Why go to Canada, I mean litterly what is up there?
Well... For starters, in Canada, we have people that know how to spell literally.

The greatest back-yard ever. From massive mountains, to perfectly flat prairies, to the Great Lakes and the Canadian Shield in Western Ontario. Manitoba has the prairies, a 400m peninsula, an actual desert, and incredible lakes. I guess to sum it up, Canada has some great outdoor locations for camping, hiking, canoeing, etc.

Free Health Care :D

Great Hockey.

Leniency on underage alcohol use, haha.

I really don't know... I'm at a point where there is so much to put, I can't put anything.

Well for one thing, if you go to British Columbia, the environment there is very beautiful.

Well, your life expectancy increases dramatically the second you leave the states. As well as people get better looking and nicer.

If you like the Canadian music scene, I highly recommend Montreal. I am not from there but that is one great party town.

So convince me, Canada! Why should I come live in your fine country? Or why not?
Well, if you get landed immigrant status, and pay into OHIP, you get free medical care.
That's freaking sweet. Saved both my life and my Dad's life without bankrupting us.

I'd say come to Ontario. We rock.
BC and Alberta are nice too, but more expensive. Just stay out of Toronto. Toronto is an awful, dirty, smelly place. I can't stand it. At all. But I'm not a city person, so maybe I'm biased. But even if I wasn't: It sucks. I lived in Fort McMurray Alberta, and I prefer that to Toronto.
Beyond that, the whole country is beautiful: The East coast, the west coast, and all but one point in between...Toronto.

Their milk comes in bags.
Um, no, it doesn't.
Yes it does. I buy my milk in bags!
I prefer the bags to the jugs. I can buy more milk, and take up less fridge space!
In your face, milk jugs!

Likewise, I'm going to try and visit Canada for a week sometime next year to look at what areas of employment are open. My reasons being that I just dislike the UK, be most of it inhabitents or how I think it is only going downhill financially. In regards to the inhabitants, I mean how 90% of the people aged 10-25 seem to be nothing more than alcoholics, drug users and have little respect for their environment or others, plus how a government has effectively encouraged those who are otherwise be fit and healthy workers to simply sit at home and receive workers allowance for doing nothing with their lives and leeching off those who work to pay taxes.

Come on Canada!

----
On another note, can I ask how a typical Canadian feels about having a foreign citizen arrive in your country and take up a job? I have heard that Canada has (in some fields) a lack of a skilled workforce, so could these positions have been left open for a extended amount of time (which would hurt the growth of the companies/organisations in question). Please keep in mind that I don't have a source for that, I heard it from word of mouth.
Simply put, do you dislike foreign workers, or foreigners in general?

Canada is a great outdoorsy country, with a fantastic mix of metropolis (Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver), and backcountry.

We've got free health care, the West Coast is more laid back, and where else can you go to work on monday, go skiing on tuesday, go check out EA Games on wednesday, then hop it to the beach thursday all within hours of your place?

We've got more freedom in job opportunities and great water, lots of land, and better meat with less growth hormones and antibiotics.

All in all, if you want to come to Canada, do it because you've got a job waiting for you, or just for the experience. Going to other countries for a while to work should be an adventure. Have fun while you're young!

Oh yeah. And we are also the birthplace of Shatner. Yaaaaaaay!

It's a frozen wasteland here. If you can get to sleep (provided the moose herds shut up) then a kodiak marmoset will disembowel you. STAAAY AWAAAY!
LOL! You forgot the beavers, who chew through your log cabins, and use your refrigerator as an apartment.

Canada is quite welcome to immigrants. The only issue one might have is if you came illegally (Which I'd naturally assume you wouldn't do), or if you try to push foreign customs on others. There have been problems with that in the past, but seeing as you're coming form the UK, the only thing I should tell you is: We drive on the right. Remember that, and you'll be fine...and alive.

Don't do it, their general healthcare is a trap! Ask any US medicin lobbyist.

Or do it. They have other reasons.
Why yes, I argue with the backup of Cracked. Problems?

Yeah, we call that back bacon here. Can anyone guess why? And we use superior cuts of meat. Think of a baseball steak, but trimmed of the fat.

Let's see: no terror alert levels, the general population is not allowed to vote on every single bill, more guns, yet far, FAR less gun-related crimes, wilderness ranging from snow capped mountains to dry deserts, world history is mandatory, not to mention even some of our community colleges, including the one in my small hometown of only 60,000, are world-renowned, far lower air pollution, politicians with character; we simply do not elect one-dimensional bores like Bush and Clinton. We have had politicians punch out would-be assassins, go into homeless shelters in the middle of the night and scream at the inhabitants to get jobs, and cheat on university papers (yes, at least one of our recent politicians never finished high school and went back to school while in office). More wilderness per person than any other country on Earth. Canadians have burned down the Whitehouse, before it was moved north to Washington. Canadians shared the honour of being the most feared fighting force in both World Wars with the Aussies. Separation of church and state. A national anthem not written during a major battle. Gorgeous women. Gorgeous French women. Mmmmm. Excuse me.

I'd have to agree with this, live in someone's closet in Manhattan or something. That's about as much culture shock as you'll get in Canada. Montreal is a great party place though. Also mounties.

Canada is VERY different depending on where you want to live. If you move to Alberta there are jobs, especially if you work in any sort of field that can be applied to the Oil Industry, however we are also kinda like "America Light" being both bigger fans of the states than our neighbor provinces and being the most conservative place in Canada.

It's not a horrible place to live, but it IS the Texas of Canada, and everything that entails.

I would say move to BC. The forests and mountain ranges are pretty awesome. Stay out of Vancouver though if your not rich.

A one room apartment, and i mean ONE ROOM with only a toilet and no shower, apartments are around 1000 a month with no utilities. Where as the city i live in an apartment worth 1000 a month is two bedrooms at least as well has a sauna and a pool on the roof.

There's a lot of pricks in Canada to, don't be fooled. Not to mention plenty of people who would love to swindle you out of your money.

I don't know about colder. I know that hot where i live is freezing to my friends in Arizona. Then again Arizona is a desert isn't it? A hot day where i live is about 70F. Take that as you will.

Also convert your cash. If you choose to pay with American cash at first expect two things.
1)Some places will not take more then $20 worth of it. The Mcdonalds i work at follows this rule as well as a number of stores in my area. Most places outright refuse it that i know about simply because they lose to much money converting it to CAD.
2)Don't expect the exchange rate. 1USD=1CAD as far as anyone here is concerned. Though right now our dollar is 3.1cents lower then USD so whats funny is most people lose money for an American dollar once its exchanged.

So if you choose to come up have fun, but unless you have a job opportunity waiting for you in your new destination don't expect to be swimming in jobs.

Well I would never live in any other country but Canada. Aside from the beauty of the country itself there are a few things that really stand out for me. Mostly from the political differences between the USA and Canada

Canada is a bit more socialist than the USA and if that's your bag you would like it up here. Socialized health care is pretty sweet and despite all of the government programs that make life a little bit better the population has little tolerance for deficits and government debt. So unlike the USA our government isn't as massively in the hole. As well religious types don't control our politics in the slightest, so if you like that you might just like Canada.

The weather is something that you either can deal with or you can't. It can get cold depending on where you are, if weather is a problem for you just go to Vancouver they never have winter.

I have been told by some American friends who have traveled up here that we are less obese and most of our cities try to accommodate walking, cycling and public transportation better then the cities they came from (Nashville). That part isn't as good as Europe but it's a start.

But really its all in what you value, like I said I would never want to live anywhere else.
