings about. One's who are similar, but oh so different. Why are we all awake?

Dreth stared off into the distance as he wandered, looking over the city ruins and off into the wilderness around it. There was life and death out there as well, but here destruction and decay were strong and ever-present. The parasites and scavengers were most common, the opportunistic life forms were the ones who flourished here. The city ruins had been Dreth's favorite areas to wander after the fall of man brought about his full awakening, but even now there were beginning to become like the rest of the world. The constant balance of life and death. All things must end, Dreth knew that, even decay itself, but that did not mean he wouldn't miss it.

Perhaps the end of something even greater is upon the world. The end of things that have been present since the beginning of creation. The end of Colossi. That will be an ending that I must be present for.

It was settled. Dreth would move out of the ruins and into the wilds, to meet and perhaps do battle with his brethren. It was only the natural order of things. All things must end...

With these thoughts the large being of decay moved out of his "natural habitat" and into the surrounding area, waiting to come across another of similar power.

Gurrex waited a moment as Aeon gloated. Once he was finished, Gurrex lightly tapped the ground in front of him. For a few hundred yards, the entire street opened up to swallow anyone who was unfortunate enough to be there, including Aeon. Knowing that no time traps had been constructed under the ground, Gurrex rushed where Aeon would fall to deliver a devastating punch.

As the earth writhed and twisted under the gods' might the red storm grew in the sky once again. In this new cycle the world was unstable, without a ruler the world itself would tear itself apart, order would be lost and every part of the earth would be lost.

As the storm grew above the city and the sand there was a rumble as a red steak of terrible lightning struck the clock-tower, the hands twisted wildly then slowed as they melted under great heat then fell off as the tower crumbled to dust. The battle was bringing all the gods together but too did it bring their elements to them.

Aeon jumped into the air upon feeling the ground begin to burst open and let himself fall beneath the ground where Gurrex would doubtlessly be waiting for him. Just after he landed he felt an enormous force coming towards him and stepped out of the way just as Gurrex's fist came crashing into where his body would have been. While dodging, Aeon spun around behind Gurrex, swinging his sword at the back of his foe's head with all his might.

Before the Earthfather replied, a bolt of red lightning struck nearby, leaving the ground glowing with heat. The Jotun shook his head grimly, and said to V, "I feel it too. Death's grip is tight in these times, and I fear for the lives of those I have loved. If there is too be a war among the younger Colossi, I shall move to stop them, yet despite my age and might they may not bow to me. Would you join me in ensuring peace, little spark?"

As he spoke, the Earthfather notice also a flowing form approaching, and recognized his ancient companion Amphitrite. As two of the oldest colossi, together they had brought life into the world, and he had missed her in his age-long sleep. Even as he spoke to V, he reached out his other arm to Amphitrite, so that she might climb and speak with him.

The water colossus flowed easily up the Earthfather's arm, using familiar channels several years old. She climbed the rock face for what seemed like forever, noticing another familiar presence on Jotun.

"V? Velox Vulpes?"

She settled into a small pool near the Earth colossus' shoulder, staring at the fox. He looked like a small speck compared to the mountain. Amphitrite was not predisposed to the fire colossus, but she appreciated his cunning and beauty. And she couldn't say she didn't enjoy the sun...

"It has been a while brothers. It seems that we are all awake again..."
